Chapter 251: The Monster’s Frustration

Under the glow of several bonfires, a crowd of people danced and laughed.

“It’s a feast!”

“Drink, drink! Have some sake!”

“We’ve got shark sashimi! And the hotpot’s tasting great too!”

That night, yet another feast was held.

The only difference from last time was that the celebration wasn’t taking place at the inn but on the beach.

The entire village had gathered on the fire-lit shore, filling the night with singing, drinking, and merry revelry.

At the center of the feast was the horned shark that Rest had caught. The villagers had butchered it and were enjoying it as sashimi and in hotpot dishes.

“Come on, let’s dance!”

“Sing too! 🎶 If you’re catching fish— 🎶”

“Hey, hey!”

The festivities were even livelier than the previous night.

Villagers sang, danced, drank, and ate, their joy illuminating the night as brightly as the bonfires.

But someone was secretly watching the celebration.

From the darkness of the ocean, a pair of eyes peered out, glaring at the revelers with resentment.

“Gyaaaah…!”

The frustrated screech came from the very monster that had been terrorizing the fishing village.

Its eyes, fixed on the human settlement, held a bitter, frustrated glint.

‘He’ liked humans—not in the way humans liked each other, but because he enjoyed tormenting them. He reveled in their screams of pain.

That was why he attacked the village.

He had kept them in a state of misery, not quite killing them, but never letting them be at peace. Humans were his playthings, and their suffering was his entertainment.

But then, an unusual human had appeared out of nowhere and ruined his fun.

Not only had this human interfered, but he had the audacity to fight back.

He struck with searing lightning, causing ‘him’ pain.

Though the attack wasn’t fatal, it was like being bitten by a rat—annoying and infuriating, even if it wasn’t life-threatening.

What frustrated ‘him’ more than the pain itself was the fact that a fragile human had managed to land a hit.

“Gyaa, gyaa…”

In retaliation, ‘he’ had destroyed something the humans seemed to cherish—their oyster farm.

And yet, instead of despair, they were celebrating.

It was infuriating.

“Gya…”

He wanted to attack the humans, to turn their laughter into screams.

But that human—the one who used lightning—might be there.

As much as he enjoyed tormenting humans, he didn’t like pain himself.

“Gyaaa…!”

So instead of attacking the feast, ‘he’ turned his gaze elsewhere.

Slowly, he swam through the dark waters toward another valuable human facility—the pearl farm.

This time, he would destroy it.

This time, they would suffer.

His grotesque mouth twisted into a wicked grin as he raised his long tail, preparing to strike.

“Alright, we got him!”

A sharp whistling sound cut through the darkness.

A moment later—

Thud.

A dull impact.

And then— pain.

“GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!?”

“Direct hit! Get ready for the second shot!”

Shocked by the unexpected pain, ‘he’ tried to pull his tail back.

But something was wrong—it wouldn’t move properly.

Looking closely, he realized a thick, black rope extended from the land, binding his tail.

Then—another stab of agony.

“GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”

“I knew you’d show up… Predicting the moves of someone with a nasty personality is easy.”

“GYAH!?”

An orange light flickered.

As the flames illuminated the darkness, a silhouette emerged.

A young man stood there.

‘He’ couldn’t distinguish between humans, but instinctively, he knew—

This was the human who had struck him with lightning.

“GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”

“Third shot.”

As ‘he’ howled in pain and rage, the young man—Rest Clover—fired another metal harpoon straight at him.
