Chapter 38: Changing Everyday <<Scarlett’s POV>>

One day, less than a month before the day of the sports festival ────, I was walking down the hallway, clutching a sheet of printouts, having a Hannya-like appearance. {TN: Hannya is a mask representing a jealous female demon}

Fortunately, there are few people in the school after school, so I don’t have to show this terrible face.

Taking advantage of this, I wrinkled my brow and bit my lip tightly.

“I didn’t …… hear that Charlotte was going to be representing her class in the magic division! Why, of all places, the magic section?! You’re just trying to get back at me!”

As I clutched the list of contestants from each class, I thought back to my sister’s name written in the column for Class 1C.

I was struck by a gut-wrenching anger and the desperate anxiety,

Suddenly, I remembered the lines that Charlotte had spoken.

“I’ll definitely retaliate if you do anything interfering with my school life, Scarlett-oneesama.”

The flat voice that said this was so terrifying that it sent chills down my spine.

I also remember well the emotionless expression on her face.

“Is this Charlotte’s retaliation …? Or was it just her classmates that asked her to join the magic department?”

“No, I don’t care about that right now. I’ll just have to convince ──── Charlotte to abstain.”

I told myself that and shook off the questions that popped into my head.

I stopped in front of the Class C classroom, having regained some of my composure from earlier.

I opened the sliding door with a rattle and looked inside.

As I expected, there was no one in the classroom after school, and it was deserted.

“If there was no one in the classroom, could she be in the dormitory? Or is it the training grounds? Tournament contestants get authority to use the training grounds, so maybe she’s there, but with Charlotte finding everything such a pain in the ass, she might be resting in the dorms.”

I put my hand on my chin and thought about it, and came to the conclusion that “For now, let’s take a peek at the training grounds through the windows of the school building.”

I left the Class C classroom and headed for the laboratory closest to the training grounds.

As I stepped into the laboratory, lined with various chemicals and laboratory equipment, I rushed to the window.

“That’s His Highness Grayson, the third prince of the Kingdom of Soleil, and Miss Emilia, the daughter of Duke Dursley? If so, the purple-haired girl with her back turned is Charlotte.”

In the training ground covered with green grass, there was a beautiful young man with black hair in a knight’s uniform and a brown-haired woman in a riding suit, behind which Charlotte was playing with a white horse.

The three representatives of Class C seemed to be on good terms with each other and happily conversed with one another.

Suddenly, Charlotte turned around and smiled innocently, looking her age.

“I’ve never seen her look so happy before.”

I only know Charlotte’s normal adult face, so I lower my eyebrows.

Tormented by a strange emptiness, I touched the window glass softly.

Well, whatever the case, I can’t talk to her in that situation. I don’t want other people to know about my secret meetings with Charlotte.

I don’t want to start any strange rumors.

I’ll just have to go and talk to her again when she gets home.

As I was adjusting my own schedule, anticipating Charlotte’s return time, ──── my eyes suddenly met with the beautiful young man with dark hair.

The lapis lazuli-colored eyes, reminiscent of the jewel lapis lazuli, just stared straight at me and didn’t move a muscle.

Perhaps he had noticed my gaze from the start, but he didn’t seem surprised.

Rather, I, who had been sneaking a peek at the training ground, ended up being surprised.

As my eyes widened and I froze, His Highness Grayson lip-synced these words to me.

“You.”

“Get.”

“Lost.”

With a blank expression as cold as ice, he did indeed say, “Get lost.”

Whether he meant to tell me to get out of here or to warn me to stay away from Charlotte, there is no doubt that His Highness Grayson treated me like a distraction.

I’ve heard that he doesn’t care about anyone, but it seems that rumor was false.

I don’t know how Charlotte got His Highness Grayson’s attention, but this might be a little unpleasant.

If you are liked by a prince of a country, even if it’s another country, it’s hard to get your hands on that person

I squeezed my hand tightly, frustrated and frightened by my sister, who was steadily expanding her network without my knowledge.

At that time, the print that was already crumpled bends even further.

I fought down the urge to click my tongue and stared back into his lapis lazuli eyes.

“I’ll be leaving for the day.”

I muttered through the window, though he probably didn’t hear me, and I spun around.

I frowned at the current situation, which was going in a completely different direction than the future I had envisioned.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.

My school life was supposed to be more fun and comfortable!

Everything has changed because Charlotte broke her promise!

If only Charlotte had continued to be my companion, none of this would have happened!

I’m sure it’s my bad for spreading the rumor. But that doesn’t mean…!

You don’t have to ruin my school life!

Why do you keep getting in my way?!

“All I want is to be happy…!”

I muttered in a voice that was almost a scream, and then there was a knock on the door.

“Scarlett, what’s wrong with you? You look frightened…Did you see a ghost?”

A familiar voice rang in my ears, and I hurriedly looked up to see His Highness Leo leaning against the ──── door, looking at me with concern.

He shakes his lustrous blonde hair, and he opens his eyes slowly to send a caring gaze.

Each of the works was beautiful. I just fell in love with it.

Just by looking at His Highness Leo’s face, I forgot everything I didn’t like.

After all … His Highness Leo is my oasis of the heart.

“It’s nothing, Your Highness Leo. I’m sorry to have caused you so much worry.”

My stiff expression naturally relaxed and I smiled serenely.

Although none of the problems had been solved yet, I was still able to smile strangely.

“No, I don’t mind. As long as Scarlett is okay, I’m fine with it. But why don’t we go back to the student council room?”

His Highness Leo, who said “I have been looking for you all this time”, extended his hand with a gentle smile.

I remember the fact that I hurried out of the student council room without saying anything.

I saw Charlotte’s name on the list of contestants, and I got all flustered.

Why didn’t I at least say something before I left?

What am I doing?

I had the urge to punch myself in the face and reach for Leo’s hand, but then I remembered the existence of the crumpled print and stopped moving for a moment.

I stared at the crumpled print and His Highness’ hand alternately and froze.

There is also the option of offering the other hand, but…that would make it impossible for me to escort him.

In the meantime, I hid the soggy print behind my back.

────The beautiful blonde-haired young man let out a giggle.

“It’s okay. I’ll pretend I didn’t see it and I’ve got a spare list of contestants. Don’t worry about it.”

His Highness shrugged his shoulders as if to say it was no problem, and in a natural motion, held out his other hand.

He seems to be easing my mind.

It’s the kind of thing I like about His Highness Leo.

I know that I’m not the only one he shows this kindness to, but he is really a cunning man.

Thinking of my squeaking chest, I put my hand on the outstretched hand.

The body temperature transmitted from my fingertips was so lovely that I couldn’t stand it.

“Let’s go then.”

The blond-haired young man who pulled my hand and walked away seemed to be enjoying himself.

As I walked next to him, I wondered how many more days I would be able to stay next to His Highness.

It was so comfortable to be next to His Highness Leo that I seriously wished time would just stop.

  1. Wow, Scarlett you sure are narcissistic, first you ruin your sisters reputation with false rumours which underminds her future and now you telling me, Charlotte revealing her true capabilities ruins YOUR school life !? Girl check yourself in a mirror before you talk because like how Grayson thought of her just being there, pisses me off greatly.
    Also, thanks for the chapter.

  2. Scarlet is annoying as always, but the author manages to draw a fine line such that she remains just annoying — and doesn’t cross into the territory of irredeemable jerk. I won’t say I feel bad for her, because honestly she is a real piece of work, but I can see her either maturing to become someone better (as she occasionally shows some understanding towards Charlotte, though nowhere near enough) or spiraling into darkness. I hope it’s the former, though, for both of their sakes.
    (Thank you for the translation!)
