Chapter 119: Tower Masters

The tower shook.

It was as if it was responding to the anger of the tower masters. All six tower masters directed their hostility towards Lucius. They were likely enraged by Lucius’ audacious statement.

“Yes, that’s right. I will become a respectable baron and create a domain where my people can live happily. But for that, I need power. There are many who seem to want to destroy what I want to protect.”

Lucius transformed into his Chiyou form. Then, the evil dragon descended behind him.

Lucius aimed his treasured sword at the six enraged tower masters.

“Step aside. My business is only with the one at the top.”

The evil dragon unleashed three breaths.

This was the signal for battle.

The black breath was swallowed in the center of the circle by Lukifugus, the black ring. The flame breath was caught by Satanakia, the red lion-headed giant, with both of his arms.

Two tower masters repelled the evil dragon’s breath, augmenting it with their own magic.

The evil dragon was struck by its own breath. An explosion ensued, its body torn apart and its flesh scattered.

—It’s tough against the same attribute.

However, the evil dragon’s wounds were quickly healed through super regeneration.

Amidst the rising flames and darkness, the evil dragon trembled with joy. It was thrilled to be fighting strong opponents.

The only regret was that there were no dragon species among the tower masters. If it could devour even one or two, it might have been able to trigger an evolution. Though it was unknown if there were any dragon species among the gun monsters in the first place.

While keeping an eye on the evil dragon, Lucius also began to move.

He couldn’t just stand by and watch.

He enveloped his clenched magic treasure sword with light. Light attribute against darkness attribute.

He swiftly charged at the dark ring Lukifugus.

“Your opponent is me.”

To block his attack with the light treasure sword, Nebiros, the arm of lightning, spread out in front of him.

A tremendous lightning bolt was released from its palm. Countless bolts of lightning rained down around them.

Holes opened in the sea of lava. They had been sliced by the lightning.

Lucius immediately raised his shield to block the lightning, but the electric current coursed through his spine. Lightning-type magic is difficult to block completely due to its conductive nature.

White smoke rose from Chiyou’s back.

Nebiros, the arm of lightning, reached out to grab Lucius with its giant arm.

Ignoring the pain, Lucius generated the magic spear Bone Shadow.

“Grab onto this.”

He thrust the magic spear into Nebiros’ palm.

Countless magic spears erupted from within. The tower master’s enormous magic power produced an unbelievable number of spears.

A forest of blades suddenly appeared over the sea of magma. In its center was the impaled arm of lightning, Nebiros.

“That’s one down—”

A dim shadow enveloped Lucius.

Looking up, he saw a massive wave of water crashing down from above. It was like a tsunami.

The white whale of water, Agliarept.

He let go of his treasured sword and braced himself with a defensive magic shield using both hands, but the overwhelming mass of water swept Lucius away. Neither shield nor armor could withstand the immense pressure.

“Not bad.”

For a brief moment, the sea of magma transformed into a real ocean.

The water flowed down like a waterfall, mixing with the magma on the lower rock bed, causing a steam explosion.

The massive amount of steam enveloped the surroundings in a thick fog. It was as if they had entered a cloud.

—Where am I?

Lucius had been swept far from his previous position. He couldn’t even tell where he was standing now.

His vision was obscured, and his magic sensing was impaired by the excessively dense magic power.

However, he noticed a change.

“The ground is freezing.”

Cold air began to permeate the area. The surrounding steam crystallized into ice and began to sparkle.

A chilling killing intent.

It was neither magic nor sound.

It was simply a warning from his survival instinct. It coursed through his entire body.

If he made the wrong choice, death awaited him.

Trusting his instincts, Lucius discarded his defensive magic shield.

He generated a magic spear.

And thrust it behind him.

The sound of something being pierced resonated through his arm.

As the frozen steam dissipated, the magic spear had pierced the chest of the ice mantis, Fleurety.

“I’ve gotten used to this.”

However, Fleurety remained expressionless.

Upon closer inspection, all of its numerous scythes were missing.

As the fog cleared and Lucius looked around, he saw that the entire 360-degree area around him was covered in countless ice scythes.

“Ah, I see.”

The ice mantis, Fleurety, had apparently preemptively detached and deployed its scythes.

The ground beneath Lucius’s feet rippled.

Looking down, he saw something between his legs. It was the face of a sheep with fangs.

It was the rock sheep, Sargatanas.

The earth surged up, and rocky fangs emerged to encircle Lucius. Each of them was imbued with magic power equivalent to that of the imperial guard commander, Mark Agares.

In the air were ice scythes, and on the ground were rocky fangs.

“Surrounded, huh?”

And then.

They all attacked at once.

Countless ice blades rained down, and the frozen ground shattered.

The collision of magic power created a shockwave with no escape, exploding violently. Ice and rock fragments rained down around them like a storm.

“Lucius-sama!”

Melania’s scream echoed from a distance.

It was a battle straight out of myth.

The sea of magma was transformed again and again: into thunderous explosions, a forest of blades, an ocean, thick clouds, and then an ice field. Who could believe such a sight?

Finally, hail fell on the scorching ground.

The surrounding Kyrgyz closed their eyes and prayed. Whether it was to cling to their god or to escape reality was unclear.

And at the epicenter of this catastrophe stood Lucius.

“Aaah… aaah…”

He shouldn’t be alive. Facing even one tower master was a challenge.

To face six at once seemed like madness or a death wish.

As Melania’s anxiety grew, the dust began to settle.

She expected to see Lucius torn to shreds.

But what she saw was different.

A row of red-black spears stood.

They surrounded Chiyou like a cage.

Inside the cage, the ice mantis Fleurety was impaled by the spears.

Above them, a gigantic creature soared. A black-silver dragon with three heads.

Its three jaws were biting into the rock sheep Sargatanas.

“When did that happen?”

He had been fighting the dark ring Lukifugus and the fire giant Satanakia just moments ago. She couldn’t comprehend what had happened.

Melania collapsed to the ground.

Watching from above was the Fairy King.

“So, you pulled the magic spears together by affinity, and then summoned your mount by undoing the summoning spell.”

Lucius looked up at the Fairy King.

He hadn’t moved from where he was earlier. The clash with the six tower masters wasn’t even enough to make him flinch.

“I don’t have time for this. Fairy King, come here.”

Lucius provocatively tossed the ice mantis Fleurety impaled on the magic spear aside.

“You don’t need to exert yourself. Ultimately, your death is inevitable.”

As the red light grew stronger, the magic power swelled.

The six tower masters immediately retreated, as if fleeing in terror.

—Well, I suppose that’s to be expected.

Monsters are straightforward when it comes to power. While there are spells unsuited for combat, they do not prioritize lineage or blood ties like humans. If someone were to summon all the tower masters, it would undoubtedly mean they are stronger than any of the tower masters.

However, the Fairy King’s magic power was truly minimal, like that of a fairy. It was natural for everyone to think it was a weak monster.

Magic power is like water. Sometimes it is scattered like mist, and other times it is quietly contained in a vessel, making it either easy or difficult to sense.

But the total amount does not change. That is why the Orléans family can accurately measure magic power.

Yet now, the monster before him was emitting enough magic power to shake the earth and scorch the sky.

Could he freely increase or decrease his magic power, or was he capable of extremely sophisticated manipulation of magic power to conceal his true amount?

Most likely the latter.

If he continued to emit such overwhelming pressure and magic power, no one would consider living around the tower. There would be no talk of making pacts.

It was unimaginable how one could compress the water of a great lake into a single glass.

“Haha, just how much magic power is going to swell up?”

The body enveloped in red light grew enormous. The Fairy King’s body, which had been the size of a palm, raged like a great river.

Then, it emitted a dazzling flash.

It was an ominous light, one that offered not hope but despair and false salvation.

From within the light emerged a colossal red serpent. It might be more fitting to call it a dragon.

It spread twelve wings as if to soar through the sky. It had eyes on both sides and in the center, though the central eye remained closed.

Its massive body, larger than Chiyou, filled the space within the tower.

The magic power was so overwhelming that it erased the presence of the tower masters.

An imposing presence with a gigantic body.

An intimidation so powerful that it caused everything to shrink.

This gun monster was an existence far beyond even the evil dragon and Chiyou.

But there were no regrets.

“What must I do to summon you?”

“Survive. Endure my strike.”

“Simple enough.”

Lucius put some distance between himself and the Fairy King, stomping his feet into the ground. He glared at the red, glowing serpent-dragon.

“The moment of unification.”

The being that was once the Fairy King spread its twelve wings.
