Chapter 150: The Decision
The red-faced monkey group soon vanished without a trace, and the immediate danger was over.
The lizardmen unit from the south continued to approach the dwarf team. Since Sally and the others didn’t know the lizardmen’s intentions, they maintained a cautious watch.
The lizardmen stopped about seven or eight meters away, and Acting Chief Kerman stepped forward a few paces, asking with concern, “Friends of the dwarf race, are you all alright?”
Unexpectedly, the lizardmen’s tone was quite friendly. This allowed Sally and the others to relax slightly, and they gradually lowered their weapons.
“We’re fine.”
As the representative of her team, Sally replied to the lizardmen.
“Thank you for coming to our aid.”
“You’re welcome. This is the territory of the Sinking Sand Tribe. How could we stand by and do nothing while a guest’s teammates are in danger?”
“A guest?”
Sally narrowed her eyes, slightly puzzled.
“That’s right…”
Kerman explained.
“Not long ago, your unfortunate team leader, Lord Tithion, who fell into the river, was discovered and rescued by my tribe members.”
As he spoke, he turned to look behind him, but Tithion’s figure was nowhere to be seen.
“Huh? Where is he?”
Kerman also looked confused. Wasn’t Tillion supposed to follow closely behind them? Where had he gone?
Meanwhile, a commotion came from the lizardmen unit behind them.
“Let me see, just for a little while—it won’t take any meat off you, don’t be so stingy.”
“No! Let go right now!”
That was Tithion’s voice. Kerman looked toward his unit and asked.
“What’s going on?”
The lizardmen quickly scattered to the sides, revealing the scene:
Tillion was tugging at a lizardmen’s clothing, pleading for them to let him look at and touch the firearm they were holding.
“Your spears are crude, yet you’ve made a weapon I’ve never seen before. Please, just let me see the weapon in your hands.”
Earlier, when Kerman had come to ask questions, Tillion had noticed two lizardmen carrying a strange “iron tube” on their backs.
As a master weaponsmith, he was extremely sensitive to any weapon he had never seen before, though he had managed to maintain his composure—until he witnessed how the lizardmen had used the “iron tube” to attack the red-faced monkeys. He was completely captivated by this new weapon.
What was its name? How was it constructed inside? How did it shoot lead balls at enemies? What was its power? Its range? And so on.
Tillion wanted nothing more than to snatch the “iron tube” from the lizardmen and take it apart for a proper study.
So now, he no longer cared about appearances and kept begging the lizardmen.
“No!”
The lizardmen firmly shook his head.
“I won’t give you the firearm.”
During his training in Bianshu Town, he had been taught that as a musketeer, he must care for and maintain his gun and could never casually hand it over to someone else.
“Oh! So this weapon is called a ‘musketeer’s gun’—the barrel really does shoot a brief flash of fire when used. That’s a good name. No wonder you’re called musketeers!”
Having solved the first mystery in his mind, Tillion’s face lit up with ecstatic joy.
He held tightly onto the musketeer’s clothing. With no other option, he looked pleadingly at Kerman.
“Acting Chief, what should I do?”
Kerman had been momentarily stunned when he first saw this scene.
It wasn’t until one of his tribe members called to him that he snapped back to reality, saying,
“This… Lord Tithion…”
At that moment, Sally swiftly walked past Kerman, clearly furious, and headed straight toward Tithion.
“Tithion! What are you doing?”
Sally rushed to Tithion’s side and grabbed his ear with a firm tug.
“Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!”
Tithion yelped in pain and had no choice but to let go of the lizardmen’s clothing he had been clutching, as Sally forcibly pulled him away.
Once she dragged Tithion in front of Kerman, Sally released his ear and apologized with a bow.
“We’re truly sorry. Our team leader caused you such trouble.”
Rubbing his reddened ear, Tithion muttered softly.
“It hurts so much… Sally, couldn’t you be a little gentler?”
“You’d better apologize quickly!”
Sally glared fiercely at him.
Shivering under her gaze, Tithion obediently bowed and apologized:
“I’m sorry, Acting Chief Kerman. I lost my composure earlier.”
“Oh… it’s nothing.”
Kerman, not wanting to make a fuss, accepted their apologies.
“Captain, we’re so glad you’re safe!”
“You made us so worried! When we get back, Captain, you better take out that treasured wine and let us have a proper drink.”
“Captain, I won’t ever say your poop stinks again.”
The other dwarves crowded around Tithion, relieved that he had survived such a disaster.
“I’m so strong, how could anything happen to me?”
Tithion replied.
“Get lost! That wine? I didn’t even dare drink it myself, let alone serve you. No way!”
“Mur, your poop stinks more!”
Tithion responded to each comment in turn.
After this “heartwarming” reunion scene ended, Tithion approached Kerman again, stroking his beard as he made a request.
“Acting Chief Kerman, I’m extremely interested in the muskets you’ve made. Could I have the chance to communicate with the craftsmen who created them?”
Hearing this, Kerman shook his head helplessly.
Before he could explain, Tillion eagerly interjected:
“Why not? I, Tithion, am a renowned craftsman from the Femit-Gon Kingdom and possess many advanced blacksmithing skills. Exchanging techniques with your craftsmen would be highly beneficial for your lizardmen as well.”
“No, it’s not that it’s impossible.”
Kerman slowly explained:
“It’s just that these muskets were not made by us lizardmen.”
“What?!”
Tithion’s eyes widened in shock, but then he thought it through: of course, even your spears are so crude, so such a finely made musket couldn’t possibly have been made by lizardmen.
“Then who made them?”
He asked.
“Humans—from Bianshu Town.”
“What?!”
Tithion was stunned again, his eyes practically popping out.
Humans could make muskets? He had never heard of such a thing before, and they were still buying large quantities of weapons made by dwarves. Could muskets have just been recently invented?
Given this, Tithion felt it was necessary to go to Bianshu Town personally and investigate.
He immediately made a decision:
“Acting Chief Kerman, where is Bianshu Town? I need to go there and have a proper exchange with the blacksmiths.”
“Eh? What about our mission?”
Mur asked in surprise.
“It’s almost finished anyway.”
Tithion waved indifferently to the group.
“You all can head back and report the results as is.”
