Chapter 166: Urla lavender is in agony

Time barely rewound, as Rest and the others finished their day and went to sleep.

In one of the pioneering group’s tents, a girl was crouched down on the ground.

“Hah… Hah… Hah…”

The girl exhaled roughly, gripping the carpet spread on the ground.

No one else was in the tent with her. In the tent, which was the same size as where Rest and the others were staying, the girl trembled alone, her small body shaking.

“…I can’t… stand it…”

She gasped, murmuring as she writhed. Blood trickled from her doll-like, refined face, staining the carpet a dark red. Despite her pained breaths, the expression on her face was one of ecstasy.

“…Rest… Clover… the real… Rest…!”

Ad

The girl in agony, bleeding from her nose, was Urla Lavender. She was the daughter of the Lavender frontier lord family, a powerful house in the Eastern borders.

After greeting Rest, Urla returned to the tent assigned to her. However, as soon as she entered, having sent her subordinates away, she collapsed and began to suffer.

“The real… moving… Rest Clover… has come to the same place…!”

The reason for Urla’s torment was, if expressed in modern Japanese terms, due to “overindulgence in her favorite.” Urla had harbored strong feelings for Rest even before she met him. That feeling, which transcended mere infatuation, was akin to “oshi”—a mix of romantic feelings, admiration, and worship, with a dash of madness.

Urla was sent to this place by the order of her grandfather, with the purpose of rallying support against the neighboring Gaizel Empire by raising concerns about its dangers to the central powers. However, that main objective had already faded from Urla’s mind. Her personal goal for coming to this place was simply to meet Rest.

“He was… a thousand times more beautiful than I imagined…!”

Although Urla had eagerly come to meet Rest, he was far more wonderful in person than she had seen through the crystal ball. Urla’s eyes, placed on the carpet, shimmered in rainbow hues. These eyes, called “Fairy Eyes,” were inherited from her mother, who was a fortune teller, granting her the ability to perceive things beyond this world.

What she saw through her Fairy Eyes was something that blew away all her previous views on life.

A fountain of magic power endlessly bubbling up.

Branches and leaves of possibilities spreading wide enough to cover the heavens.

The scenery was so overwhelmingly grand and majestic that it could not be expressed in words.

To liken it to something… it was as if she were looking down at the Grand Canyon from above, gazing up at Niagara Falls from below, surrounded by giant Jomon cedars, or witnessing the sunrise from the peak of the Alps… it felt like witnessing the creation of the world and the birth of stars.

It was a scenery with overwhelming power that could overturn her values and worldview from the very foundation.

“Ahh…”

Having seen such a miraculous sight firsthand, Urla rolled around on the carpet. If she hadn’t strictly ordered everyone to stay out, her subordinates would have likely rushed in upon hearing something was amiss.

“Rest… Rest… Rest… Rest…!”

Urla repeated the name of one man like a broken toy. Since childhood, Urla had received a gifted education only to help in the fight against the Gaizel Empire, the arch-enemy of the Lavender frontier lord family. She had been raised to suppress her emotions, stifle her own will, and act like a puppet that followed her grandfather’s orders.

However, by learning about Rest, an extraordinary being, Urla’s sense of self began to awaken as if life had been breathed into her.

What changes will this newly self-aware doll-like girl, Urla Lavender, bring to Rest?

That is something no one knows yet.
