Chapter 484: Julius’ Armor?

After taking a breather with some tea, I decided to have the sacred coating agent applied to the armor. I handed the sacred coating agent to Lionel.

“Lionel, I’m counting on you.”

“Leave it to me. It will take a little time.”

Lionel didn’t say anything more, but he looked at me and smiled.

After all, Lionel and I were the ones who applied the sacred coating agent to the armor of the Heine Fortner Count’s household. He’s probably used to doing it. There’s only one suit of armor, so I don’t need to help him.

I didn’t think he’d mess up applying it, but just to be sure, I stayed close to watch. The others must’ve been curious too, because they were all watching Lionel’s work intently.

Before long, the application was finished, and all that was left was to let it set.

“Once it dries, it’ll be complete. Thanks to the properties of the magical potion, it will firmly attach to the armor, so please don’t worry.”

“How long will it take to dry?”

“About half a day… If you’re in a hurry, I can dry it with magic.”

If we use magically produced wind like a hair dryer, it should dry fairly quickly. Yeah, we’re in a hurry—let’s dry it with magic. Without being asked, I started drying the armor with magic.

Soon, the armor began to emit a unique shine. At the same time, magic began to have less effect. As expected of legendary armor—it nullifies magic indiscriminately.

At this rate, even healing magic would be nullified… but then again, healing magic doesn’t exist in this world. If you get injured, you just drink a healing potion from your pocket—so there’s no problem. I’m really glad I made those potions.

“With this, it’s complete. Shall we give it a name?”

“Let’s see… Julius’s Armor?”

“Um, I’d really prefer if you didn’t include my name…”

Sophia-sama tilted her head as she said that. I couldn’t tell if she was joking or serious… Oh, judging from that disappointed look, she was serious. That was close. I mean, if my name’s in it, it’ll be obvious I was involved.

“Sophia-sama, let’s choose a name related to the Raven Kingdom. Including Julius’s name might not be the best idea.”

“Just as Alex says. Hmm… how about we take a name from an ancient hero, or the craftsman who made the armor?”

It wasn’t just me who was surprised by Sophia-sama’s suggestion. Alex-niisan and Sister-in-law Daniela also hurriedly offered alternative suggestions. I think both were good ideas. Hearing that, Sophia-sama seemed to agree and began to think it over.

“In that case, perhaps we should use the name of the ancient hero Ark, or the legendary blacksmith Rokia.”

“Then ‘Armor of Ark’ or ‘Armor of Rokia’ sounds good.”

“Let’s have Erwin-sama decide which name to go with.”

We decided to leave the choice of name for later. It’s not really something for us to decide anyway. It would be best to let Sophia-sama and Erwin-sama, who will shape the future of the Raven Kingdom, make that decision.

We definitely weren’t just passing the responsibility. Definitely not.

To test the performance of the completed armor, it was carried out into the garden. Thankfully, the estate is surrounded by walls, so it shouldn’t be too visible from the outside. Plus, it’s not a particularly busy area. As long as we don’t use flashy magic, it should be fine.

“Julius-sama, preparations are complete.”

“Good work, Lionel. Feel free to try some magic on it.”

Alex-niisan and I already knew its capabilities. The ones to test it should be Sister-in-law Daniela and Sophia-sama. It seemed like they still had a bit of doubt in their minds. Their eyes were filled with a kind of anxious “Is it really okay?” look.

“Then I’ll try using magic. Is that alright, Julius?”

“Please go ahead.”

Since the two of them were hesitant, Alex-niisan stepped up. He stood a short distance from the armor, conjured a flame arrow with magic, and fired it at the armor.

The flame arrow vanished just before it struck the armor. The sacred coating agent seemed to be working perfectly.

“Amazing.”

“That’s incredible. Then I’ll go next.”

Seeing that, their doubts seemed to vanish. This time, Sophia-sama stepped forward and launched a wind arrow. That arrow also disappeared just before hitting the armor. Finally, Sister-in-law Daniela used magic as well, and the result was the same.

“Magic really doesn’t work on it. To see the spell vanish before it even touches the armor… if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it.”

“If it’s a powerful spell, it might touch the armor, but even then, it vanishes right after, just like before.”

“With this armor, I’m sure it will be fine. It’s truly legendary armor.”

Overcome with emotion, Sophia-sama tightly grasped both my hands. Her eyes were misty with tears. But this isn’t the end. The real battle starts now.

We returned to the table and resumed tea time, but Sophia-sama soon excused herself to arrange for Erwin-sama to be summoned.

While waiting for Erwin-sama to arrive, I thought about applying the coating to a few more suits of armor. But Alex-niisan and Sister-in-law Daniela shook their heads. It seems they judged that any further involvement would be risky.

“Julius, you’ve already done enough—offering the potion recipe, restoring the Holy Sword, and creating this armor. If you go any further, people’s greed might start to overflow.”

“That’s right. You’ve contributed more than enough to this kingdom. Any more would be dangerous.”

“Dangerous…”

Am I already becoming someone to be watched closely? If that’s the case, I should stop providing any more support. This is not the Spencer Kingdom, after all. I mustn’t forget that.

Once I hand over the armor to Erwin-sama, I should leave the Raven Kingdom as soon as possible. Alex-niisan and Sister-in-law Daniela probably think so too.

I was going to leave a full recovery potion with Sophia-sama just in case… but maybe I shouldn’t. From here on, the Raven Kingdom will need to manage on its own.
