Chapter 371: To Report and Pick Up

Ragune had gone on a solo trip to meet Aeris in the Marquisate of Van Dyne, but after staying a few days there, she returned to the city of Caxart right away via the “dimensional corridor.”

“Welcome home, Ragune. You could have stayed there and enjoyed your stay.

“N-no, it’s fine. I just went to check on Aeris to see if she was okay!”

Ragune replies hurriedly, as if she was hiding something.

“?”

Tauro questions Ragune’s suspicious reaction. Did something happen over there?

“Yes. How’s Aeris doing?”

“Uh, yeah, of course! Aeris said she was just getting back to her new life, or rather, her old life, but she looked peaceful. She seemed happy with that.”

Ragune says with something stuck in her back teeth.

“…… I see. I’m glad to hear that. I’m glad she’s doing well.”

 Tauro replies with a smile.

“Yes, Aeris’s twin brother and sister are very cute. I think they are going to be beautiful in the future. There is a reliable person in charge of them, so there is no need to worry about them.”

Ragune nodded her head in agreement.

“A dependable person?”

 Tauro asks back.

“Oh, yes. The truth is, when I went to the Marquis Van Dyne territory, I was supposed to take three of the senior members of the dragon tribe with me. Those three are with Aeris now.”

“What, so you weren’t traveling alone?”

 Ankh interrupted, from the side.

“I never said I was traveling alone, did I?”

“We’d  think so since you left us behind.”

Ankh was concerned about how she had refused to let them accompany her.

Tauro was also a little concerned.

Various possibilities crossed his mind, such as whether Aeris would hate it if they followed, or if Ragune wanted some time alone, but it didn’t seem like she wanted time alone.

Maybe they wanted to talk just the two of them, but Tauro decided not to ask, since that was their problem.

“Anyway, I decided to take my seniors with me and stay there, so Aeris and her family would be safe.”

Ragune replied and began to talk about how nice the Marquisate of Van Dyne was.

In the meantime, Tauro was caught up in one question that Ragune’s words had left him with.

Isn’t it safe ……? Maybe Ragune thought that the remnants of the assassination guild would harm Aeris and the others in some way. So she took the Dragon People with her to the territory. But why did she need to keep it a secret from us, her friends?

It was a questionable assumption with very little evidence, but I could tell that Ragune was concerned about something, so I decided not to ask about it.

As soon as she was done with her souvenir story, Ankh suddenly remembered something important.

“…… one important thing I forgot to mention again ……, is Zion ok?”

““Ah!””

 Tauro and Ragune exclaimed, unintentionally.

If all went according to plan, Zion should be in a place called “Dragon’s Hole” by now, taking the training curriculum for the dragon people.

“Damn it, kill me!”

Ragune exclaimed as she recalled her days in hell.

“…I guess it’s time to go pick him up. It might be a nuisance to Zion and the dragon people to leave him any longer.”

“I don’t think it’ll be a nuisance, but I’m sure Zion is going to hell ……”

Ragune mumbled, her eyes gazing out to the far beyond.

“…… haha. Let’s hurry up and pick him up: …….”

Tauro asked Ragune to open the “dimensional corridor,” and used his “spatial transfer” to take him and Ankh together.

“Oh? Tauro-dono, Ankh-dono, welcome.”

Just as Drago was watering the plants in the garden, Tauro and his friends appeared.

 Ragune followed suit.

“Hello Drago-san. I came to pick up Zion-kun today.”

“Oh, now’s not a good time, I’m afraid. Zion is currently adjusting to diving in the dungeon as part of his training in The Dragon’s Den, so I don’t think he’ll be back for three days.”

“Adjusting ……?”

What is he adjusting? Tauro wondered,

“Ah, the instructor at the “Dragon’s Den” must have expected that you would come for him by now.”

And Ragune looks satisfied with her brother Drago’s reply.

“…What do you mean by adjustment?”

Ankh asks Ragune a simple question.

“Yes. The “Dragon’s Den” will take a lot out of you mentally and emotionally, so The idea is to have them wander between life and death in the dungeon and regain their emotions by reaffirming that they are alive. Usually, with several years of training, it takes a month to adjust, but this time it’s short, so I guess that’s how long it takes.”

Ragune nodded as she explained to Ankh.

 You’re saying something crazy!

Tauro was inwardly rebuking, but at any rate, it seems certain that he will return as a person.

That said, Tauro felt bad for leaving Shion in a place that was even more outrageous than he had imagined.

“That’s right. Since we have three days, I’ll have to meet the chief and thank him for lending his strength to annihilating the assassin guild.”

 Tauro remembered something important.

“Oh, that? I don’t think the chief cares about that, right? But it’s nice of you to go say hello.”

 Drago agrees.

As we were having this conversation, the garrison arrived as usual.

“Welcome, Tauro-dono! How are you today?”

“Ah, Good evening, Captain. I would like to go and greet the chief now, if that’s alright.”

“Of course. I will show you around.”

The captain of the garrison replied and led Tauro and the others.

“I’m off then, Drago-san. Also, I’d like to stay the night, so can I have a room?”

“Of course, of course. I will be waiting for you.”

Drago replied and sent them on their way.
