Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 6: I knew it was the right place!

By the time I showed them to the room, the sun was setting and it was getting dark outside.

No lights were on, so the room was strangely dimly lit. Under such circumstances, the three of us were sitting facing each other at the table in the living room.

Naturally, I thought they had not eaten yet, so I served them the leftover bread and other suitable food in the refrigerator. Perhaps due to fatigue and anxiety, they were eating at a slow pace, but they seemed to be eating well. No matter what the situation is, I know they are still hungry.

In fact, I wanted to ask them more about their  situation and share some information with them. However, I could see that they were exhausted. I decided to let them rest for today.

I prepared a futon for visitors and let them sleep in the living room. Their clothes were dirty, so I gave them two used T-shirts.

(Huh, I’m tired too. ……. I have a lot of things to think about, but I’ve had enough for today. Let’s go to bed.)

I’ve been thinking all day about the sudden transition to another world and my worries about the future, and I feel like my head is going to explode. Anyway, I just wanted to be safe and not to die. That was my priority for now. With this in mind, I went to bed and closed my eyes.

Life in Another World, Day 2

6 o’clock in the morning, after I went to sleep last night, nothing happened, there were no attacks of monsters. This morning I woke up feeling good and in good physical condition.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning.”

When I went to the living room, they were already awake and seemed to be having a rather pleasant conversation. Compared to yesterday, they looked much calmer. They must have been relieved to be in a familiar Japanese house.

“Let’s have breakfast for now. I can only serve cereal and raw vegetables, is that okay?”

“Thank you very much.”

“Thank you very much.”

Thinking back, this was the first time since I took over this house from my parents that a woman stayed at our house and had breakfast with me. If it weren’t for this situation, it would have been a very enjoyable day.

(Or maybe it’s the other way around…it’s because of this situation that I can do whatever I want. ……. Let’s not do that, it’ll never end well.)

I got myself together and talked to them.

“It’s fine after you’ve eaten, but I would like to ask you about how the two of you came here.”

“Oh, yes, I understand.”

“I’ll do the same.”

After a light meal, we decided to talk in the living room.

“First of all, let me introduce myself. I am Keisuke Kusakabe, 40 years old, single, and I used to work in the construction industry in Japan.”

“My name is Tsubaki Sasamiya. I work at a bakery store. My age is 24.”

Sasamiya-san is 24, or it was a bakery, not a cafe. Her language is polite but not formal.

“I am Sakura Todou. I will be 19 this year. I also went to a vocational school in Japan.”

Oops. I can’t tell if it’s intentional or not, but let’s start by asking around.

“Thanks. By the way, does Todou-san by any chance know where this world is?”

When I asked that, Sasamiya-san also shifted her gaze towards Todou-san.

“I’m sure this is a different world after all, right? And you, Kusakabe-san, have some kind of skill or unusual ability, don’t you?”

Todou-san answered a little excitedly. It seems that she and I are in the same boat.

“I wonder if you like otherworldly things as much as I do.”

“Yes, that’s right. The sudden light and the transition to a strange forest, ……, is the standard for otherworldly stories!”

Somehow, it’s completely different from the impression I had when I first saw her yesterday. When I was surprised by Todou-san who leaned forward and spoke, Sasamiya-san, who was outside the net, asked me with a bewildered look.                                                                                                                           “I-what do you mean by different worlds or transition?”

Sasamiya-san was not familiar with this kind of talk and seemed to have no idea what she was talking about.

“ There are Japanese novels about other worlds. It’s quite popular, and recently there have been a lot of anime adaptations of other-worldly stories.”

Todou-san was talking fast and rambled on.

“No, I know such things are popular. I haven’t read or seen much about it, but I’ve read about it on…….”

As expected, Sasamiya-san seems to be unfamiliar with otherworldly knowledge.

“I just wondered why I was in a different world and how you knew I was transferred from Japan. I’m sorry…”

“Oh, it’s all right. I’m just saying that it’s very similar to the development of that otherworldly novel.”

“I see.”

I’m not convinced, but let’s move on.

“So, regarding skills, I definitely have them. The thin film I saw yesterday, I call it the barrier. The one that banished Toudou-san is one of them.”

“I see. I knew it.”

“Toudou san nodded her head when she heard my story.”

“By the way. At that time, Toudou-san, why did you immediately accept to my request?”

“Oh, that’s right. You were very cautious… If I refused in that situation, I felt that at worst I would be kicked out.”

“I see. I’m sorry, but at the time I was quite confused too. I am sorry for giving you such a bad impression.”

“No, it’s a natural decision in that situation. If the positions were reversed, I would do the same.”

“But Todou-san, you are very perceptive in many ways. I think you have a good understanding of this kind of development.”

“Well… I will now explain the situation before I met the two of you. If there is any difference, please let me know.”

“Yes.”

I explained the situation from that mysterious light until I met them in as much detail as possible. But it was all too sudden for me to understand.

“I wonder, is there anything different?”

“Well, I was in the forest with the same feeling.”

First of all, there was Sasamiya-san.

“When I was in the store, there were customers and co-workers, but the next thing I knew, there was no one there but me and the store wasn’t there either. At first I was too scared to move, but after a little while Todou-san came and called out to me,…… and from there the two of us wandered around in the forest for a long time.”

Well, it seems that the two of them were not together from the beginning. She added that no other Japanese had seen them.

“Later, on the way here, we saw a river. I think the river is about three meters wide and about knee-deep.”

“I see. If you remember anything else, please let me know.”

“Yes, I understand.”

Were her colleagues and customers at the store not transferred? Or were they sent to another location? It’s possible that only Sasamiya-san transferred, but there’s still so much we don’t know.

(But it is good news that there is a river nearby. I’ll have to think of a way to get there as safely as possible. ……)
