Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 121: Rematch

The Hunter waited at the designated location given by a woman named Adelaide, sensing the slow approach of powerful magic wielders.

Just when they were almost there.

A tremendous magic force emanated from the rock bed below. It was a magnitude of magic felt only a few times in hundreds of years.

Then came the deafening roar and explosion.

Recognizing the abnormality, he leaped into the magic circle.

The scene he teleported into was bizarre, to say the least.

The rocky bed of the tower, spread with magma, was severely damaged and riddled with holes.

It looked like a battlefield.

More alarming was the large hole in the tower wall, allowing air to leak out.

He had never heard of the tower wall being breached.

Against the wall, the people of Pandorania huddled in fear.

And at the center stood a young man, almost still a boy.

Intuition struck.

“Are you the reincarnated person?”

“Now that you mention it, it has been a while. And who is this ‘Hunter’ anyway?”

The reincarnated person showed no signs of panic, standing with the poise of a seasoned warrior, as if he had faced death many times.

“You know me?”

“I know of you. Might as well ask, will you step aside? I’m in a bit of a hurry—”

As the reincarnated person began to speak, the magic circle on the opposite side glowed.

The Royal Knights and Dion appeared.

“Lucius. We’ve caught up.”

—That brat from before.

His name was Dion, if memory serves. Always an omnipresent power player.

He confused his authority with his abilities, believing without any basis that he was supreme.

Yet, even such a person was far better than the reincarnated person.

—The tiny light Lucius… a name unbefitting a reincarnated person.

The reincarnator turned towards the knights emerging from the other side.

“Bad timing. Or maybe, good?”

Exposing his back nonchalantly.

—An opening.

Charging his right arm with magic, the hunter conjured a black scythe. He dashed forward at full speed, slashing from behind.

But the blade never reached its target.

Dragon flames erupted from both sides of the Hunter.

“What!?”

He jumped back, avoiding the flames.

The Hunter retreated, gaining distance.

—This isn’t what I heard.

He was said to have only recently learned the basics of rituals.

And yet.

“…Highly skilled, it seems.”

“I’ve been using them a lot.”

The eerie reincarnator smiled.

His face was smiling, but his eyes were vacant. They were the eyes of someone familiar with despair, yet who hadn’t given up entirely.

But this was no cause for alarm.

Reincarnated people were inherently irregular beings.

And they all brought calamity, as if it were their right.

In his long life, the Hunter had encountered four reincarnators.

All of them without exception were like that. He had personally buried three of them; the fourth was beyond his reach.

—This one ends here.

A white lion emerged from the Hunter’s shoulder, speaking, “Shall I help?” It was his half-body, Arioch.

Their opinions were perfectly aligned. They had to eliminate him immediately, with full force.

The Hunter transformed into the luminous white lion, Arioch.

Even upon seeing this transformation, the reincarnator’s expression remained unchanged. He seemed to be observing the entire process.

“I still don’t understand. Gun monsters shouldn’t have such abilities.”

The reincarnator, too, donned the form of the highest-ranked white demon, Chiyou.

It was a monster he hadn’t seen in hundreds of years. The last time was during the Republic’s civil war, when it cut through everything like the eye of a typhoon.

However, it seemed that the magic armament was not yet integrated.

—Now’s my chance.

The lion charged, closing the distance in an instant, slashing with his scythes.

But Lucius, the reincarnated person, dodged effortlessly. Not a scratch.

“If so, I’ll just have to corner you where you can’t escape.”

As he stepped in deeper.

A chill ran down his spine.

Turning around, he saw a magic spear floating. Its blade pointed straight at his heart.

When the reincarnator raised his right hand, the floating magic spear lunged.

—Remote and close combat coordination.

The white lion leaped sideways to avoid the spear.

—My body is heavy!?

Upon closer inspection, a thin layer of black mist enveloped the area.

“Grand Technique of Spatial Compression”

It seemed he had deployed a dark technique that interfered with gravity over a wide area.

While a typical gun monster’s entire body was a mass of techniques, Arioch, the gun monster in this case, concentrated all his power into the scythes on his limbs. This made his hit detection relatively small, one could argue.

Despite this, it granted him unparalleled power as a top-tier technique.

His greatest trait was his agility.

Therefore, the technique most incompatible with him was one that would slow him down, as the reincarnator before him had deployed.

A space where gravity gradually increased towards the center.

The reincarnator twirled his magic spear and pointed it at him without hesitation.

His eyes remained unchanged from before. There was no difference in his expression whether he was speaking or thrusting at someone.

“Truly insane.”

Kicking off the ground to escape the gravity field, the Hunter leapt into the magma.

—Draining his life force will be challenging.

If that’s the case, he would use his secret technique.

He channeled the light emitted by the surrounding lava into his scythe. Though there wasn’t as much lava on the upper floors, it was still sufficient as a light source.

Lucius, the reincarnated person, watched intently.

“It still doesn’t make sense. I’ve never heard of a technique that can transform ordinary sunlight into magic energy, rather than light created with magic power.”

—Of course not.

Magic techniques activated by magic power can mimic natural phenomena, but they can also grant effects that don’t occur in reality.

Wind that cuts through matter.

Fire that ignores heat conduction.

Lightning with directionality.

Ice that freezes time.

Darkness with repulsive force, reversing gravity.

Light that enhances shearing force.

Even if they look the same, they are fundamentally different.

And the people of this country don’t know. Their traditions have been lost.

“Magic power can temporarily erode and overwrite reality.”

Magic-made light and natural light. Normally, only magic light could activate techniques, but with certain rules and techniques, natural light could be used as a substitute.

This is the true mastery of formula technique, known as “Oneness.”

A power that erodes reality. Naturally, it carries risks, hence its status as forbidden magic.

The scythes on his limbs absorbed the light from the magma, turning black, pitch black. His power increased proportionally.

He sliced through the sea of magma, unleashing his physical abilities.

He sprinted.

“It’s over! Reincarnator!”

Lucius, as if anticipating this, raised his magic spear.

He thrust.

—Too slow!

The Hunter swiftly dodged to the side.

Upon landing, he stomped the ground with all his might.

He slashed from the reincarnator’s side.

From this angle, there was no way the spear could counter in time.

—I’ve got you!

The black scythe of the lion swung towards Lucius’s neck.

At that moment.

The ground exploded.

“What!?”

With the impact of the explosion, his body was thrown into the air.

At full speed, with all his weight behind it.

— I can’t stop

As he was blown away, he checked the place where he had been standing.

The ground at his feet had been gouged out.

He had probably used remote activation to cause a dragon flame explosion underground. The magic spear was a decoy to restrict his movements.

— How cunning

He enhanced his physical abilities and reinforced the scythe’s slashes. Because of its simplicity, this technique could become incredibly powerful depending on the practitioner’s skill.

Its weakness, however, was that due to its agility, it was difficult to cancel an attack. In other words, if his attack was predicted, he was vulnerable to a counter.

Of course, he had prepared countermeasures. Otherwise, he would have died long ago.

But this exceeded all his expectations.

The image of the reincarnator who laughed while destroying his homeland overlapped with his current opponent.

“Not yet!”

Had he not turned to forbidden techniques to prevent another tragedy from happening? He had forsaken his humanity.

He twisted his body in midair.

“You are strong. I took you on to learn that mysterious formula technique, but I have something far more important to attend to. I can’t afford to spend any more time or magic power on this.”

Suddenly, his body was pulled upwards. He turned to see beyond the hole in the tower’s wall.

A black sphere in the sky.

It was a remote activation of oppressive darkness.

And the place where he was drawn by gravity was…

Outside the tower.

“You won’t die even if you fall. Goodbye.”

Inside the tower, Lucius waved his hand.

As the black sphere exploded, a gust of wind blew him into the sky. Without the ability to fly, it was impossible to return.

Dragged by real gravity, he fell towards the ground, far below the city.

The Hunter bit his lip.

Humiliation.

As a hunter, as a warrior, he felt nothing but frustration.

He had been used just so the opponent could observe his technique. As soon as he was done, he was discarded because Lucius couldn’t waste any more time or magic power.

A reincarnator so skilled in the Four Techniques had seen his practical skills firsthand. Given his capabilities, Lucius would eventually reach “Oneness” on his own.

That thought only made it more infuriating.

“Reincarnator. No, Lucius… I’ve got your name. Next time, I will kill you.”
