Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 93: Landing

After being hit with an indecent comment that couldn’t be aired on public broadcast, I was left speechless, not knowing what to say. Then Hiyori, realizing what she had just said, quickly rushed to correct herself.

“No, wait, that’s not it! Or… is it? No, it’s not! I-I wasn’t inviting you to, you know, that! Look, this all happened because I was tricked by the flame witch into committing arson, right? That’s why I just want to overwrite those filthy memories by setting a fire with you, Dairi. That’s all. It’s not like I want to have your child or anything like that. I mean, that kind of thing is still too soon for me…!”

“O-oh. Y-yeah, right?”

Her frantic explanation kind of made it feel even more real, but I nodded in agreement anyway. It hadn’t even been a day since we started dating. We hadn’t even kissed or gone on a date yet—going straight to mating would be way too wild.

Right, it’s just arson. Plain and simple. No hidden meaning, just setting something on fire.

…Wait, isn’t “just setting something on fire” still a crime?

Now I’m just confused.

Damn you, flame witch! You’re the reason the word “arson” in my brain dictionary now has lewd connotations! Don’t mess with my mental lexicon, you idiot!

“Uh, setting a fire together is fine and all, but…”

“No, it’s not fine! You can’t be saying such obscene things in broad daylight!”

“Silence, you lewd witch.”

The flame witch tried to butt in but was pierced through by Hiyori’s verbal spear and instantly shriveled up again. She had just been reignited, but now she was turning to ash again. I don’t want to end up like that.

“Anyway, back to the point—setting a fire together might be fine, but it’s also kind of risky. What if more fire salamanders are born?”

“They won’t be. That’s a trait specific to the flame witch’s species. It has nothing to do with you or me.”

“You never know. The Lewd Witch thought ‘there’s no way a child will be born from this’ and then made a move on Hiyori, and look how that turned out.”

“Hmph…”

Faced with that blazing example of a bad precedent, Hiyori fell silent in thought.

Yeah, witches are a mysterious bunch. Things like “We kissed and now I’m pregnant” or “A stork delivered a baby”—those fairytale-level stories are not so laughable in this world.

“I’ve got a fire salamander Gremlin embedded in my hand. You’re a witch. If we set a fire together, there’s a chance another salamander could be born. That’s something we should avoid. Having kids before marriage is just irresponsible.”

“You’re right. Giving in to momentary emotion and doing something that might result in a child—that’s dishonest to everyone involved. Don’t you agree, flame witch?”

“Hah… hah…! Y-yes… I agree…”

Poor flame witch is being silenced or forced to agree at every turn. She’s on the verge of hyperventilation.

But I don’t feel bad for her. She needs to reflect more—a lot more!

“But yeah, I get it—wanting to overwrite those tainted memories. I mean, I wasn’t the one who got actually assaulted like Hiyori, but my mental dictionary now has graffiti all over the word ‘arson,’ thanks to that.”

“So… hmm. I’ve got it—what if next time, we light the candles on a cake together? We’ll stick two candles in a cake, and I’ll light one and you light the other. That way our flames don’t mix, so it’s not a ‘fire-sex’ situation, but it’s still kind of like setting a fire together.”

“Like a birthday cake? Hmm, feels a bit different from arson though…”

“Not a birthday—a commemoration. It’s almost our 86th anniversary, right? Let’s do it then.”

“? ………!? Dairi, you…!”

It took her a few beats to realize, and then Hiyori threw herself into my arms in delight.

We first met on April 13th, 2025.

Today is April 8th, 2111—so it’s almost been 86 years.

For me, it felt like I just gave her our six-year anniversary gift last month, but for Hiyori, it’s been 80 years.

Sorry I couldn’t celebrate every year. But hey, I was dead, give me a break. This year, I’ll bake the cake—let’s eat it together!

As I melted from the warmth of Hiyori pressing her head into mine, I noticed the flame witch had burned out like a boxer who’d taken a full 12 rounds of beating. She was slumped against the leg of the writing desk in the study, her soul practically gone.

After a long, emotional embrace, Hiyori finally calmed down. The messy drama had passed, and it was time for cleanup.

She summoned the Fourth Flame Witch and explained everything from beginning to end in detail.

Upon hearing it all, the Fourth Witch pulled out an old, sealed letter I had written ages ago and shoved it in the flame witch’s face. Then she had the flame witch prostrate herself before Hiyori, just as the letter instructed. After that, she seemed satisfied enough to help clean up the aftermath.

A discussion was held—without me—and it was unanimously decided that I, Dairi Kenshi, would gain custody of the three fire salamanders.

If I hadn’t stopped Hiyori, she would’ve killed them thinking they were wild monsters. A terrifying future where she unwittingly killed her own children could’ve happened. So both Hiyori and the flame witch, their real mothers, expressed their gratitude to me once again.

That makes Sekitan’s full name Dairi Sekitan Eraizo.

The other two will probably be Dairi Tsubaki Sugoi-zo and Dairi Mokutan Kawaiina. I don’t know what Tsubaki considers her full name now that she’s off traveling, but when I get home, I’ll ask Mokutan what she thinks hers is.

Until now, Hiyori had treated the fire salamanders as if they were just pets belonging to a friend.

Coming out as their mother now would be way too late—it’d only cause confusion and discomfort for them. So, their blood ties will remain a secret. She’ll keep loving them just as she always has.

As for the flame witch, following Hiyori’s instructions, she will live in the shadows, quietly supporting and watching over the fire salamanders.

She’s been granted permission to stay at the Flame witch’s estate and will remain in Tokyo for now to provide cultural education to Sekitan and Mokutan.

After the Gremlin disaster, the flame witch worked hard to master fire control, and passing that knowledge on will be incredibly valuable to the newly emerged fire salamanders. She’ll also provide sex education that includes species-specific knowledge when the time comes.

Eventually, she will also track down Tsubaki and educate her as well.

As with Hiyori, the blood relationship will not be revealed to any of the three.

When the scandal surrounding the ancestors was exposed, the fourth flame witch brought up issues of inheritance and succession rights.

I had always suspected something based on that massive mansion in the middle of the industrial district and the number of servants, but it turns out the flame witch clan—the Himori family—is obscenely rich. Issues of inheritance and property rights are incredibly important.

The Himori family controls nearly all the factory rights in the Shinagawa district. Their vast wealth amounts to 2.4% of the nation’s GDP.

That number might not mean much at first glance, but think of them like the oil barons or real estate moguls of the previous era—true powerhouses, not just nouveau riche or mid-level wealthy. They have global influence.

Their business began with metalwork—melting down outdated metal relics from the old world and turning them into new products fit for the times.

With the arrival of magic script, they expanded into magic alloy manufacturing.

When metals like Abyss Gold and Hollow Silver were invented, they took on those too, raking in enormous profits.

Through company acquisitions and partnerships with dragon witches, they established a fully integrated supply chain from mining to product sales. They also funded magic universities and invested heavily in their own R&D institutions.

Recently, innovation in petroleum plankton production at Lake Biwa has increased oil output, lowering the barrier for using steam engines. As a result, they’re now focusing on steam engine production and use, and even considering buying up oil plants.

Massive further growth is expected.
