Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 45: Just a Few Months Since Summoning
“What!? Meyleen-san is Maya-san’s wife!?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Meyleen replied.
After taking care of the Admos soldiers, we were on our way back home, and I introduced Meyleen to Nara-kun—her name and the fact that she’s my wife.
“Huh? Wait, Meyleen-san is a demon, right? Where did you two meet? I mean, aren’t you like an enemy to the demons?”
Nara-kun seemed to be a genuinely justice-driven person, just as the princess had described. Earlier, he even apologized to Meyleen for killing many demons during the war. Considering I defeated the demon king, I imagine he thought I’d be utterly unforgivable to the demon race.
However, Meyleen shook her head, denying his assumptions.
“No. Kenta tried to stop my father. When I was nearly killed, he saved me. And instead of me, he defeated my father… To me, Kenta is a benefactor.”
“Wow… Wait, your father? Who’s your father?”
“He was the former king of the Demon Nation.”
After Meyleen said that, Nara-kun froze. He then slowly turned to look at me, moving like a rusty tin toy.
“…Wait. Meyleen-san is a demon princess!?”
“Actually, since she was crowned for a brief period, she’s technically a former queen.”
“!?”
This time, his jaw dropped, and he froze again.
“Eh? Huh? What?”
It seemed Nara-kun was thoroughly confused.
“Well, this isn’t a conversation for the road. Let’s get home and talk it through calmly. Besides, I bet you have other things on your mind besides Meyleen.”
Hearing this, Nara-kun’s shocked expression shifted into a serious one, and he nodded.
As we exited the forest and reached the grounds of my house, Nara-kun’s eyes widened again.
“Wait… There’s such an open area hidden in the forest… And that house…”
He was staring at the two houses standing side by side.
“One is ours, and the other belongs to a friend and his wife.”
Hearing that, Nara-kun looked more surprised than ever.
“Maya-san, you have friends!?”
“What’s that supposed to mean, huh?”
This time, instead of a headlock, I gave him an iron claw.
“Ouch! My head’s gonna split open!”
I stopped before causing permanent damage.
“Be careful with your words.”
“Y-yeah… Sorry about that.”
…Somehow, Nara-kun was starting to act more and more like a junior colleague. Was he always like this?
As we approached the house, the door opened before we could reach it. Standing there was Mona, who had refused to evacuate with Ivern and the others.
Mona stepped out and bowed deeply.
“Welcome home, Master, Mistress. And…”
She raised her head and looked at Nara-kun.
…Oh, this guy just glanced at her chest.
“This is Mitsuhiko Nara—Nara-kun, the summoned hero who couldn’t take his eyes off Mona’s chest.”
I introduced with a smirk.
“Wait, what kind of introduction is that!?”
“It’s the truth, isn’t it?”
“I couldn’t help it! It’s natural for your eyes to go there!”
“Adults don’t look, Nara-kun.”
“Ugh, you’re so annoying…”
Man, he’s gotten cheeky.
“Nara-kun, this is Mona. She was Meyleen’s maid back when she was a princess, and now she works as a maid in this house.”
“Oh, I’m Mitsuhiko Nara. Nice to meet you.”
“Pleasure to meet you. I’m Mona.”
“Mona, we need to have a talk with Nara-kun, so… Oh yeah, I’ll call Ivern over too. Could you prepare tea for everyone? By the way, Nara-kun, do you prefer tea or coffee?”
“Coffee.”
“Alright, coffee for me, Nara-kun, and Ivern, then.”
“Understood,” Mona replied.
When I gave Mona instructions, she bowed her head and headed to the kitchen.
As Nara-kun watched her walk away, he suddenly turned to me.
“By the way, who’s Ivern?”
“The guy living next door.”
“Oh, the so-called friend, right?”
“…Hearing it phrased like that makes me doubt myself. Maybe he’s just an acquaintance.”
“Come on, Kenta. Saying that will make Ivern cry. Anyway, hurry up and go get him. I want to see Leon soon too.”
Meyleen interjected.
“Right. I’ll go then.”
As I was about to teleport, Nara-kun spoke up again.
“Leon?”
“Our son.”
“…What?”
Leaving the stunned Nara-kun behind, I teleported to fetch Ivern and the others.
“Yo.”
“Whoa! You scared me!”
I teleported directly into Ivern’s apartment, managed by Bennett-san, which served as their base in town. Ivern, startled by my sudden appearance, fell back onto the floor.
His reaction was hilarious.
“Aah!”
Leon, who noticed me, began crawling across the room’s floor toward me.
“Oh, Leon. Were you a good boy?”
As I picked him up, Yulia approached, holding Ayla in her arms.
“Leon’s been down ever since we got here. I think he somehow sensed the danger coming toward you and Meyleen.”
“…I see.”
Leon, now in my arms, clung to me tighter than usual.
…No, it wasn’t my imagination. He was gripping my clothes with more strength than before.
“…Sorry, Leon. For being such a selfish dad and mom.”
“Auu…”
Leon is precious, but Meyleen and I will always put each other first. That’s an unshakable truth. Still, perhaps we’ve neglected Leon a bit too much.
As I hugged Leon tightly, Ivern spoke up.
“So? Judging by that look, I take it the selfish parents managed to work things out?”
Tch. He’s poking fun at me at the perfect moment.
“Annoying… Anyway, I avoided a fight with Nara-kun. I dealt with the Admos soldiers, though.”
“…I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.”
“Do that. Now then, Nara-kun is at my place, and I want to have a discussion with you all. Let’s go.”
“Sure thing.”
“Alright!”
Yulia and Ayla gave lighthearted replies and came over to my side, just like when we left.
Ivern, on the other hand, began gathering up the mess he’d managed to make in this short time.
“Hurry up, or we’re leaving without you.”
“Shut up! Then help me out!”
“I’d love to, but I can’t tell what’s yours and what belongs to this room.”
“Me too. I’m holding Ayla, after all.”
“Auu.”
“Ai.”
Leon and Ayla mimicked me and Yulia, babbling something that sounded like “Auu” and “Ai.”
Seeing us, Ivern slumped his shoulders in resignation and began cleaning up.
He looked exactly like a father forced to do housework on his day off, unfamiliar and pitiable.
From his back, a wave of melancholy seemed to radiate.
“Hurry up!”
“Shut up!!”
Before long, Ivern finished tidying up, and I brought him back home with me.
