Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 13. I Messed Up, So I Immediately Asked for Help

I was happily munching away on the delicious food, immersed in bliss, but the time had come to return to reality.

Like that, the calmness returned to Jude-san’s eyes as he looked at me.

Ah, did I mess up?

I have a bad habit of thinking things through in detail but then giving up midway, and once I think I have a good idea, I can’t stop myself from doing it—I can’t count how many times have I failed because of this?

But normally, I would have been more cautious. It’s Jude-san’s fault for looking like Mash-kun, that’s probably why. I don’t know why, but my wariness melts away. I have a feeling everything will be alright.

“Magical spice. Do you want some?”

Since it’s come to this, I decide to reopen it.

Although hesitant, Jude-san nods, and I place my hand over his skewer, pausing for a moment.

“Is garlic and herbs okay?”

Aren’t cats not supposed to eat green onions or garlic?

Hmm? But the vegetables sandwiched between this meat are onion-like, right? I saw him eating them.

“I’m fine in this form.”

I don’t really understand what’s going on, but it seems like there’s no problem. Well then, I guess it’s ok.

Let’s make Judo-san’s skewer delicious too!

*Click* for 2 yen.

Piping hot water was quite difficult to control, but sprinkling spices evenly over something was very easy.

Maybe this ability is suited for cooking.

Judo-san stares intently at the skewer sprinkled with magical spice, and then carefully brings it to his mouth.

He takes a bite, his eyes widening, then the meat quickly disappears into his mouth with great speed.

Yes, yes, it’s delicious. Wow, this Martha beef is really amazing. Delicious. It’s hard to describe it.

“Delicious.”

Judo wiped his lips with his thumb, looked reluctantly at the skewer that now had no meat on it, then threw it back into the tube before looking my way.

Thank you for the meal.

“By the way, what exactly was that just now?”

I knew I’d be asked. Might as well be honest.

I lowered my voice and put my finger in front of my mouth. I’ll tell you, but keep it a secret.

“A strange skill suddenly appeared to me  allowing me to produce a little of various things, but I don’t really understand it. The thing earlier was a magical powder that makes everything taste better when sprinkled on it. That’s all.”

Honestly, that’s really what it feels like.

I always thought I shouldn’t attract attention, but since this world has magic, maybe anything is possible? Surely, there are magic spells that can produce objects. If it’s something that seems plausible in this world, there’s no problem with producing it. A mixture of salt and spices should be safe.

“A special skill, huh?”

He lowered his voice to match mine. How kind of him.

“I want to try some things out, but I’m too clueless to handle it properly… Do you know any places where I can do tests that’s spacious, out of sight, and where it won’t be a problem if there’s a small explosion?”

I want to rely on his kindness. I really want to test it, but where’s a good place to explode things safely?

“Explode!? Will something actually explode?”

Yeah, probably…

“it might…”

Judo-san looks thoughtful, then after a moment,

“If tomorrow is okay, I can show you around.”

Wow, asking around pays off. I’ve got a collaborator.

We disbanded and agreed to meet in front of the adventurers’ guild tomorrow morning.

I go on walking and browse the market.

I’m looking for something to make my storage space more comfortable —something to put under me when I sleep!

I wonder if they sell anything like a mattress.

As I was thinking that, I notice a shop selling furs.

There are lots of fluffy furs.

A nice piece of fur would probably be expensive, but maybe there are some affordable ones I could buy.

“Excuse me, what’s the price of these furs around here? Also, can I touch them?”

I asked, noticing a basket filled with patchwork mats made from various colored furs .

“It’s rare for someone to ask before touching something. Sure, go ahead. I made those from scraps of horned rabbit pelts myself. The small one is 2,000 gold, and the larger one’s 5,000 gold.”

I can’t stop stroking the soft, fluffy texture.. With this texture, isn’t it a great deal? It must have taken a lot of effort to patchwork it together.

“I’d like two of these small ones, please.”

Two of them side by side should be enough to sleep on.

“Thanks! Here’s a little extra,”

They say, handing me a small leather pouch that can be tied shut. It’s just the perfect size for coins.

I wanted a bag like this!

Feeling pleased with myself for making such a good purchase, I move on. The next thing I wanted to get was a container.

I’ve thought about it—when I bought a hamburger, I just took it without thinking, but I wonder what would happen if I bought a beef bowl? If I bought it as takeout, there would be no problem. But,

How do I get the food I eat in restaurants out?

Maybe I can only say I bought the contents, since after all I return the bowl. I could take the chopsticks if I wanted, so maybe that counts as buying?

I think it’s safer to prepare a container beforehand if I want to test this. Definitely.

If I had realized this sooner, I could have bargained with Grandpa Jill.

While searching for a container, I came across a place with a variety of items lined up, like a flea market.

There are also tableware lined up.

I pick up a wooden bowl. Light and unbreakable, seem good.

A bowl-sized item, something like a cup, and a plate—those seem like the essentials.  Maybe I should get two bowls, it might be better. It was 800 gold for four items.

Anyway, since I got what I wanted, I left the market and headed in a direction where there seemed to be fewer people. I hid in the shadows, took out my storage and went inside.

The laundry is almost dry.

I immediately place the fluffy mat down. It’s a much better bed than cardboard.

My remaining money today is 510 yen.

I’ll use it all up.

Since I want to keep some for tomorrow’s testing, I’ll take out things I might need then. Also, something that could serve as a gift.

For now, let’s put out some bread for breakfast. I’ve bought half-price bread before, so that’s 98 yen halved to 49 yen.

I want to make sandwiches, but I’m worried about what ingredients to use if I want to prepare them now to eat tomorrow. Ah! there’s always a ra◯ lunch pack or ◯sandwich. You can’t go wrong  buying the three kinds: tuna mayo, egg, and peanut!

When I searched, I found that I had bought all three for 98 yen before. That’s 294 yen total.

I’ll prepare some spice packets so I can give them to him. He seemed to like the taste.

What should I put them in? Maybe wrapping them in paper packets is easiest.

I buy three sheets of craft paper for 6 yen, cut them up, and carefully wrap about 2 yen worth of spices into each—about ten packets should be enough.

I’ll buy some raisins to use up the rest—they’re tasty and easy to share with others!
