Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 49: Is the Third Princess a Big Deal?
“Alright, the sun’s set. Let’s get started.”
I called out to Nara, who was following me, but there was no response.
“Nara?”
“…What is this? Teleportation magic? Flight magic? Maya-san, this is insane!”
Nara was in awe that we had arrived at the gates of the Admos royal capital in an instant using teleportation and flight magic.
Success—a perfect surprise.
“Of course, it’s insane. I’m the only one in this world who can use these spells.”
“…How do you even know magic like this?”
“It was in a magic guidebook owned by the demon who taught me magic.”
“That’s it? But if that’s the case, wouldn’t all demons be able to use teleportation and flight magic? Why is it just you, Maya-san?”
Fair question.
“Well, that guidebook was treated as a joke among demons. Apparently, no one else ever managed to learn from it.”
“And yet, you did…”
“Yup. Must be an isekai bonus, right? I guess my knowledge from the original world came in handy.”
When I said that, Nara seemed to accept it.
“So, going to high school paid off after all?”
“Pretty much.”
“Oh, but if that’s the case, doesn’t that mean Ota could learn it too…?”
Oh yeah, we were just talking about Ota, the other summoned one, who might soon be exiled. If he survives, he might also try to learn those spells.
“I don’t think you need to worry about that.”
“Why do you say that so confidently?”
“Because that guidebook doesn’t exist anymore.”
“Huh?”
“Also, the demons who taught me magic all died when they stormed the royal castle with me.”
“…What?”
They probably thought they’d become stronger by watching my magic. But they recklessly charged in and got themselves killed.
It was like they thought they were entrusting the rest to me or something, but hey, I’m a summoned hero from the human side. Sure, our short-term goal (defeating the demon king) aligned, but our ultimate objectives were entirely different. I wanted to remind them of that until the very end.
Not that I did.
“According to Meyleen, after the previous demon king collapsed, the rebel demons’ hideout was raided. All the magic books in the hideout were labeled forbidden texts and burned, along with the hideout itself.”
“So that’s what happened…”
“Yup. So for now, I’m the only one who can use teleportation and flight magic. Oh, by the way, if you’re interested in learning magic, I could teach you.”
“Seriously?!”
Whoa.
Nara’s excitement was higher than I’d ever seen since we first met. Guess magic really is every guy’s dream.
“I swear I’ll never betray you, Maya-san!”
“Good to hear. Well, I’m sure you already know better than anyone what would happen if you did… right?”
I stared straight into Nara’s eyes as I spoke, and cold sweat started forming on his forehead.
“O-of course… I’d never betray you… no way…”
“Good. Now then, let’s start the Admos Castle infiltration operation.”
“Got it!”
Hearing Nara’s response, I slipped into the night’s shadows and used magic to leap over the castle wall.
Even with the physical abilities of humans, scaling this wall would be nearly impossible, which made the guards around it lax.
Just as Nara, who had once lived in the royal castle, had informed me, we managed to sneak in with ease.
“Over there is where our rooms used to be, and this is the area where the royal family lives.”
“Got it. I’ll cast a soundproofing spell too.”
With a soundproofing spell that prevents sound waves from escaping, we could talk in close proximity without being noticed.
“…Maya-san, you’re seriously OP.”
“Call it the result of hard work. I couldn’t use these spells from the start.”
The only “cheat” thing about me is my enormous mana pool.
“Is this the right way?”
“Ah, yes. I’ve walked this path many times while I was here, so I remember it.”
“Many times, huh?”
When I smirked and said that, Nara didn’t panic—he blushed.
“…Yeah.”
“What’s this? Aren’t you supposed to say something like, ‘N-no, that’s not it!’ or ‘You’ve got it wrong!’?”
“Nah, there’s no point in denying it. Eva and I are in that kind of relationship now.”
“Fair enough.”
It seems Nara-kun might have had a girlfriend even back in our original world.
He’s already past the stage where teasing about a girlfriend would make him flustered.
How boring.
“Besides, Maya-san, you’ve even got kids, right? Being around people as mature as you makes me feel like a child. I’ve been trying to act less childish because of it.”
So that’s how it is.
“Well, don’t overdo it. Pretending to be more grown-up than you are can get exhausting.”
“You think so?”
“Can’t trust the advice of your senior?”
“…That’s pretty convincing.”
We chatted as we walked down the royal castle’s corridors.
Using magic to detect presences, we managed to avoid anyone approaching, hiding ourselves before encountering anyone. Eventually, we arrived at a particular door.
“This is Princess Evangelene’s room.”
“Got it. Wait a second.”
I stopped Nara just as he was about to knock and cast a detection spell into the room.
It seemed there was only one person inside.
“All right, Nara. Go ahead and knock.”
“Understood.”
With my go-ahead, Nara knocked on the door.
“Yes?”
“Eva… it’s me, Mitsuhiko.”
…Oh, so Nara’s actual name is Mitsuhiko.
I’d gotten so used to calling him Nara-kun that I’d completely forgotten.
While I was thinking about such trivial things, I heard the sound of hurried footsteps and the click of a lock being undone from inside the room.
At that moment, I activated a soundproofing spell.
As the door opened, a girl in a nightgown burst out and embraced Nara.
“Mitsuhiko-sama! Oh, I’m so glad you’re safe!!”
“…Sorry for worrying you.”
“No, no. I believed in you! I knew you’d be safe… and that you’d come back to get me!”
“Eva…”
“Uh, sorry to interrupt your little reunion, but could you let us in?”
If I didn’t step in, I’d probably end up watching an overly dramatic love scene, so I intentionally inserted myself between the two.
“Eh?! W-who are you!?”
“An earlier summoned hero. More importantly, if you two keep this up here, someone’s bound to see. Hurry up and let us in.”
“Ah! Y-yes!”
The princess quickly ushered us into her room.
Once inside, she sat on the sofa, while I took a seat opposite her. The princess gave me a suspicious look.
“You’re the earlier summoned hero… Kenta Maya, correct?”
“Oh, you know me?”
“Of course. You’re famous, after all…”
Even as she spoke, the princess’s face was clouded with wariness.
Sitting beside her, Nara gently took her hand in his.
“Eva, please listen to Maya-san’s story first. You can decide what you think of him afterward.”
“Mitsuhiko-sama… Understood. I don’t know what this is about, but please, go ahead and tell me.”
With the princess’s agreement, I told her the same story I had shared with Nara-kun.
When I recounted Lindor’s betrayal, her eyes widened. When I mentioned being falsely accused and nearly executed, she was outraged. She clapped when I described escaping the capital after half-destroying it. And when I told her about reuniting with Meyleen and becoming her husband, she was deeply moved.
What’s with this girl?
She expresses her emotions so openly—completely uncharacteristic for royalty.
“And so, as it stands, I’m likely to be punished by your father. That’s why I’ve decided to stay with Maya-san.”
Nara said, getting to the main point.
“…What?”
Hearing this, the princess froze for a moment, her eyes wide in shock. Then, with a determined look, she spoke.
“Mitsuhiko-sama.”
“Yes?”
“Please, take me with you!”
The princess grasped Nara’s hand tightly and shouted.
“I thought you were summoned for the sake of this world, but to think it was for such selfish purposes! I’m utterly disappointed in Father!”
“…Are you sure? He’s still your father.”
“A man who sees Mitsuhiko-sama as nothing more than a tool for war is no father of mine! Besides, he was hardly ever around when I was a child. Mitsuhiko-sama is far more important to me than he ever was!”
The princess accepted Nara’s proposal without hesitation.
Normally, this kind of easy agreement would be a red flag. But based on her earlier, completely open display of emotions, it’s clear she’s not the type to hide her true feelings.
As the youngest princess, she was probably spoiled while growing up.
Taking her words at face value, I turned to the princess.
“Alright then, sorry to rush you, but could you pack your things? Oh, and forget about dresses; there’s no place to wear them. My wife has plenty of clothes, so just bring essentials like makeup, sentimental items, or things you absolutely can’t leave behind.”
“Understood! I’ll prepare right away!”
With that, the princess rang the bell on the table.
“…Huh? The maids aren’t coming.”
“Seriously?”
This princess… She was about to run away from home and still planned on having the maids pack for her.
“Sorry, but no sound can leave this room—I cast a soundproofing spell. Also, you can’t rely on the maids to pack when you’re about to run away.”
“Oh, you’re right.”
I thought I’d been pretty firm, but she didn’t seem to mind at all and started packing herself.
With Nara-kun helping her, the packing was finished surprisingly quickly.
“Alright, could you change into the simplest dress you have for now?”
“Understood!”
She grabbed Nara’s hand and pulled him into the adjacent room.
“Wait, what? Why!?”
“Mitsuhiko-sama, I can’t dress myself in a gown. Please assist me.”
“Seriously…?”
“I can’t help you with that. Go on.”
“Fine… I got it.”
And so, the princess dragged Nara-kun off to change.
Still… this princess is something else.
She doesn’t get angry at my complete lack of respect, she listens to what I say, and she’s cooperative.
Could she actually understand everything about this situation and be acting accordingly? If so, that’s impressive.
Am I overestimating her?
Well, if she’s that cheerful, it looks like she won’t feel too stressed living at our place, so it’s fine.
“Sorry to keep you waiting!”
After a short while, the princess returned to the room, looking incredibly cheerful.
This girl is seriously something else.
“Alright, we’re heading back home now. And… it was Evangeline, right?”
“Yes! Please, call me Eva!”
“Alright, Eva. You’ll be staying at my place with Nara-kun for a while, but just so you know, we have two babies there. It’s going to be noisy. Is that okay?”
“Oh, babies! This will be my first time seeing them up close!”
When I mentioned the babies, Eva, who probably hasn’t seen one up close before, looked strangely delighted.
Well, that’s one less thing to worry about.
“Let’s head out… Nara-kun, what’s wrong?”
I noticed Nara-kun looking a bit dumbfounded and called out to him. He snapped back to reality.
“Oh, no, it’s just… I didn’t realize Eva was this fearless. It surprised me a bit.”
“Well, it’s better than her whining about not being able to adjust to her new life, right?”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
“Alright then, let’s go. Got your stuff?”
“Yes!”
“Alright, you two, grab onto my arm.”
“Got it.”
“? Your arm?”
“Just do as I say.”
“Understood!”
Following Nara-kun’s advice, Eva obediently grabbed my arm.
Once I confirmed that, I activated the teleportation magic.
“Teleport.”
And just like that, Eva, the youngest princess, disappeared from Admos Castle.
Tomorrow’s going to be chaos, for sure.
“Wow! This is amazing! Truly amazing!!”
As Eva cheered and marveled after arriving instantly at my house, I couldn’t help but think absentmindedly.
Yeah, I overestimated her.
