Chapter 25: The Villainous Aristocrat Comes Face to Face with His Classmates

I reunited with Eleanor in Class S.

“Hehe. I’m so happy. To be in the same class as Kunou-sama.”

“I’m happy too… Um, you’re really close.”

“Oh, don’t say that!! Kunou-sama and I are special friends, aren’t we!!”

Well, we haven’t seen each other since that audience three years ago, you know!?

I don’t think we’re that close…

“By the way, Kunou-sama, my mother mentioned she was taken care of by you not too long ago.”

“Huh? Ah, well, yes. That’s why we’re close.”

“My mother talks about you all the time, you know. Did something happen between you two?”

“Uh, well, haha. We’re close.”

There’s no way I can tell Eleanor that I bathed with Freya, right?

Well, Wendy and Felsy were there too, so it should be fine, right? Yeah, let’s go with that.

Anyway, why is she so close!!

It’s normal until she sits down next to me, but having our shoulders touch is definitely weird.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Eleanor.”

Suddenly, someone called out Eleanor’s name.

Eleanor turned around to find a handsome, blonde boy standing there, exuding a dignified aura.

A boy, right?

Thanks to Leon, my neighbor in the dorm, I couldn’t discern whether someone was a boy or a girl if they were too good-looking.

Well, it doesn’t really matter.

Thank goodness!! Whoever you are, thank you so much!!

“Tch. We’ve been interrupted.”

Hmm? Did someone just click their tongue? I glanced at my side and there was Eleanor, smiling brightly.

…Maybe it was just my imagination.

“…Oh? You’re from the Duke’s family, if I remember correctly.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, I am Viola Askam. Let’s get along from now on.”

“I’ve received help from your parents.”

Eleanor responded to the boy who introduced himself as Viola with a cheerful smile.

The Askam Ducal family.

If I recall correctly, the head of the family has been serving as the kingdom’s prime minister for generations.

The family was a topic of conversation because the husband was the commander of the Kingdom’s Knights, while the wife served as the prime minister.

“You’re in S class too, I see.”

“Yes. I consider it an honor to study alongside Princess Eleanor.”

“Yes, I’m delighted as well.”

“Well then, I’ll take my leave.”

Viola bowed to Eleanor and was about to leave but gave me a brief, sharp glare.

It was so quick that Eleanor didn’t seem to notice.

We just met, didn’t we? Did I do something?

“By the way, there are so few people in S class.”

Eleanor murmured almost involuntarily.

There really are a few students in S class. There are only five of us, including me.

“Oh, well, being able to get into S class is quite rare even within the academy.”

“I suppose there are students from this class who join the student council… Um, Kunou-sama, are you interested in joining the student council?”

“No, not even a bit. …Um, we’re close.”

Top-ranking students are apparently compelled to join the student council, so if the offer comes, I’ll have to accept.

When asked about my interest, I have no choice but to say I’m not interested.

I’m already a baronet, so I don’t need the knighthood I’d receive upon graduation from the academy in S class.

Somehow, Eleanor looks disappointed.

“Well then—”

“Hey, Kunou Von Dorana.”

Interrupting our conversation was one of the students from S class.

He had bright red hair, stood tall, and his face was covered in numerous scars.

If Viola could be called a nobleman, this guy would perfectly fit the term “savage.”

“Uh, who might you be?”

“I’m Sid Vastor.”

Vastor…

I don’t recognize that name.

Perhaps a noble family that received its title within the last couple of decades, similar to the Dorana Baronetcy.

“I’m Kunou Von Dorana, but just call me Kunou.”

“Uh, yeah, sure. Kunou, I’ve got something to talk to you about.”

“What is it?”

A boy who introduced himself as Sid banged on my desk with a loud noise.

“Tell me, is it true that you defeated Sir Zachtoll in the practical exam of the proficiency test?”

“No, I didn’t win. I tried my best to win, but I couldn’t.”

Sir Zachtoll is Vermeil that I fought in the practical exam. Despite attacking with various magical swords, I lacked the decisive move and couldn’t overpower her.

It’s undoubtedly true that I had the upper hand in the fight, but the fact remains that I couldn’t win.

“Oh? Is that so? I heard a rumor that you defeated the master.”

“What’s that baseless rumor? And wait, ‘master’?”

“Oh, no, it’s nothing. If it’s different from the rumor, then never mind. My apologies for bothering you.”

“Oh, so you were bothering me because of that.”

Having said that, Sid returned to his seat.

“What was that about?”

“I don’t know. It’s close, Lady Eleanor.”

Ever since earlier, there’s been a pleasant scent coming from Eleanor.

I might be of a decent age, but my body is that of a healthy teenage boy in the midst of puberty.

The pleasant scent of a thirteen-year-old beauty is all kinds of awkward.

“Oh? Come to think of it, one of our classmates still hasn’t arrived.”

“That’s right. It’s almost time for class to start…”

Just as I said that, the signal for the beginning of class, a loud bell, resonated throughout the entire school.

Simultaneously, our homeroom teacher entered the classroom.

And the teacher who would be in charge of Class S was someone I recognized once again.

“I am Vermeil von Zachtoll, who will be the homeroom teacher for Class S. Nice to meet you—”

My eyes met Vermeil’s as she stood at the podium.

For some reason, she twitched visibly, her body shaking involuntarily.

I wonder why she flinches every time she meets my gaze. It’s truly mysterious.

“Cough, I’m counting on you all… Hm, we seem to be missing one person.”

It seems Vermeil noticed the absent student from Class S.

At that moment,

With a clatter, a girl with ash-gray hair walked into the classroom.

She tried to take her seat without saying anything.

“Wait, hold on! You’re late!!”

“Mm, overslept.”

While rubbing her sleepy eyes, the girl confidently spoke to Vermeil.

“Don’t you have anything else to say?”

“Hm? Uh, good morning?”

“Oh, good morning. Anything else?”

“…Ah, right, I’m Kotori. Kotori Yamato. I’m an exchange student from a country in the Far East. Nice to meet you.”

Kotori Yamato, a combination of Yamato and Kotori?

I knew there was an island nation at the eastern edge, but I didn’t expect to hear a Japanese-sounding name in this world.

Well, considering it was originally a world from a Japanese game, I guess it’s not entirely implausible?

The girl who introduced herself as Kotori gave a sleepy yet genuinely warm smile and thumbs up.

“Reflect on being late.”

“Mm, sorry. Is this okay?”

“…Yeah. Hurry up and take your seat.”

Looking at it this way, Class S…

A princess, a nobleman, a savage, a troublesome exchange student, and a viscount’s heir.

Quite a mix. A really intense mix, I think. I feel like I’m the only bland one here.

I genuinely felt sorry for Vermeil, who would have to manage this class from now on.
