Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 329: Operation Sympathy
“What are you doing so early in the morning? Feeling lovey-dovey?”
“Cain-niisan! Please, don’t tease me. Could you lend a hand?”
I called out to Cain-niisan and Sister-in-law Mika, who had come over to see what was going on. Together, we managed to get Fabienne to the salon.
“Oh my, what happened? What’s going on?”
“Oh my, Fabienne is all red! Quickly! Bring something to cool her down!”
Alex-niisan and Sister-in-law Daniela, who happened to be in the salon, noticed us. This is definitely going to reach Father and Mother soon. It would be best to explain myself right away.
“Well, um, it sort of came up that… I’d like to snuggle with Fabienne…”
“I see.”
“So, Fabienne is still untainted.”
“Sister-in-law Mika, I think that phrasing is a bit much.”
Hearing this, Sister-in-law Daniela’s face turned bright red. It seems she had some suspicions, just like Sister-in-law Mika. Or rather, even though she said it herself, Sister-in-law Mika’s face is also red.
“Well, well, let’s leave it at that… I need to work hard on guard duty today too.”
“Y-Yes, let’s do our best!”
Cain-niisan jumped in to smooth things over. I get it; of course, he finds his wife adorable. I feel the same way.
Today, I think I’ll focus on making magic tools. The craftsmen have finally gotten the hang of making magic tools, so I’d like to build up some stock around now.
The artisans are, of course, capable of creating magic tools, not just small items, but it seems that the tools I create are unique or complex, making it difficult for them to master the techniques. Come to think of it, I’ve never really disassembled ordinary magic tools. I’ve always made them using knowledge in my head.
Maybe it would be good to gather some magic tools from the market and take them apart. I might also need to teach Rosalia a bit—common sense is important.
Once Fabienne was back to normal, I headed to the trading company with Alex-niisan and the others. The workshop is located inside this trading company, and the artisans commute there to work.
“How’s the magic tool production going?”
“It’s going well. No major issues. Everyone seems to be enjoying making them.”
Alex-niisan asked about it in the carriage, seemingly curious about the breakfast conversation.
Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything? But if I let it go and it’s too late later, that’d be worse. I’m a member of the Heine Frontier Count family, after all. I want to do whatever I can.
“That’s good to hear. Make sure to remind them not to work too late, and tell them firmly from you as well, Julius.”
“Understood.”
When we arrived at the workshop, work had already started. It seemed a bit early, though—should I mention it? Just as I thought that, Alex-niisan gathered everyone together.
“Everyone, you’ve been working well every day. Thanks to your efforts, the trading company is off to a smooth start. Come spring, things will likely get even busier.”
A small cheer rose up. They were probably happy to hear that the things they were making were selling well. They weren’t informed of the exact sales numbers—profits are, of course, kept confidential.
“I’m glad to see this level of dedication, but I’m also a bit concerned that some of you might be working too hard. Even though Julius can make recovery potions, overdoing it isn’t good for anyone.”
With that, Alex-niisan looked around at everyone. Some gave a sheepish smile, as if they knew they’d been pushing themselves. Mostly, it was the foremen—typical of dedicated craftsmen.
“If any of you think this might apply to you, please be mindful. If you collapse, you won’t be able to face your families.”
Alex-niisan smiled, but it was a subtle warning: “If you collapse, I’ll be visiting you.”
What a way to keep them in line. A noble visiting a commoner’s home would likely make their family uneasy.
Ah, a few employees’ faces were stiffening. Hopefully, this will help keep them in check?
After that, the meeting ended, and everyone returned to their stations. Naturally, we headed to the workshop.
“Julius-sama, about what was just said…”
“Oh, he meant that if anyone falls ill or gets injured, we’ll visit them. I’ll even bring some recovery potions along.”
I smiled just like Alex-niisan did. The look on the foreman’s face seemed to say, “Oh my gosh!”
The dedication of the foremen might be influencing the other craftsmen to push themselves too hard. I’ll need to address it with the leaders first.
The foreman, his face stiff, returned to his work.
“It’s a bit pitiful, isn’t it?”
Fabienne murmured quietly, perhaps understanding the feeling. She’s always full of energy when making potions, so she might know how it feels to overdo it. I wonder if she once stayed up too late working on a potion for lung disease and got scolded by her father.
“Well, true, but it’s better than pushing yourself to the point of breaking. Maybe we should consider hiring more craftsmen.”
“It might be wise to start preparing for that.”
As I supervised, I freely shared techniques, teaching the younger craftsmen how to make magical tools. With written work procedures, they seemed to be picking it up well. We had thought about consulting the Magic Tool Guild, but decided to try handling it within the company first.
It looks like things might work out. I’m glad we made those work manuals—it was worth the effort Rosalia, the foremen, and I put into them.
