Chapter 348: A Boy Steps into Hell

Not only Tauro, but also Ragune and Ankh had to ponder about Zion’s request to join the group.

“The “Light Mage Monk”? As I recall, it was a special all-purpose position that could do support magic from the rear and could also do melee attacks while fighting. I had a guy like that when I was a mercenary a long time ago, and I remember being impressed with his ability to restore his own strength and magic, which was a useful skill, but ……”

Ankh remembered his time as a mercenary and told me that it was a valuable skill.

“The ‘Light Mage Monk’ is a handyman who can attack and defend at the same time! Its weakness lies in its defense, but I think its agility and strength more than make up for it!”

Ragune also assured me that his skills were impeccable.

The rest was up to Zion himself.

He had been accompanying the “gray vulture” as a baggage handler, so he seemed to have been able to avoid danger and had honed his skills as a baggage handler, but he had no combat experience or understanding of the abilities associated with his skills.

The question was whether he would be able to follow Tauro and his team on their quest as a brand new person.

Perhaps sensing this, Zion continued with his own appeal.

I was able to follow the “Gray Vultures” on quests as a baggage handler, so I won’t just drag my feet! I will do my own thing!  I’ll also carry your stuff! …… Also, the people in the dragon tribe village who took me there taught me some abilities and magic that I can use right away, so I can use them to heal a few injuries and temporarily improve my status!”

“””eh?”””

Tauro and the others were honestly surprised by Zion’s statement.

This was because he had only stayed in the village of the Dragon People for one day.

There was no way he could’ve learned magic and unique abilities in that short time.

“Can you really do that?”

It was funny for Tauro to ask this, since he was far removed from normal people, but if what Zion said was true, then it meant that he had considerable talent as well.

“Yes! The person who appraised me said that my previous experiences had brought me close to the conditions that would allow me to use my abilities, I just lived my life without realizing it. They taught me a lot of things that, with practice, I’ll be able to use right away, normally.”

To Zion, Tauro was a hero himself, a savior and a god to be tended to.

Therefore, he desperately appealed to Tauro about his usefulness.

“──I’d be happy to have you as one of us, Zion-kun, but I have a little proposition.”

Perhaps seeing a reflection of his past self in Zion’s desperation, Tauro wanted to agree to his wish.

“If it’s okay with the leader, it’s okay with me, too, but what’s the proposal?”

Ankh agreed with Tauro and was interested in the pproposal

“Right now, our top priority is to subjugate the Flame Crabs in the Salt Lake, so in the meantime, I would like you go to the dragon People’s village once again and gain some combat experience in the shallow layers of the dungeon.”

“I see. That’s the perfect place to get just the right experience for your abilities!”

Ragune immediately agreed with Tauro’s proposal.

“it’s a good idea. There are a lot of talented people over there who are knowledgeable about skills, so it’s a good place to get some experience.”

 Ankh agreed.

“Zion-kun. I would like you to train in the village until you are ready to defeat the flaming crabs, is that okay? After that, if you still have not changed your mind, you are welcome to join our team.

Tauro made a proposal to Zion with a prerequisite.

“Really? I’ll do my best! Please give me those conditions!”

Zion thanked him with a big smile, but tears were also flowing from relief.

“Thank you so much!……I’ve been anxious ever since my mother passed away. After being deceived by the sweet words of Hagen and his friends, I almost couldn’t trust people anymore. …… But when Tauro-san broke the enslavement spell, I felt like there was hope for my life. ……I will help you so that you can not abandon me!”*

Zion answers with a strong smile even though he has tears in his eyes, and Tauro, Ragune, and Ankh hope that the “Black Golden Wings” will become a cherished place for him.

“I See …….So we just let him gain combat experience until Tauro-dono comes to pick them up? Leave it to me. Our people are used to that sort of thing.”

Tauro explained directly to the Dragon People Chief, Chief Ryuga, who replied with a wry smile.

When Tauro saw that smile, he felt a rush of guilt toward Zion.

Thinking about it, the people of the dragon tribe, had a habit of saying, “Damn it, kill me!” because of their training!

Tauro imagined Zion’s future in his mind and made an expression typical of Kazuo Umezu’s works, but he wwas the one that came up with the idea.

“Please take it easy on him…”

Tauro felt a little sorry for Zion’s future.

“My name is Zion! Please train me hard without mercy! I’m confident that I’ve lived patiently all my life, so I can handle most things! Besides, I want to be useful to Tauro-sama, so I need to get stronger!”

Zion strongly requested to Chief Ryuga.

Kyaa! Zion-kun! Don’t raise the hurdle any further!

Although Tauro maintains a calm appearance on the outside, he imagines the hell that will come to Zion, and in his heart he does everything in his power to stop it.

“Hoho… Looks like you have some guts. If that’s the case, let’s make a schedule for you to become stronger in a short period of time!”

Chief Ryuga must have thought he could help Tauro, because he promised to train him to the best of his ability.

Seeing this exchange between Chief Ryuga and Zion, Ragune, perhaps remembering her past training, turned pale and said in a small voice, “Damn,  kill me……!”

Tauro heard it clearly and could easily imagine the hell that was about to befall Zion.
