Chapter 253: Sea Dragon Hunt

“GyAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOO!”

Under the moonlit sky, the tyrant of the sea—the Sea Serpent—roared and lunged at Rest.

With fangs larger and more ferocious than a shark’s, it tried to crush Rest’s body in its jaws.

“This is terrifying… but, I wonder why?”

Rest dodged the attack midair.

Looking down at the Sea Serpent from above, he curled his lips into a wry smirk.

“I’m scared, yet I don’t feel true terror… There’s not even a shred of doubt that I can win, nor any urge to flee.”

It wasn’t a taunt—it was his honest feeling.

Despite facing the massive Sea Serpent, a fearsome magical beast, Rest felt more composed than frightened.

Experience made all the difference. Having battled monsters like the Behemoth Sabnock and the Elder Wyrm, Rest had grown accustomed to life-or-death combat.

He knew the Sea Serpent was strong—formidable, even—but he never once doubted his victory.

“GYAAAAAAA!”

The Sea Serpent snapped its jaws at him and swung its massive tail, trying to crush him.

Rest skillfully evaded with magic and aerial maneuvering.

Perhaps it was enraged from being struck repeatedly in the tail, or maybe, like a cornered rat, it had realized it had no choice but to fight.

With its escape route blocked by the earth walls he had conjured, the monster had no way out.

“Either way, it’s desperate. Evading wild, reckless attacks like these is easy.”

Rest danced through the air, but he wasn’t merely playing around.

Even as he dodged, he was preparing his final move against the monster.

“Looks like it’s ready…”

In his hand, he held a small barrier.

Inside, compressed to the extreme, was an enormous amount of magic.

“Last time, I compressed fire to create an explosion… but this time, I won’t do that.”

If he caused another massive explosion, the damage wouldn’t be limited to the fish farm—the whole village could be affected. Fire was not an option.

“Wind Sphere.”

This time, the magic he had stored and compressed within the barrier was a simple wind-based spell.

While dodging the serpent’s attacks, he had generated dozens of Wind Spheres, amassing enough power inside the barrier.

“Now, I just need to…”

“GYAAAAAA!”

“Oh, how convenient.”

The Sea Serpent opened its massive jaws wide, lunging to bite him.

As Rest flew past, he casually tossed the sealed barrier of compressed wind magic straight into its mouth.

“Alright.”

Confirming that the serpent had swallowed the barrier, Rest rapidly ascended.

Glancing toward the beach, he saw that the villagers had already evacuated.

Once he confirmed that the serpent had fallen into his trap, he had signaled them to flee.

“This is the end… ‘Storm God Susanoo!'”

The moment the barrier dissolved inside the Sea Serpent, the compressed magic was unleashed.

“GYUUUUU!?”

The air, now expanding by tens—no, hundreds—of times, surged upward from within the monster’s stomach.

Like an overinflated balloon, the pressure from inside burst through, tearing the Sea Serpent apart from within.

“Uwah…!”

“GIYYYYYYYYY!?”

With a violent explosion of blood and entrails, the serpent’s massive body split clean in half.

The sudden expulsion of compressed air blasted outward, sending hurricane-like winds sweeping through the area.

Trees and buildings shook under the force of the gusts.

“…It’s over.”

But that was all.

While the Sea Serpent had been utterly obliterated, neither Rest nor the surrounding area had suffered major damage.

His previous experience had helped him fine-tune the magic’s output.

“Gyuu… ii…”

The bisected Sea Serpent lay lifeless in the sea, letting out one final, faint cry before succumbing to death.

It was a surprisingly anticlimactic end.
