 Chapter 46

Logenwolves - beings that are wolves turned into magical creatures and inhabit the entire continent.

Their fur is a mix of white, brown, gray, and black, but in the southern forests of the Marzen Kingdom, it is said that black is the predominant color.

When they undergo magical transformation, they live as a single family, exhibit a strong territorial awareness, and in some cases, may even attack large beasts.

One such Logenwolf family, with parents and two offspring at the equivalent of three months in human terms, is wandering through the forest. 

It seems the father has taken it upon himself to teach the young ones how to hunt.

"Listen, you guys... the way to hunt prey is like this – 'Leap, spring, and then smack it down with a bang!'"

Performing a motion of leaping and swinging the front paws down, the speaker turns around to boast to the children.

"Mom, what's that? Mom, what's that?"

"Hehehe."

The children are having so much fun on the outing that they don't pay much attention. Dad is feeling down.

Dad, your explanation isn't getting through.

He's unusually enthusiastic today.

He usually seems so unmotivated, and unless Mom gives him a good scolding, he won't even go hunting.

The Great Elasmos charges just as Dad tries to leap!

"Daaaaaad!"

In an instant, Dad tried to dodge, but it was too late. He was blown away as if twisted by the impact.

The massive body of the creature grazed him, delivering a powerful blow to his abdomen. Several ribs were broken, organs were damaged, and there was damage to the lungs as well.

Already, consciousness had faded.

Mom watched in despair at the events unfolding before her.

"Dad's hurt! Dad's hurt! This is bad! These kids will be in trouble if we don't do something!"

Mom immediately looks at the children. 

They are hiding silently in the thicket, showing quick instincts.

"You guys are smart! Smarter than Dad! Just keep hiding like that!"

Whether the children are listening or not, she commands them not to come out. 

Mom acts as a decoy, trying to lure the Great Elasmos away from the children.

"Over here! Over here! Mom's over here! Come on, you! Come on, you!"

Confident that it has taken down one, the Great Elasmos turns its attention to the other. 

It seems to realize that the smaller creature is trying to escape in fear and nonchalantly turns its body towards it.

While attracting its attention, Mom distances herself from the children.

"Even before I joined Dad in the forest, I was the fastest—"

The creature suddenly kicks its front legs twice and charges!

It was too late to react.

—Boom!

‘Great Elasmos's attack! Mom has suffered a fatal blow!’

Reflexively, I jumped back to reduce the damage.

However, the giant horn of that creature hit my body directly.

I felt as if my body was being crushed, and I was blown away.

Cough... cough... I can't breathe. This might be... the end... I might be... done for.

For a while, they protected the meat from other animals until the humans returned. 

The other animals, aware of the terror of the Logenwolves, didn't dare approach with their presence and scent known.

On the third day—today, they didn't come.

On the fourth day—today, they didn't come.

On the fifth day—today, they didn't come.

When will they come? Hopefully soon. I want to meet them, I want to meet them. I hope they come soon.

Sixth day—

"Hey, someone's coming, someone's here! Dad! Someone's here!"

The two wolves express their joy by wagging their tails and showing their happiness all over their bodies, delighted to meet their benefactor.
