Chapter 93: Conclusion
Time turns back a little.
“Kenya, stay airborne as high above Valhalla Castle as you can. I’ll give you the signal. When I do, descend straight into the throne room… and defeat my brother.”
“Understood. It’ll be fine.”
“…Yeah.”
Lord’s plan was simple.
Lure Odin out—and have Kenya defeat him.
But drawing out the cautious Odin would be no easy task.
“My brother only shows himself when he’s completely certain of victory. He always fights from a safe position. That’s why I’ll send all my forces to the front. And this time, I mean it.”
“If you do that—”
“Yes, I’ll have no forces left to protect me. My brother knows the full strength of Asgard. This part, I can’t deceive him on.”
“I’ll make it look like I sacrificed myself to lure him out. Let him think I was at central command. He’ll probably bombard it from his floating warship—without even giving me a chance to run.”
“But you won’t be there.”
“No. I’ll be waiting at Valhalla Castle, using a little trickery. When it seems I’m dead and the central command has been destroyed, my brother will undoubtedly take command from this castle.”
“And then I…”
“Yes. You’ll strike.”
And now—
“Check, Brother. Can you flip the board this time?”
Odin looked upon the knight—and despaired.
So did Lielbelt and the rest of the soldiers.
Guns were meaningless against a KOG—let alone one as powerful as this.
This was the white knight who had defeated Osiris, the strongest in the world.
The Sword God, Sword Sylphid. Everyone had witnessed that battle.
There was no way any of them could win—not even close.
Odin backed away, trying to flee through the door.
But Kenya would not allow it.
He hurled one of his swords at the door, blocking the only exit from the hall.
With that, Odin was cornered. There was nowhere left to run.
“You can’t escape, Brother. It’s over.”
“Why… Why?!”
Odin screamed, still unable to accept reality.
“Please surrender, Brother. If you do, your life will be spared. Though you’ll spend it in prison.”
“Loooooord!!”
Odin glared at Lord with such intensity it looked like his eyes might bleed.
But Lord met his gaze with cold, emotionless eyes.
“Damn it… Damn it!! Why can’t I beat you?! I’m the older brother! Why can’t I win against my younger brother?! WHY?!”
Odin poured out all his pent-up emotions.
Jealousy—his heart had always been consumed by jealousy toward Lord.
He remembered the chess he taught him as a child.
At first, he was happy.
Excited even, to have a younger brother.
So, he taught him the game he loved most—chess.
To play together, to teach him, to show his pride as an older brother.
But within just a few days, Lord had surpassed everything Odin had spent years building—almost as if mocking it.
That was the first time Odin had tasted defeat. And he realized—they were not the same kind.
Even their father was more interested in Lord. The soldiers admired Lord’s charisma and believed he was the one who should be emperor.
It filled Odin with bitterness.
“I’m the one who should rule the world! And yet—why does everyone follow you?!”
From that twisted emotion in childhood, the being known as Odin Asgard had been born.
And then, he pulled out a gun.
He aimed it at Lord, his hands trembling.
“If… If only you hadn’t existed!! If only you hadn’t appeared!! I—I am the one!! Dieeeee!!”
A gunshot rang out toward Lord.
But Kenya deflected the bullet with godlike speed.
Through the reflection in Kenya’s blade, Lord’s face looked… just a little sad.
“Don’t look at me like that! Why do you always look at me that way?! Don’t pity me! I’m Odin—the First Prince!! Damn it, damn it all!!!”
Odin wept, shouting in frustration.
He fired again and again at Lord.
But breaking through Kenya was impossible for Odin.
“Hah… hah… why…”
He finally collapsed to his knees.
“Kenya… sorry, but—”
“Yeah. I know.”
Kenya raised his sword.
Odin suddenly started laughing.
“Heh… haha. No. I won’t lose. I won’t lose to you.”
Then he placed the gun to his own forehead.
“This way, the game never happened. I didn’t lose. I NEVER lost to you!”
Lord watched Odin’s madness quietly.
There was no saving him anymore.
And then—
Bang!
A dry crack rang out. The bullet pierced Odin’s brain.
Blood spread across the floor as he collapsed with a dull thud.
Lord looked upon the scene and murmured softly:
“You… had so many people who would have followed you too… Brother.”
Soldiers began to drop their weapons, one after another, and raise their hands.
The death of their lord—
It was more than enough reason to surrender.
“Odin-sama… I shall… follow you as well.”
Another person sank to their knees—a boy with glasses.
Lielbelt. He picked up the gun that Odin had dropped.
He glared at Lord. At Kenya.
And then, just like Odin, he took his own life.
“Lielbelt…”
Kenya watched it all unfold from within Takemikazuchi.
That final expression was so unlike the face he had come to know.
◇
“Sword-kun! If you ever have any trouble, just come to me! I’m your senior, after all!”
“Got it. I’ll be counting on you.”
“Haha, even though I’m your senior, I can’t even hold a candle to you.”
“No, I’ve never had a senior before… It kind of feels like… an older brother?”
“Haha, well, I am older at least.”
“That’s true!”
“That’s true?!”
“Goodbye, Lielbelt. Even if it was all an act… I liked you. You felt like the brother I never had.”
Kenya knew Lielbelt had betrayed them.
No—not even betrayal. He was their enemy from the start.
And yet, the half-year they had spent together had made Kenya feel that Lielbelt was nothing less than a kind and reliable senior. Like a brother.
In the ancient castle now echoing with the dry sound of gunfire, Odin had died.
And Lielbelt had followed him in death.
Now, Lord stood as the ruler of the world.
But calling it a victory left only a bitter aftertaste.
Kenya understood—this is what victory looks like. This is what it means to kill.
Still, the memories carved into his heart made the tears come.
“Kenya… thank you for everything.”
“I didn’t… I didn’t do anything.”
“…No, that’s not true. Today is the last time.”
“Huh?”
Kenya couldn’t grasp what Lord meant.
But Lord offered no further explanation.
His voice echoed through the silent throne room:
“Soldiers of Asgard who served Odin—this matter shall not be pursued! Drop your weapons!”
That single declaration crushed the morale of every remaining soldier in Odin’s camp.
After all, they had only obeyed Odin’s orders because he was royalty.
One by one, Odin’s troops began surrendering.
Lord then opened communications with the Asgardian forces still holding the front line—
—and even to Odin’s forces fighting alongside the World Federation.
“Odin is dead. To all Asgardian forces: return home. Even those aligned with the World Federation. I will not pursue this matter further.”
That message was transmitted across all battlefields where Asgardian soldiers were frozen in place.
Even to their allies.
“Odin-sama… He did it, Lord! Hey! All of you, we’re going home! The war is over! Go help those idiots—we’re allies now!”
“Yes, Orgue-sama!”
“Lord… I don’t know how you did it, but as expected. You there! Tell Odin’s men with the World Federation too! We don’t need to fight anymore!”
“Yes, Lamia-sama!”
The message reached all Asgardian soldiers—friend and foe alike.
The battlefield descended into chaos. Soldiers who were fighting for Odin moments ago began defecting to the enemy’s side.
And the rest of the Asgardian forces welcomed them without resistance.
There was no longer any difference in strength.
Witnessing it all, Byakuren asked:
“Father! What in the world is happening?!”
“I don’t know! As soon as Odin said he would abandon the alliance, everything fell apart! They say he’s dead… but what really happened… we don’t know.”
Genbu and Camille—everyone in the World Federation—were thrown into confusion.
“Byakuren! We can’t even keep fighting like this! We don’t know who’s friend or foe anymore! There’s no formation left!”
“…Tch. Understood. All forces, withdraw! The World Federation army is to retreat at once!”
And so the World Federation pulled back.
That signaled the end of fighting on every battlefield.
Everyone returned to their homelands.
The Asgardians to Asgard.
The World Federation forces to their central base, Chubu HQ.
The world war ended on this day—
With Odin’s death.
