Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 2
“Girls, stick to the sides! Isaka, take the front of the girls! Shigeru, you’re with me—we’re taking down that wolf monster!”
“Got it. I’ll guard them. Everyone, keep an eye on the surroundings.”
“Understood, Isaka-kun! But I can use magic, so let me know if there’s anything I can help with!”
“Kouhei! There’s another one!”
Oh? They’re already fighting. And judging by how they move, this isn’t their first battle.
I see—they must’ve encountered these things a few times and managed to fend them off.
As I walked into the forest and followed what looked like a game trail, I came upon an open area up ahead where my classmates—no, former classmates—were engaged in combat.
That bitch seems to have learned magic. Shigeru is swinging some fancy-looking club—or maybe it’s called a mace?—and Kouhei is using a sword that looks kind of cheap and basic.
Meanwhile, Isaka looks fairly composed and is guarding the group of girls who don’t seem like fighters.
“You two, I’ll help out. Muraki-kun, switch with me. I’ll finish this.”
“Tch… alright, I’ll leave it to you!”
Then, Isaka stepped in front of the monster, parried its attacks barehanded, and threw it aside.
Huh. Isaka’s strong. What kind of wish did he make?
Kazunuma then drove his sword into the wolf monster that had been flung aside, delivering the finishing blow.
“Phew… we can actually manage this. Maybe we really can get out of this forest.”
“Yeah… but Isaka’s wish really caught me off guard. ‘Make me the strongest’—I mean, wow.”
“It’s a simple answer. With this, I shouldn’t lose.”
“And thanks to Shigeru’s wish for ‘the strongest weapon,’ he just has to land a hit and the monster goes flying. Way more useful than my ‘Make my body tougher’ wish.”
I see… “Make me the strongest,” huh. I wonder if he specified where he wanted to be strongest?
That demon definitely twists people’s words. There must’ve been some kind of hidden condition.
Like, for example—“Make me the strongest in this place right now.”
“Strongest” is meaningless without context. It always depends on comparison, and it can change.
If that’s the case, maybe he was the strongest inside that mansion. Or not—if he were stronger than the demon, that would’ve been a problem. I doubt that demon would allow that kind of risk.
“So… he became the strongest among us, huh.”
If he’d made the wish after I did, maybe he’d be stronger than I am now. What a waste.
This is what happens when you all try to outpace each other.
“Still… Shizuma’s not giving up, huh…”
“Yeah. When I talked to him, he said, ‘I’ll think of a wish that gets me back to Japan until the very last minute. You all go on ahead.'”
“Well, he’s clever. He’ll probably come up with a good wish and catch up eventually.”
“Hmm… worst case, maybe he’s planning to just wish for a peaceful life in the mansion. If he doesn’t want to go out, it wouldn’t be weird for him to shift in that direction.”
That girl… What’s her game? Is she the one who spread lies about me?
She made sure to get magic for herself, and yet… why didn’t anyone even try to wait for me?
“Well, whatever. I mean, like, he doesn’t really fit with us, right? I don’t even know why we were in the same group. Was he just leftover?”
“You know, our chaperone, Yoshioka-sensei, had really old-school thinking.”
“Ahh, that makes sense. Maybe he thought putting Shizuma—who always went home right away—with the rest of us, who always hung out together, would do him some good.”
“Ugh, we didn’t need that. I don’t get why we had to babysit someone like him during a school trip.”
Oh wow, say whatever you want, huh?
If I stick around, I’m gonna get pissed and probably do something I’ll regret. Better to move on.
So I left them behind and headed deeper into the forest in a different direction.
Eventually, I heard the sound of running water.
I followed it and found a river—not large, but definitely more than a stream.
I figured if I followed it, it’d lead somewhere.
After walking for a while, I reached a huge cliff.
The water was cascading down powerfully, merging with other streams to form a massive waterfall.
It looked like something out of Niagara Falls.
“Ah… there’s a building on that cliff over there.”
I moved quickly—didn’t want the others to catch up and pass me.
But it looked like they had already passed me.
In the plaza in front of the building, they were fighting a monster that looked like a giant bear.
Hmm… maybe someone in the group has an ability to pick the correct path?
Oh, wait—I think I also have a magic like that.
“Still… they’re kind of in the way. Oh well.”
I ignored them and just walked across the battlefield toward the building.
“An enemy!?”
“No, a person? Excuse me—can you understand us?!”
Ignored. I tried to just walk past them, but then one of the same type of monsters turned toward me.
“Outta my way.”
With a single swing of my hand, I sent it flying at incredible speed.
Yup, still strong. That makes sense.
Even in the game, I could take down dragons ten times my size—there’s no way I’d struggle with this kind of monster.
“What the—?!”
“He took it out in one hit?!”
“Amazing… Please, help us!”
Would it be bad if I ignored them now?
Nope, I’m ignoring them.
Goodbye. I have no sympathy for any of you.
Even if the lies came from that girl, you all still abandoned me without question.
“Wait, come on!”
“There’s still one more! Shigeru, focus!”
“Damn it…!”
“I’m supposed to be the strongest… So why…?”
Not my problem. You’re probably the strongest among yourselves.
Still… I guess I’ll leave you a single healing potion. Just one.
Share it. Don’t fight over it—not that I expect that’ll stop you.
The place I arrived at turned out to be more like a checkpoint than a building.
It was just a gate and a passage—no one else around.
And as I passed through—
“Oh! The first one has arrived! He made it out safely—a success!”
What awaited me were people dressed in medieval-style armor like something out of a fantasy game or movie.
There were also figures in noble-looking outfits… and a man wearing a crown.
Wow. This place is full-on fantasy.
“Hero, may I ask your name?”
The man—clearly the king—addressed me.
“Hero,” huh? You really talk like an old-school RPG NPC.
Well, if you want a name… I’ll use my character’s name.
“‘Silent.’ Tell me where I am and who you people are.”
It comes from Shizuma (my real name), where “shizu” means “silent.”
This is my character from the online game ElderSea Online.
I cleared all the endgame content—this character is no joke.
I usually don’t bother roleplaying, but right now? The situation calls for it.
Can’t afford to get underestimated.
So I responded bluntly, without showing any friendliness.
“How dare you speak to the king like that—!”
“It’s fine. He knows nothing yet. This is the continent of ‘Dusterfil,’ and the country is the ‘Kingdom of Golda.’ I am its king. You are… the hero summoned by this kingdom from another world.”
“Why did you summon me? Can I go back?”
“The reason… is to send you into those realms you passed through—the so-called ‘dungeons’—and retrieve something. With your power, I can strengthen the kingdom and create peace. As for returning to your world… it might be possible. The spell used to summon you came from a dungeon, so perhaps a way back exists in one of them.”
You didn’t even prepare a way back, huh.
You’re totally planning to use us up and toss us aside. No doubt about it—you’re pretending to bring peace, but you’re probably planning to take over the world.
“By the way… was there anyone else besides you, Silent-sama?”
“Yes. A few others, a group of young people wearing unfamiliar clothing. I believe they were summoned from a different world than mine.”
“What! So it’s possible for people to be summoned from different worlds at the same time…”
“Your Majesty, could this be because we used a mixed offering of different races as the sacrifice?”
“Hmm… But it also supports the theory that ‘multiple, infinite worlds exist,’ doesn’t it?”
Sacrifice? Wait—what? Did they sacrifice someone to summon us?
Okay, my distrust toward these people is skyrocketing right now.
“Silent-sama, would you mind waiting here a little longer? If others appear, we’ll bring all of you to the castle together. We will ensure you are treated well. We want you to learn about this world.”
“…Fine.”
Honestly, I’d love to ignore all this and just bolt, but if I can learn more about this world, I guess I’ll endure it.
Once I’m done with my business, I better ditch this country and run. No question.
You know what? Maybe I’ll just do whatever I want from now on.
I was escorted by a soldier—probably one of the king’s men—and left alone inside a large tent.
While I had time, I figured I’d check what I could do in this character’s state. I opened the menu.
Options Menu
Inventory
Equipment
Character Status
Map / Quests
Mail / Chat
Logout / Change Character
Whoa… it’s all exactly the same! But ‘Logout’? Wait, does that mean logging out of life? Is this like a one-touch suicide button?
“Well, I guess that makes sense since I didn’t technically log in anywhere… Better not mess with it for now…”
And then there’s ‘Change Character’—wait, what?”
“I can choose… another one?”
No way, I can even become my storage characters and alts!?
Seriously!? I gotta try this out.
I navigated the menu and moved the cursor from ‘Silent’ to the one right below it, ‘Rent’.
(Guess the name’s origin. I’m not great at naming, okay?)
Suddenly, my body was enveloped in light, and the next thing I knew, my point of view was way lower.
“A-Ah… Damn, I didn’t notice earlier, but my voice totally changed!”
I looked at my hand. Tiny! A child’s hand! My robe was oversized and baggy! Cute!
When I touched my face—small and smooth. Where’s a mirror, I need a mirror.
“Ah, found one. Whoa, no way… You know the old saying: ‘Yes to lolita, no to touch.’ But what if I am the lolita now…!?”
Reflected in the mirror was a girl with light brown hair.
A classic elf—long ears, the kind you see in fantasy stories getting attacked by orcs or having their forest homes burned. A beautiful young girl—no, a beautiful little girl.
“No way… I’m not into lolis or anything, but this is seriously cute… I’m glad I made this one for fun…”
Then, noise came from outside, followed by a loud voice:
“This is bullshit! You summoned us without permission and now you’re saying we can’t go back!?”
Looks like the others finally came out. I hurriedly switched back to my original character, Silent.
In the mirror, I saw a stern-faced man.
A scarred face, sharp eyes—definitely had the vibe of a battle-hardened veteran.
Also, one of those cool, rugged guys you only find in games. Mmm… perfect for roleplay.
I’ll have to check all my characters’ appearances later.
“Silent-sama, pardon me. The others have appeared, so we’ll now escort you all together.”
“Got it.”
When I stepped out of the tent, I saw all my former classmates—none missing.
Judging from the yelling earlier, they were probably given the same explanation I got.
“Ah! You! From earlier! What’s your deal!? Why didn’t you help us!?”
“Don’t know you. I’m not the type to help strangers in a strange land. For all I knew, you could’ve been monsters.”
“Monsters!?”
“Apparently, I was summoned from a different world than both this one and yours.”
I explained that to the angry Muraki and his group, then turned my back on them as if to say “conversation over,” and boarded the carriage ahead of them.
So… what now? After I learn the basics and figure out how this world works… should I run?
I just can’t trust these people—or this country. Something feels off.
Inside the carriage, the seats were softer and more comfortable than I expected. Guess this world has a decent level of tech.
“E-Excuse me, do you mind if I sit next to you?”
Inami sat beside me.
“You’re really strong, aren’t you? Did you come from a world with monsters?”
Ignored. I get it now. She’s trying to cozy up to me. I’ve figured out she’s not someone I can trust. She’s that classic “looks sweet, but is rotten inside” type. Got totally fooled.
Even as Inami and the others kept trying to talk to me, I ignored every one of them as the carriage carried us forward—
