Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 63: Exchange Day 2

Day 156 of living in another world

Today we set out in the morning for the southern fortress.

Today’s attendants are Tsubaki, Rad, and Roa. The selection was based on gender balance and introductions to the locals. Another deciding factor was Rad’s ability to handle the wagons.

Natsuki and Haruka also wanted to accompany us, but we politely declined since they were obviously half-taunting.

As yesterday, we proceeded, extending the barriers. I could have fixed it separately, but I show  them the flashing lights. I left it like this so that they wouldn’t get suspicious.

“Rad and Roa, I want you to memorize their faces and characteristics, and make sure that you communicate them to the warriors, especially the two scouts.”

“Yes, sir.”

“I understand.”

I reconfirmed that we had discussed the response to the other party as of yesterday.

As soon as we found monsters along the way, Roa, who was still in the carriage, defeated them with earth magic. Perhaps because of Sakura, she was much more aggressive than before. Crawl in the dungeon quite often and easily kill orcs course, it’s up to that point, but–. No matter what, there was no doubt that she was a reliable person.

◇◇◇

When I saw the fort, Kyoko was in the watchtower, and she answered me by raising her hand. Like yesterday, we stopped in front of the entrance and waited to be greeted.

“Keisuke-san, good morning, everyone. You arrived quite early.”

“Good morning. We arrived early today because we came by carriage as you see here.”

What a surprise, all 10 of them were there to greet us. I thought it was a little too imprudent, but I took it as a sign of sincerity on the part of the other party.

As soon as we exchanged greetings, their eyes were glued to Rad and Roa. It was their first time to see the locals, and it was no wonder, since they were beastmen. They were very interested in us, so we started to introduce ourselves right away.

“There are four of us here today, including myself. These two are a father and daughter of the rabbit tribe, and their names are Rad and Roa.”

“I am Rad. The Japanese took over our village in the forest, and when we were at our wits’ end, the village chief saved us. Now I live as a warrior in the village.”

“I am Roa, his daughter. I have heard about you from the village chief. I hope you will be good friends with me.”

The ears of the rabbits are moving around. They seemed to be glued to it, but I ignored them and went on with my story.

“Well then, please check what I brought. Try on the clothes and shoes, and if they don’t fit, feel free to tell me.”

Saying that, they started unloading, but naturally they couldn’t enter the barrier. Line them up outside the barrier once and let them pick them up――. In addition to changing clothes and trying on armor, I asked them to carry everything I brought into the fort.

A short time later, everyone who had finished changing their clothes returned. They look like different people from before. They were all beautiful men and women to begin with, and they really looked good.

“How are your clothes and shoes?”

“Thank you very much. Everything is fine.”

All of them were excited to be wearing new clothes and underwear for the first time in five months. Even now, they were excited as they checked the feel of their clothes.

“I’m glad to hear that, do you think you have enough weapons and tools?”

“No, it’s more than enough! I can’t imagine how comfortable this will be. …… Thank you so much!”

Hayato-Kun seems to be very happy too. The women around are happy to see him. What an envy – it was a heartwarming spectacle.

Rikka Tachibana, with her dignified appearance, had swords strapped to both her hips and …… her back. She was grinning as she pulled the sword out and in again and again. The joy of it was even a little insane. I wonder if she has that kind of special proclivity. I am a little curious.

“I’m not sure how you’ve managed to get this far …… in such a short time since the transfer, and I mean that in a good way, of course.”

“In the beginning, I was desperate to live or die. With everyone’s help, I finally made it this far.”

“Life in the village …… must be very fulfilling.”

Kyoko replied. There was a hint of a hint of connotation in her words, but I generally understood what she meant.

“Oh, it’s all right. I know that you all have a strong relationship of trust with each other. I will not forcefully invite you into the village or interfere excessively, so please don’t worry.”

“I am sorry. It seems that Keisuke-san already knows what I’m talking about.”

“Whatever your relationship is, i have no right to tell you what to do with it.”

Kyoko-san understands that their harem situation is more or less distorted.

“Then, can we also verify the barrier?”

“Ah, yes. I’ve moved all the stuff inside. You can come anytime.”

After receiving the other party’s confirmation, I immediately went to the storage room to imagine the expansion. But there was no response at all. Is it still no good if there are other people’s belongings? Just as I was thinking that, Tsubaki said to me

“Keisuke-san, why don’t you try fixing the barrier that has already been extended?”

Oh, so you can’t expand the enclave at the same time? Thinking that there is a point, I called out to Kyoko and the others.

“Everyone, is it okay if I fix the barrier I’m putting up now? I’ll definitely remove it when I return to the village.”

I said this, but they didn’t seem to understand what I meant. I had no choice but to explain about the barrier in a casual way.

“I see. …… If that’s what you mean, please feel free to do so. I’ve already received payment for my services.”

Since the other party also says that there is no problem, first fix the path up to here. Then, the blinking subsided and the usual barrier was put up. Next, I imaged the expansion of the site toward the storeroom, and this time it was in a blinking state.

“The building is still there. Then I’ll fix it next time.”

As a result, the shed in the barrier remained as it had been. It seems that site expansion is possible even when there are other people’s possessions.

“Thanks for the advice, Tsubaki.”

“You’ve made the village even safer. I’m glad it worked out.”

After checking inside the hut just to be sure, I lifted the barrier around the hut.

“Thank you very much, everyone. I’m glad we were able to complete the verification without incident.”

“I see. I’m honestly astonished to be shown such an extraordinary ability.”

It seems that Kyoko-san has a correct understanding of the usage of this ability.

“The fact that I showed you our trump card is also a sign that I have no intention of antagonizing you. I would be grateful if you could think so.”

“I fully understand that. In the current situation, it is possible to conquer a country in an instant if one wanted to, without having to go through such a roundabout process.”

“I don’t show any mercy to adversaries, though. I always try to be careful not to be too absorbed in my own abilities.”

Although I cannot say that I have gained their trust, I think that the disclosure of my abilities and the supportive items have made them more relaxed than I had expected. As proof, she showed me the inside of their fortress and taught me how to fish and make salt in the sea.

Perhaps they had discussed and decided on some things after we had parted yesterday. The tour went smoothly, and the mood was so welcoming that it seemed a bit exaggerated.

“Even so, Kyoko-san’s magic is amazing. It’s surprising that you can use not only earth magic, but also fire, water, and wind.”

A precipitous cliff by the sea. This was manipulated with earth magic to create a stairway down the side. There was a handrail to ensure a safe descent.

There was a cave at the end of the descent, which was used as a base for salt making and fishing. The cave was hollowed out of the rock face and was apparently handmade by Kyoko.

“I haven’t grasped everything yet,but I’ve learned it by trying various things, just like in an otherworldly fantasy.”

“Oh, I know, I know. I did the same thing. To be honest, this knowledge has helped me many times.”

“I was a little embarrassed at first, though, because no one else seemed to be interested in such things except me.”

“In our house, everyone except Tsubaki was a big fan. In that sense, we were lucky.”

As I expected, people of the same kind talk a lot together. The other people were also getting into a lively conversation with Rad and Roa nearby.

By the way, I’m invited inside the fort right now. Of course there is no barrier. I understand that everyone’s appraisal has been completed and their level is around 10. No one here will be outdone, and in the worst case, all i have to do is set up a barrier and banish them. The most important thing to do now is to establish a friendly relationship with them.

◇◇◇

After that, we continued to have a friendly chat.

When it was time for lunch, everyone was so surprised that their eyes popped out when they were given Tsubaki’s special rice balls and bread. Most people were sobbing when they ate it. Or rather, it’s still going on.

“It’s delicious……, it’s so good!”

“Ugh, it tastes so nostalgic ……”

“Gulp, gulp, gulp.”

I thought I had brought an inedible amount, but by the looks of it, it may all be gone. Tsubaki and I were also satisfied with the fresh seafood, which we hadn’t had in a while. They said they would let us have some as souvenirs, which we gladly accepted.

They got their first nostalgic meal in a long time, plus some clean clothes and useful tools. Now was the right time, when their nerves and caution were at their lowest. With that in mind, I began the conversation.

“Can I have a word with you all?”

All the brave men turned to me at once. Their expressions were calm and showed no signs of caution.

“I want to tell you the main reason why I want to be friends with you all, and I want to tell it to you now.”
