Chapter 420: Bathing Together
While Nero and I were busily gathering herbs, Fabienne and Carol must have taken pity on us and decided to help. Carol seemed to be enjoying her first experience collecting medicinal herbs. But you know, Carol, this situation isn’t exactly normal.
I plucked the overgrown leaves of the medicinal herbs one by one from the top. Ordinary herbs growing in the forest wouldn’t behave like this. Normally, if you pull them out from the root, that’s the end of it. I’ll have to make sure to teach this properly later.
Once we finished gathering the medicinal herbs, the next task was to collect antidote grass. Fabienne looked delighted. She really seemed to enjoy making magic potions. I was relieved—it didn’t feel like I was forcing her into it. Carol, too, seemed interested as she stared intently at the herbs she had picked.
“Hey, Julius, don’t you think if we sprinkled the plant nutrients we used in the herb garden onto the flower bed, a ton of flowers would bloom?”

“On second thought, I’ll pass.”
When I smiled, Carol’s expression stiffened slightly before she quickly backpedaled. That was wise. If we woke up tomorrow to find the garden turned into a jungle, that wouldn’t be funny.
I planted additional mana grass seedlings through division. This should be fine for now. The rest depends on how skilled Leon is when he returns soon to the Marquis Mulan’s household. If we ever run out, we’ll just have to expand the herb garden.
Once we get back to the mansion, I need to make storage containers first. There’s no way we can use up this amount of materials in a single day. In hindsight, I should have asked for magic ink and magic stones in advance.
As soon as I reached the alchemy room, I ordered the necessary supplies. Until the tools arrived, I decided to focus on making magic potions. Carol seemed eager to continue exploring the garden, so I left Mira with her. They were both very happy about it. Maybe to Mira, Carol felt like a mother figure.
After making a decent amount of magic potions, I resumed making swimsuits. Fabienne would finish the remaining ones. At this pace, the swimsuits should be done by midday. Since they needed to be tried on, it was best to finish them early.
At lunchtime, everyone gathered. Those who had gone to the knight’s order had spent the entire morning training rigorously. They looked a little exhausted. Without a magical shower device, they probably couldn’t wash off their sweat properly and seemed a bit uncomfortable. I should hurry and make one for them.
“Julius dear, we finally received a response from the magic tool workshop. They said we can come anytime.”
“Thank you, Marchioness Mulan. Then, I’ll head there tomorrow morning.”
“Waiting until tomorrow, huh? I’m starting to miss that shower magic tool.”
Axel’s remark made everyone laugh. Speaking of which, I had something good for Axel. I told everyone that the swimsuits were finished. Axel took the bait instantly.
“If we have swimsuits, we can go for a dip!”

It seemed Isidore also missed it. Well, he did use one at home. I was glad they recognized the magic tool’s usefulness.
Carol clapped her hands and leaned forward.
“Then, how about we all change into swimsuits and take a dip? There’s a perfect spot in the garden.”

Mira raised a paw. It seemed she and Carol had played there before. Since her fur was a little dirty, they must have been running around. If there was a spacious grassy area, that would be ideal. We couldn’t flood the training ground.

The Marchioness looked at me. I glanced around at everyone—no one shook their head. That meant there was no issue. For some reason, I was being treated like the boss. Was that good or bad? Carol, the daughter of the house, should be the one taking the lead, but I supposed it was difficult for someone as timid as her.
“Of course. Sprinkling water around should make it feel a little cooler.”
“It has been getting hot lately. If the swimsuits turn out to be good, maybe I should have one made for myself too?”
I involuntarily glanced at the Marchioness’s chest. …Yeah, she was quite modestly endowed. I see, so Carol and Lady Hilda must have taken after her. Unsure how to respond, I just gave a vague smile.
We changed into swimsuits and followed Mira’s lead to the grassy area. I hadn’t realized the Mulan estate had such a spot. It was perfect for a water bath. The drainage also seemed good. As I applied sunscreen to Fabienne’s skin to prevent sunburn, Axel and the others arrived, with Carol leading them.
“How does the swimsuit feel?”
“It’s a new sensation. I didn’t know swimsuits were so stretchy.”

Carol’s swimsuit was the same school-swimsuit style as Fabienne’s. Even so, she seemed embarrassed. Well, I supposed it made sense since her thighs were exposed. But a swimsuit that covered the entire body wouldn’t be very practical.

“If you insist.”
I forced the hesitant Nero into the water. Of course, I joined in too. After Fabienne finished applying sunscreen, she and Carol joined us.
“This is incredible! I’ve never experienced anything like this!”
“Kyuu!”
“Julius, your magic skills are really impressive.”
Carol and Mira were jumping around with joy. Nobles typically wouldn’t bathe like this in their gardens, so it must have been a fresh experience for them. Fabienne also seemed to be enjoying it.
“Oh my, you all look like you’re having so much fun.”
The Marchioness had arrived. Looking closely, the Marquis of Mulan had also come. They were probably curious about our commotion—or maybe just feeling the heat.
