Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 27. Was Storage also a cheat?

Alright, I’m claiming the small hut as my new home right away!

I clutch the key that Regal-san had given me, already planning to make my way to the farm shed, when I suddenly remembered—Jude-san.

I feel like there was something I wanted to say or ask him. But what was it again?

Frowning, I furrowed my brows and pondered. I pressed my finger to my chin and let out a deep “Hmm.” It probably had something to do with Luna. I need to remember.

Oh! I wanted to have him smell the carrots.

I wanted him to compare the scent of the farm-grown carrots stored in Storage with the Japanese-grown carrots I brought out myself.

Where would be the best place to do that? Hmm.

Maybe at a store, or at his house, or ask him to come with me to the shed—those are my options.

Since it’s convenient, I’d be glad if he came along with me to the shed.

“If you have time, could you come with me to check out the shed?”

When I straightforwardly asked him, “ah”, I got a smile and a nod of approval.

Alright!

On the way to the farm field (or rather, the tool shed), I talked about Luna being able to eat vegetables and planting cherry tomato seedlings. It turned out Jude-san already heard about it from Martha-san, so the conversation moved quickly.

I asked him to cooperate a bit once we got to the shed, because I wanted to think about the vegetables Luna ate.

Now then, we’ve arrived at the shed.

From the outside, it had a fairly large sliding door and two windows. The roof extends out at both the front and back, and underneath the eaves, there are piles of straw, firewood, and probably thick stakes that I guess were used as supports.

I unlocked the door and went inside. About half the space was filled with farming tools and what looked like junk.

Yeah, Regal-san said I could do whatever I wanted with what’s inside, but sorting out what’s usable and what’s not looks like a hassle.

“Lots of stuff, but it’s pretty spacious,” Jude-san says.

Yeah, the hut’s bigger than I thought, and the land I got is quite large too.

“I agree.”

It feels bigger inside than it looks from the outside.

The space is roughly about 8 tatami mats—The empty space is about the size of a 4.5 tatami mat room. It’s a bit dusty and dirty, but that’s easy to fix with proper cleaning.

This place is definitely livable.

Under the extended eaves of the hut, there’s a washbasin or sink, and nearby, a well. It’s a very old-fashion hand-pump.

It’s the same kind of pump I saw in the vegetable fields when I was a kid. Even back then, it was quite a rare item.

I tried pushing the lever with a “shake-shake” sound, but no water came out, not even rising.

I had no choice but to buy water with thousand yen repeat and pour it in as priming water.

“Let me try,” Judo-san said, taking over.

I placed the bucket that was lying under the pump and checked the situation.

He pressed the pump, and after a while, I heard a gurgling sound as water started to rise. After a few more pushes, water began to come out.

At first, the water was a bit brown, but as he kept pumping, it gradually turned clear.

I cleared some space by stacking the items I found inside into a corner to make the area more open, then used the water from the pump to wipe down everything that could be wiped.

There was a wooden box that must have been used to store harvested vegetables —so I wiped it down quickly, flipped it over, and set it up as a chair and table.

Alright, now I’ll go get the carrots.

I focused my mind on Storage, opened the door that appeared, and went inside to fetch the carrots stored there.

As I came out of the storage, carrots in hand, I was greeted by Jude-san staring at me with his pupils slightly dilated in surprise.

oh, I don’t think I mentioned this (storage ) before, —

Umm, well.

I guess I should start by first explaining what it is.

After giving a rough explanation of Storage, he said,

“That’s an incredible ability.”

I tilted my head.

Then he explained, “You can disappear suddenly from sight and your presence is completely unrecognizable. That means you can hide safely in any situation.”

Although I set up Storage as a place for food, shelter, and living, it is certainly quite useful as a safe zone.

I’d vaguely thought I could just enter it if anything happened, but hearing how practical it is, I realize it’s quite convenient.

While we’re at it, I’d like for him to verify something that I wouldn’t be able to do on my own.

The thing is, Judo-san can’t see the Storage door.

Even when I open the door, he can only sense that I moved my hand—he can’t see inside.

I can see inside through the open door, but Judo can’t see anything.

So, I put my hand inside.

“what does it look?”

“Your arm from the elbow down is gone”

I step inside the Storage.

“Little by little it disappeared and became invisible.”

The door is still open, so if I look back, I can see Jude-san.

“Can you hear my voice?”

I ask him, and—

「ーー」

He opens and closes his mouth repeatedly,

Hmm?

“If you can hear me, raise your hand and say ‘I can hear you,’” I instruct.

He raises his hand and opens his mouth again, but I don’t hear any sound.

So, I guess It means that my voice can be heard from here, but I can’t hear from inside.

I guess it means that the sound of my voice from here goes through, but I can’t hear from the other side.

I step outside to check.

“Wow, you just suddenly appeared out of nowhere,”

That must be pretty creepy.

Before going back inside, I ask him,

“Now, I’m going to count, and I want you to tell me how many numbers you hear.”

He agrees.

I start counting slowly:

“One,”

I said slowly as I entered the storage.

“Two,”

And then I finish with,

“Three,”

Immediately closing the door.

Next, I wait, then say,

“Four,”

“Five,”

“Six.”

I open the door.

Then step outside again,

Now, how was it?

“I didn’t hear 4, 5, or 6.”

So, when I close the door,  sound is completely shut out. When I leave it open, sounds from inside can get through but i can’t hear any sounds from outside.

Since I was curious, I also picked up a small pebble and threw it to test.

When the door was open, Jude-san says the stone I threw from my side appeared to suddenly appear out of thin air inside and landed.

I also asked Jude-san to throw a pebble where he thought I was standing.

From my perspective, the stone seemed to vanish near the door.

According to Jude-san, the stone followed a normal parabolic trajectory and landed on the ground.

Wow! Does this mean that attacks from the inside can pass through, but attacks from the outside won’t?
