Chapter 17: The Strongest Onmyoji Applies for the Exam

The day of the entrance exam.

When we arrived at the Imperial Rodnea Academy of Magic, we were first surprised by its size.

“Wow…”

Next to me, Ifa lets out a voice of admiration.

Anyway, it is huge. I wonder how many square meters it is?

It’s almost as large as the Daidairi in Kyoto, but it seems that the forest behind the Academy is also part of the school, and if that is included, this area is much larger.

The Academy buildings are just like a castle.

“……Hmm?”

“What’s wrong, Seika-kun?”

“… No, nothing.”

There was a strange stagnation of power here and there.

Well, it is a magic Academy, so anything is possible, right?

Looking around again, there are many children who are taking the entrance exams just like us.

“Yes, those who are taking the entrance exam, please come this way!”

The reception desk opened under the blue sky, and everyone began to line up in that direction.

 We followed suit.

“Your name”

“I’m Seika Lamprog.”

“My goodness! Are you the son of Count Lamprog?”

The woman at the reception desk raised her voice, causing a stir around her.

“Are you serious?” Lamprog is so famous? Shouldn’t we get to know him while we still can?”

Huh, was my house this famous?

“Now, give me your hand.”

After being asked a few questions.

I was presented with a crystal ball with a magic circle engraved on it.

“What is this?”

“It’s a magic tool that measures magic power. This is the first time for me to see the magic power of the Lamprog clan, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the results will be. By the way, if you have a strong aptitude for all attributes, it will shine white. I haven’t seen it yet.”

“Huh”

As I was told, I put my hand on the crystal ball.

 But nothing happens.

“… I’m sorry, one more time.”

“yes”

 Again, nothing happens.

“Ah, do you have an aptitude for light or dark attributes? This only supports four attributes…”

“No, I don’t think so. Apparently I don’t have magical powers.”

“Eh”

The people around me are noisy again.

 I was getting anxious.

“Is it possible that I can’t take the test if I don’t have magical powers?”

“This is just a preliminary confirmation, so you can take the exam… but there is a practical test that you have to ………… do.”

“Then there’s no problem. I will take the exam.”

As I left the reception area, I could hear whispering around me.

“No magic?  No way. He’s a Lamprog. What the hell is that guy up to?”

At another reception, Ifa is talking to a staff member.

“Your name”

“I’m Ifa. I don’t have a surname.”

“Are you a commoner?”

“No, I am …… a slave of Lord Seika.”

 The surroundings are noisy again.

No, it’s too noisy.  The reception desk next door is packed too.

“Slave, is it? There have been cases where squires have been admitted, but slaves are not so common. Legally, they are treated as property, but the school is not responsible for their management with regard to escapes. Please inform your master. Now, give me your hand over here.”

Ifa puts her hand on the crystal ball as well.

Then, unlike my time, a faint yellowish light appeared.

“You seem to have an aptitude for fire and wind attributes, but …… weak, yes. There’s a practical test, would you like to take it……?”

“Yes. Please.”

When Ifa came back, the noise became louder.

“How do they expect to get in?” “They’ve got connections”  “This aristocrat, you’re just an upstart count”  “You’re a vile thing, you look like a woman and you’ve got a slave living with you, what are you doing at the academy?…..”

I suddenly felt a fever, and when I looked at Ifa, I saw orange flames faintly flickering around her.

 Her eyes are fixed.

“Ifa. The fire is leaking.”

“Huh?

Ifa waved her hand and erased it.

I laughed a little, then sighed.

I feel like I’m in an adversarial situation before I even start. But this is more like me. —

“Shut up.”

 A dignified voice resounded.

In front of me, red hair like autumn leaves gently passes by.

“You’re in my way. If you’re not going to accept the application, get out of my way.”

Before I knew it, the crowd had quieted down and made way for the beautiful girl.

“Amiyu. Commoner.”

“Yes”

The receptionist hurriedly goes through the formalities.

“Then here…”

“Hmm”

The girl put her hand on the crystal ball before it was offered.

 At that moment.

A dazzling white light illuminated the surroundings.

 The staff member’s eyes widened.

“Huh. This color, all attributes…”

“That’s enough, isn’t it?”

“Ah, wait a minute.”

The girl removed her hand and turned on her heel as if it were inconsequential.

 The surroundings buzzed again.

“Did she say all the attributes?” “And it’s so strong…… she’s a commoner, right?” “I think she’s an illegitimate child of royalty.” “No way ……”

“Hey”

I called out to her without thinking.

The girl with red hair stops in her tracks.

My heart starts to race. I knew it. She looks like her.

“Um, thank you.”

“Huh? Why are you thanking me?”

“that is……”

“For the record, I’m not on your side. It’s just that it was too noisy. Besides.”

 The girl points at me.

“You’re the most annoying. It’s annoying that someone who can’t even use magic comes to the Academy.  I know you’re going to pass the entrance exam with the help of your family, but at least don’t get in my way.”

The girl walks away leaving behind those words

I watched her back for a while.

“What’s wrong, Seika-kun?”

“no……”

I was just a little surprised.

The hair color is different, but it was very similar to the face I knew in my previous life.

To my sister who died when I was very young.

To the beloved disciple who seemed to be a living copy of her — to that child who killed me.
