I thought about this for a bit but i would also tell his father “if u truly sent me to another country because of abuse i might recieve as a baronet, why would u have me break yet another engagement where they have more to say about me? Also you had me delete my sister from my friend list because of spying concerns, but yet u called within moments of me getting my summoned beasts. You didnt even try to hide ur apying but me saying goodbye to my sister couldnr be done because of spying. If i came back u do realize i would have to go through the humiliation of asking people to friend me all over again.
Luke had to be diplomatic and formal on the call, even by picking up in the first place, to avoid inflaming an already significant international incident. Explicitly despite the fact Luke’s father and mother were already throwing proper decorum (and all good taste) out the window. Up to and including directly insulting the chastity and dignity of his fiancee, the princess of an allied kingdom, in front of her parents.
That’s why he did not throw any shade, stayed formal, stuck to his logical guns, cited contract for 10 brides/grooms, and performed the bare minimum Aristocratic duty of “visiting parents with his wife-to-be”.
We all know (and likely Luke does too) that the moment he crosses the national border, Luke’s parents will try to (a) forcibly separate Mifa and Luke (b) by any number of hook or crook, such as using “royalty” exception to breaking engagements (c) deport Mifa back to her kingdom (d) and refuse to allow Luke to return as a political hostage.
I enjoy chapters like this, when you read it under the context that Luke is trying to disarm a live bomb.
