Chapter 45: The Broken Former Strongest Student

“Huh?”

Everyone watching the battle was left speechless, their mouths slightly open, unable to form words.

Only Reina stood proudly, as if to say, Of course!

“That was luck, right? Just a fluke!?”
“If I fought Jin a thousand times, even I could…”
“Are you serious? No way. No matter how many times we try, we’d never win.”

The trio of flashy guys desperately tried to find some excuse.
But knowing who Jin was, their brains rejected the idea that luck had anything to do with it.

“What in the…?! Sieg! What the hell is up with your son!?”

Colonel Star, now completely sober, stood up in excitement.
Though retired, he was once a Holy Knight.

He had the skills to back it up, and after years of spectating, he had a trained eye.

Even to him, this result was beyond belief.

“This is… Ha! Hahaha! Unbelievable! Jin—that Jin—was completely outclassed and lost!”

“Naturally. My brother is the strongest in the world.”

“Amazing… Sword-kun is far beyond the level of a student. No, to be fair, so is Jin, but… His limits are unfathomable! Even though the Holy Knight Commander hasn’t been through real war… This is…”

Star, overwhelmed with excitement, began speaking faster.

Even the honor student Rielbelt and the duke’s son Zoid were still standing there, mouths agape.

Then, Kenya stepped down from the simulator.

Jin still hadn’t stood up.

“…Impossible… I’m the Holy Knight Commander… This… This can’t be… Hahaha…”

Muttering to himself in the simulator seat, Jin suddenly started laughing like he had snapped.

Then, everyone—including Colonel Star—rushed over to Kenya.

“Sword! What the hell was that?! Explain! Where does that strength come from?!”

They all demanded an explanation.

Kenya started giving the excuse he had come up with in advance with Sieg.

“I trained ridiculously hard with my dad from a young age! Like, to the point where I almost died!”

“Ohh! Now that makes sense. Sieg was one of the strongest, though I’m sure his skills have dulled. So you received elite training, huh?”

“No fair!! I wish my dad was the Holy Knight Commander!!”
“My dad’s just a commoner…”

Hearing Kenya’s explanation, they all nodded in understanding.

If he had received elite training from a Holy Knight Commander parent, then it wasn’t strange for him to have strength beyond their comprehension.

Kenya was showered with praise.

Then—

Someone grabbed his shoulder from behind.

“…It’s a good thing you’re Sword-kun.”

“…Jin-san?”

“Haa… Haa… One more time. Let’s do it again. Just a little. Just a little more… Haa… Haa…”

Jin was panting heavily.

At first, Kenya thought it was from exhaustion.
But something was off.

His face was flushed, and he looked… incredibly excited.

“It was amazing. You were amazing. I’ve never been beaten like that before… More. Do it more. Beat me up more. Haa… Haa…”

“…Huh?”

Jin, broken by Kenya’s overwhelming strength.

No—maybe this was his true nature all along.

Having never lost to anyone in his generation, Jin had been thoroughly defeated by Kenya—and it awakened something in him.

“This feeling of defeat I had long forgotten! I-It’s exhilarating! I can become even stronger!!”

—As a full-blown masochist.

“…Jin-san, you’re kind of creeping me out.”

Jin clung to Kenya, touching him excessively.

He was a KOG junkie—he lived for KOG, and would die for KOG.

And now, the one who had effortlessly surpassed him—Kenya—became his object of worship.

“So Jin was that kind of guy…”
“I thought he was the cool and composed type, but he’s actually some high-energy pervert?”

Everyone took a step back at Jin’s complete mental breakdown.

“Oh! Then, brother, I’d like to fight you again too. It’s been a while.”

“Uh, in that case… Can I go next?”

Reina and the flashy guys eagerly asked Kenya for a match.

Jin was persistent, and Kenya himself didn’t want to lose the sharp focus he had right now—so it was a perfect opportunity.

And so, the mock battles against Kenya began.

“This is insane!! I can’t even land a hit! I die instantly!!”
“Damn… He’s even stronger now… The gap between us has widened again.”
“Haa… Haa… Sword-sama, your technique is simply divine… Haaahhn!!”

Each time Kenya beat Jin to a pulp, Jin became more and more unhinged.

By the end, he had even started calling him Sword-sama, which made Kenya feel a little uncomfortable.
Still, he continued sparring with everyone.

He won every single match.

Right now, Kenya had no equals.

They kept fighting for hours, even ordering lunch for delivery, and continued their matches in the simulator room until evening.

“Haha! That was truly spectacular! A real feast for the eyes! Sieg, you’ve got a fine son!”

Colonel Star downed his drink with satisfaction.
Kenya’s battles had completely satisfied his desire for an exhilarating match to watch.

“Whew… My apologies. I lost my composure, Sword-sama. No—excuse me, Sword! This was an incredibly valuable experience. Thank you. I look forward to more in the future.”

Jin, trying to act composed, extended his hand for a handshake.

“No worries. I learned a lot too.”

Kenya smiled warmly and shook Jin’s hand—playing the part of a mature and composed fighter.

(You were just moaning ‘haaahhn!!’ a moment ago. No way you can play it cool now.)

Internally, though, Kenya was feeling a bit creeped out.

Jin had completely broken down earlier, but with his sheer mental fortitude, he managed to pull himself back together.

Still, his humiliating display was permanently burned into Kenya’s memory.
In his mind, Jin was now forever labeled a weirdo.

“Well then, Sword. Now that we’ve seen Reina’s skills too, let’s call it a day. There’s an emergency royal broadcast coming up.”

Colonel Star announced the end of the session.

Apparently, there was going to be a kingdom-wide emergency broadcast across Asgard, and attendance was mandatory.

Everyone started packing up.

And then—

“Ah, so you were here. I see the matches have already ended. What a shame—I would’ve liked to watch.”

The moment they heard that voice, everyone immediately fell to their knees.

They paid their utmost respects to the person who had just entered.

“Well, it looks like you successfully enrolled. My knight—Sword Sylphid.”

—Except for the one boy who had sworn loyalty to no one.
