Chapter 149: Inquiring About the Situation

When Tithion woke up, he found himself in an unfamiliar environment, lying in bed with a animal hide covering him.

“Ugh—”

Sitting up, Tithion felt a sharp headache and had to rub his forehead.

“Am I… still alive?”

He vaguely remembered that, in order to avoid the attack of the dog demon leader, he had leapt into the river. After that, his consciousness had gone hazy, and he couldn’t recall anything.

“Ah! You’re awake!”

At that moment, a female lizardmen who had just come in from outside exclaimed.

“Please continue lying down and don’t move around. I’ll go get the acting chief to come.”

Lizardmen?!

Tillion was shocked—he had been saved by lizardmen?

Ignoring the warning of the female lizardmen, he quickly got out of bed and dashed outside the wooden hut.

Seeing lizardmen moving about outside, Tithion confirmed that he really was in a lizardmen village.

“Hey! You dwarf.”

A nearby Blackwind tribesman raised a spear and aimed it at Tillion, warning.

“Our acting chief will come to question you shortly. Please go back inside.”

Tillion hated being threatened with a weapon. However, since all his belongings had been taken by the lizardmen and this was their territory, it was wiser to be cautious.

“Hmph! Fine, but don’t point that crude weapon at me!”

With that, Tithion obediently turned and went back inside.

Having heard that the dwarf they brought in had awakened, Kerman soon arrived, bringing a small wooden stool and sitting down in front of Tillion.

Also present were a female elder of the Sinking Sand Tribe, Xilong—the lizardmen who had saved Tithion—and two tribesmen carrying guns.

To show goodwill, Kerman first introduced himself:

“Greetings, dwarf friend. I am Kerman, acting chief of the Sinking Sand Tribe.”

The acting chief’s demeanor was quite decent; it seemed the lizardmen were not as rough as he had imagined.

Tillion, whose mood had been slightly upset after being threatened with a weapon, calmed down and replied, “My name is Tillion, a citizen of the Femit-Gon Kingdom.”

“I know that.”

Kerman had learned about the nations of the world while studying human writing in Bianshu Town.

Among them, the Femit-Gon Kingdom and the Vinora Council State had caught his attention, as they were the only two nations ruled by non-human races, while the rest were human nations.

“However, Tithion, why did you appear deep in the Mysterious Forest? I heard from the report by your tribesmen that you seem to have fallen into the water and were carried here by the river.”

“I was attacked by a pack of dog demons…”

Tithion recounted his entire experience to them; there was nothing to hide.

“I see…”

Kerman nodded.

The female elder stepped forward and asked.

“So you were leading a survey team, conducting exploration in the Transverse Mountains along the upper reaches of the Wen River. You traveled all the way here—what was your purpose?”

“Purpose?”

Tithion thought for a moment and decided to tell them.

“We’re planning to build a new underground city called Nuwa, which is why multiple survey teams were sent to explore the surrounding surface areas.”

Tillion thought that, since the dwarves would eventually have to interact with these lizardfolk during city construction, it wouldn’t hurt to tell them now.

“An underground city… Nuwa?”

The female elder looked somewhat confused.

“An underground city is a city built beneath the surface, where the dwarves live.”

Kerman explained.

“Their Femit-Gon Kingdom consists of three underground cities: the capital Rhudaur, Ambira, and Uzken.”

“Whoa! Acting Chief Kerman, you seem to know quite a lot about us dwarves.”

Tithion was slightly surprised. Before coming here, he had heard that the lizardmen of this area lived deep in the Mysterious Forest for generations and rarely interacted with outsiders.

Yet the acting chief in front of him was remarkably knowledgeable—completely different from what he had expected.

Looking back, Kerman was quite grateful for the time he spent studying in Bianshu Town. It had greatly broadened his horizons, giving him knowledge beyond just the teachings of his ancestors.

“Since you were carried here by the river, the place where you plan to build the new underground city isn’t far from our village, right?”

“Hmm—”

Tithion thought for a moment.

“Yes, generally speaking, it’s to the north from here. The main body of the underground city will be inside the Transverse Mountains.”

So it’s that close. It seemed that figuring out how to coexist with this new neighbor would be an important matter for the Green Lizard Alliance.

Just as Kerman was about to ask the next question, a tribesman hurriedly ran in.

“Acting Chief, the scouts on the northern side discovered a dwarf team under attack by a group of red-faced monkeys. Their numbers are large, and the dwarves’ situation doesn’t look good.”

“What?!”

Tithion anxiously stood up.

“That must be my teammates coming to find me—I have to save them!”

No sooner had he spoken than he dashed outside impatiently.

“Wait!”

Xilong stepped forward in time to block him.

“You don’t even have a weapon right now. Do you plan to fight red-faced monkeys empty-handed?”

“Don’t be in such a hurry, Tithion.”

Kerman also rose, his expression serious.

“Since this is happening on Sinking Sand Tribe territory, let us send people to rescue your teammates.”

“Alright, please hurry!”

Tithion nodded immediately without hesitation.

“Xilong.”

Kerman gave his orders.

“Quickly gather ten musketeers and twenty spearmen. Follow me to rescue that dwarf team.”

“Yes!”

Xilong dashed out of the house.

The thirty-person team was quickly assembled, and Kerman led them at full speed to the site of the battle.

In the dense forest, Sally and the other dwarves were struggling against the red-faced monkeys.

The red-faced monkeys were extremely cunning, rarely attacking head-on. Instead, they leaped among the branches, waiting for the right moment to jump down and ambush their enemies.

Whether the ambush succeeded or not, they would immediately climb back into the trees, frustrating Sally and the others.

Whoosh—

An arrow shot straight into a tree trunk, missing the red-faced monkey.

Sally, annoyed, took out the next arrow, nocked it, and fixed her eyes on the next monkey.

Bang!

Suddenly, a gunshot rang out nearby, and a red-faced monkey fell from the tree—dead.

Following the sound, Sally and her team saw a group of lizardmen approaching from the south, using their “iron tubes” to attack the monkeys in the trees.

“Sally, those are lizardmen!”

Mur said, alarmed.

“Don’t panic—they’re attacking the red-faced monkeys. At least they aren’t our enemies.”

Sally quickly made a judgment, telling her team to focus on the monkeys in the trees first and deal with other matters after the fight.

That gunshot had actually been fired by Xilong; no one else’s aim was that precise.

The lizardmen reinforcements spread out, with two spearmen protecting a musketeer, approaching the dwarf team while shooting at the red-faced monkeys.

No matter how cunning the monkeys were, they couldn’t match the speed of the lead balls, and several were shot down in succession.

Seeing this, the leader among the red-faced monkeys quickly realized the lizardmen were not to be trifled with. It decisively ordered the group to abandon their targets and flee elsewhere.

In this way, Sally and the others were successfully rescued.
