Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 45

I reflect a bit and decide to be quiet.

After Torbis-san finishes explaining the appraisal, he nods to the president, who then turns to the secretary.

In response, Kalmis-san takes out documents from her bag and places them on the table.

“Now, let me show you our appraisal amounts.”

I and the chief lean in—

““Eighteen large gold coins!””

We both raised our voices in unison.

Instantly, my mind starts calculating.

In the guild master’s office, it was six coins… three times that is eighteen, and three times 1.53 million is approximately 4.6 million.

That’s an upgrade from a light to a midsize car.

Looking at it, even the supervisor seems surprised. It seems he didn’t expect it to be this valuable.

“Hey… in the booklet, it was six coins, right?! The amount is three times different!”

The results are completely different from the “six large gold coins” we discussed in the guild leader’s room the other day.

Then, he complains by slapping the booklet with the back of his hand.

“Isn’t this too old?”

Both of us look at Torbis-san.

He then explains.

The current market value of Great Elasmos is “ten to twelve large gold coins.”

It’s now about twice the price listed in the booklet.

The reason for the price increase this time is, of course, because it was in a very rare condition, being a “large, completely pristine state.”

“Even if it’s not me, adventurers who focus on subjugation would come asking, ‘Teach me how to defeat it,’ wouldn’t they?”

Torbis-san smiles, impressed by this excellent method of defeating the creature.

Almost involuntarily, I blurt out, “They already came barging into the guild. Dealt with them and sent them away, though.”

The chief and I exchange glances, both subtly smiling.

President Firmos was silently observing our behavior.

And then, the chief speaks.

“We have no problem with this amount for the purchase—”

“No…”

President Firmos interrupts with a hand, and Kalmis-san takes out another document.

“This is our purchase amount.”

She shows it to the president, who nods, and places it on the table.

““Thirty-six large gold coins!?””

At double the appraisal value, the chief and I once again raise our voices and exchange glances.

In my mind, the line from some video, “Double the multiplier, and double it again!” flows.

From 4.6 million to a doubled 9.2 million. It’s like upgrading from a regular car to a luxury import.

Seeing this, President Firmos smirks.

“I want to hear the reason?”

At the chief’s remark, the president looks at Torbis-san.

He clears his throat and says,

“Given the size of the hide, I believe it can probably ‘create several matching equipment pieces.'”

Not a full set from head to toe, but having multiple pieces contributes to the increased value, he explains.

Hearing this, my gaming brain kicks back into gear.

“Does that mean if you have matching parts from the same material, special effects activate?”

In response to that statement, Torbis-san shows a surprised expression.

“Do you know about it?”

Everyone turns their attention to me.

“No, I just had a hunch…”

Of course, I was talking about in the context of games.

“I believe there are effects like ‘increased mana retention’ or ‘increased strength’ when you have matching parts. The reason is not entirely clear…”

“I see, it’s like the ‘set effect’ for enchanted equipment, right?”

In reality, it’s probably more about a resonance effect among materials than the addition of magical effects, but the idea of becoming stronger as a set is the same.

My heart leaps at the realization that equipment in this world has such features.

However, it seems no one understands what I’m talking about… well, that’s only natural.

Neither the chief nor I have any particular objections, so we exchange glances to signify our agreement.

“Well, then, no objections to this amount.”

“Well, about that…”

The president opens his mouth with an apologetic look.

“Just consider it as ‘for the time being.'”

“What do you mean!?”

Torbis-san speaks with a somewhat solemn expression.

“I think it’s necessary to have that horn thoroughly examined by a specialized institution.”

According to him, it seems like the horn is not ordinary.

The horns of a Great Elasmos are supposed to be, at most, 50 centimeters, and even that is rare.

However, this time, the horn is easily over a meter in size, and its thickness is extraordinary.

Moreover, it seems that the larger the horn, the more impressive its mana retention or compression rate is.

The conclusion was that the horn is “too large to determine its true value.”

In Magnel, they don’t conduct such detailed appraisals, and it’s beyond their capability.

Therefore, they request approval to make the payment based on the top-tier value for the time being.

“I boasted about offering a good price, but… what do you think?”

The way he’s talking suggests he’s not keen on having it taken away by someone else.

But if the value increases later, they’ll probably pay the difference… right?

Torbis-san also seems curious about the details. Well, he is an appraiser.

“Um… by specialized institution, do you mean?”

“Well, about that, I’m thinking of asking a friend in the royal capital for a favor.”

Since Torbis-san’s mentor is in the magical research department of the royal palace, he plans to contact him and inquire about the course of action.

“The royal capital, huh…”

The chief mutters, looking at me as if asking, “What do you think?”

Feeling like the situation is getting bigger and bigger, I decide to leave it in their hands since there’s not much we can do on our end.

“That sounds good, doesn’t it?”

“Yes, indeed.”

With my approval, and since there don’t seem to be any issues, the sale is finalized for “thirty-six large gold coins.”

President Firmos seems to find the interaction between the chief and me a bit strange.

After the discussion concludes, the chief sees them off to the entrance.

“Taran, let’s have a drink again sometime!”

“Sure thing.”

They shake hands, and they leave Tiara.

Returning to my seat, Galand faces me and asks

“How did it go?”

“For how much?” both Rockman and Leslie lift their heads, and the women who had free hands also turn their attention this way.

I grin and disclose the amount

“Thirty-six large gold coins.”

“““Th-thirty-six!”””

“Whoooa!”

The men inadvertently let out a cheer, so I hush them with a quiet gesture.

The women exchange surprised looks with each other.

“That’s amazing!”

“Well, yeah… I don’t think even the chief expected it to be this much…”

“Is that so?”

As I explain the lower estimate from our side, they are astonished by the magnitude of the difference.

“Is Mizuki going to keep the entire amount?”

“No, no, no, I’ll make sure to put the guild’s share in.”

I wave my hands emphatically in response to Rockman’s question.

“Is that so?”

“Of course!”

I explain that this is a transaction through the guild, hence the reason for sharing the proceeds.

Announcing that I’ll share the details later, everyone expresses their happiness and congratulations.

It was a bit overwhelming, but for some reason, it felt strangely heartwarming.

And now, I seem to have just realized…

Ah… I’m really happy that I made it back alive and could see everyone’s smiles…
