Chapter 11: Viola Rosemary’s Infatuation

If I’m to marry, it has to be someone stronger than me.

This had been Viola Rosemary’s resolution for quite some time, being the eldest daughter of the Marquis Rosemary’s family.

“Haa… Who is that boy, anyway?”

Viola murmured while lying on the bed in her bedroom, her untied blonde hair spread out on the bed. Her thin negligee revealed her well-developed figure, making her appear older than her age.

“Rest… Rest-kun… He didn’t mention his last name, but he’s from the Ebern Honorary Viscount family, right?”

The face of the young man who had saved her and her sister’s lives a few days ago was still vivid in Viola’s mind. Since then, she had found herself recalling that boy’s face repeatedly, sighing each time.

Viola’s father, Marquis Rosemary, was the Chief Magician in the royal court. The Chief Magician served the royal family as a magician, ranking alongside the Royal Knights as a shield for the kingdom. The Rosemary family had a long lineage of magician, producing many outstanding magicians.

Growing up as the eldest daughter of such a family, Viola had been learning magic from a young age and had achieved excellent results.

“Someday, I will marry and take over the Marquis Rosemary’s family. I will uphold the great lineage of the family, known for its exceptional magicians.”

To achieve this, Viola had decided to marry someone who was not only a capable magician but also stronger than her. At that moment, she heard about the talented son of the Ebern Honorary Viscount, who happened to be the same age and planning to take the Royal Academy entrance exam next year.

He seemed like the perfect match.

Viola visited the Ebern Honorary Viscount’s mansion with her sister, hoping to meet this potential fiance. However, her expectations were shattered upon meeting Cedric Ebern, the eldest son of the Ebern Honorary Viscount.

Cedric was arrogant, selfish, and self-centered—a child who had been excessively pampered. He looked down on everyone except himself, behaving as if he were the center of the world. Whenever he spoke, it was only about boasting about his own excellence.

He gazes at the faces and chests of Viola and Primula, his nose stretching out with a lovey-dovey expression. There is not a single admirable aspect about him.

Viola and Primula were disappointed by Cedric’s behavior.

(Although he was undoubtedly a skilled magician, I can’t imagine marrying someone with such a horrible personality.)

Viola has decided to marry a magician stronger than herself, but the thought of choosing Cedric as her husband never crossed her mind.

His magical talent is undoubtedly remarkable. Viola witnessed him defeating monsters in the forest, and she can assert that he is a more skilled mage than her. However, beyond that aspect, he lacks in every other area. If Cedric were to marry into the Marquis family, it is clear that the wealth would be squandered, leading to the decline of the household.

(He’s no good. Let’s look elsewhere.)

In the forest, Viola quickly gave up on Cedric.

(Being a skilled magician is the minimum requirement, but personality matters too. Maybe there’s a good young man proficient in magic, even if his status is lower?)

She thought it was unlikely to find such a person but was surprised to discover a suitable candidate sooner than expected.

“My name is Rest. I’m Cedric’s… technically, his half-brother.”

The boy who introduced himself as Cedric’s half-brother had saved Viola and Primula from the dire situation with the White Fenrir. Despite his worn-out clothes, he had a well-featured face, and above all, he showed genuine consideration for Viola and Primula.

He is a gentlemanly boy who doesn’t suit his appearance. Although it is my first time meeting him, I have a very good impression of him.

And he was strong—exceptionally strong.

Cedric was stronger than Viola, but the boy was even stronger than that.

He blew away the White Fenrir, intercepted its attacks with barriers, and then emitted a vast amount of magic power to drive it away.

Overwhelming talent.

An undisputed strength that Viola had seen with her own eyes.

At that moment, Viola became convinced that there was no one else but him who could be her partner.

(There’s no one else. The only one fit to be my husband, to become the son-in-law of the Rosemary Marquis, is him…!)

If Viola were to conceive a child with the boy who called himself Rest, the child born would undoubtedly become the next generation’s greatest magician. Moreover, there was a possibility that an unprecedented sage, like those rarely seen in the kingdom’s history, might be born.

(Primula also seems to be interested in him… but this is something I can’t compromise on.)

For Viola, Primula was a precious and adorable younger sister. She would be willing to give valuable gems and dresses for Primula’s sake, but Rest was someone she couldn’t concede. There was no one else as suitable as him to be her partner.

(Honestly, I don’t feel like competing with Primula. Maybe I should share him with Primula… Wait, what am I even thinking!)

Viola lay on the bed, hastily shaking her head.

To make Rest her husband, she needed to first gain approval from her father. She had to express gratitude for saving her life and consider inviting him to her home.

(I should prepare tea and snacks… I wonder what kind of sweets Rest likes?)

Viola’s heart danced with excitement as she pondered how to welcome Rest.
