Chapter 12: Strange Magic

But now that I think about it, it’s not just the spell that lights a flame at my fingertips that’s strange. My ‘Blaze Shot’ is also absurdly powerful.

It’s better to be strong, so I thought it was fine, but I can’t ignore this any longer.

“My fire magic is strange.”

The most likely cause of this strangeness is the presence of Ifrit.

I inherited Ifrit’s power. Because of that, I lost the ability to control five attributes. This is a major reason why I was removed as the heir of the marquis family.

But think about it.

I inherited Ifrit’s power. Is it normal for the magic I use to be ordinary?

At the end of the story, Leonhart unleashes Ifrit’s power and incinerates the evil god. It has that much power.

What happens when you use magic with such great power?

“Could it be that I was… mistaken?”

I thought that by inheriting Ifrit’s power, Leonhart had learned incredible magic that surpassed the protagonist’s.

But that seems to be wrong.

“Fire Lance”

I used the spell to test my theory.

To learn ‘Fire Lance,’ you need to have a certain level of mastery of ‘Fireball.’ With my current mastery level, I shouldn’t be able to use this spell.

Boom!

The spell activated.

The fiery spear struck the wall of the boss room, continuing to burn and even melting the wall.

“Stop.”

At my command, the flames of ‘Fire Lance’ vanished as if they had never existed.

“Haha… So this is the magic of a great spirit…!”

I was at a loss for words due to its sheer power.

“Huh? Pain?”

At that moment, I felt a throbbing pain and looked down at my left arm.

“Oh, gross…”

My left arm was in a terrible state. The flesh had burst, and white bone was protruding.

“Oh, it’s completely ruined…”

But perhaps due to the severity of the injury, my senses seemed numb, and I felt only a dull pain. It felt surreal.

Maybe that’s why I calmly took a potion out of my backpack and poured it over my left arm. After using one potion, my left arm was completely restored. It was the most expensive potion in the city, and its effectiveness was amazing.

“I’m glad it’s healed. Now, let’s see what the reward is.”

I opened the large treasure chest placed in the center of the room and found a magical staff inside. The white wooden handle ended in a crescent shape, with a red gemstone floating at its center.

“Wow, an Ancient Rod. This is a good find.”

Of course, it’s not the best equipment, but it’s quite good for something you can get early on.

“What should I do… Maybe I’ll give it to Celia.”

I don’t need it anymore, and Celia is working hard on her magic studies.

“I hope she’ll like it.”

I hooked the Ancient Rod onto my backpack and headed toward the stairs at the back of the room.

At that moment,

Growl!

“Haha… I guess I’m in trouble.”

My stomach growled, making me aware of my hunger. Once I noticed, it was too late. I sat down on the boss room floor and took out a large cloth-wrapped bundle and a bottle from my backpack.

“Let’s see, what do we have today?”

Unwrapping the large cloth revealed a beautiful assortment of sandwiches. I wiped my hands with the wet towel included and began eating right away.

The vegetables were fresh and crisp, the thick-cut ham, bacon, and eggs were delicious.

These sandwiches were made by the chef at home. Since I have a big appetite, I sometimes get hungry and go to the kitchen myself. Over time, I became familiar with the chefs.

Now, they even make packed meals for me upon request.

“Delicious. Teaching them how to make mayonnaise was the right call.”

Teaching the chefs how to make mayonnaise had expanded the variety of sauces they could make. Thanks to that, I can enjoy such tasty food. I’m really grateful.

Knowing my large appetite, the chefs included sides like potatoes and sausages, which I appreciated.

In the country I live in, sausages are called wurst, and there are many varieties. There are many flavors that didn’t exist in Japan, so I can eat a lot. The mustard complements them well. Both the mustard and the wurst are homemade, and I have to commend the chefs for that.

“Yum, yum.”

I popped the cork off the bottle and gulped down the orange juice inside.

Even this orange juice was freshly squeezed by the chefs.

The food was simply too delicious. Back in Japan, I wasn’t much of an eater, but my taste sensors must have been dull back then. Since reincarnating, every meal has been a delight. It’s truly moving.

“It’s already gone…”

But everything comes to an end. Before I knew it, I had finished my meal.

“Well, can’t be helped. Let’s move on…”

Feeling a slight sense of melancholy, I headed down the stairs to the sixth floor.
