Chapter 106: Cyrus’s Calculations (Part 1)

Let’s rewind a bit in time to Titania Castle, in the Throne Room.

“Excellent, we’ve successfully trapped the Alliance forces within the barrier. It was a splendid operation. Truly, the benefits of age.”

“Indeed, King Cyrus. It seems even that youngling Enzo didn’t anticipate we would prepare a new magic reactor. Well, this was orchestrated before he became the Demon King. There was no way for him to notice. Ku ku ku.”

Even that Demon King Enzo fell into the trap of these cunning elders. The malice spanning hundreds of years is truly terrifying. With this, they are like caged birds. Their fate is entirely in our hands. However… it seems we let Demon King Enzo slip away.

Well, it doesn’t matter. In order to ensure they can never oppose us elves again, let the Alliance forces be thoroughly annihilated at this opportunity.

Cyrus called upon General Green, who commanded the Elven army at the front lines, to explain the upcoming operation.

“General Green, we’ve successfully trapped more enemy soldiers inside the barrier than we expected. We’re now moving on to the second phase of the operation. Proceed as planned and launch the ‘Arrow of God’ at the enemy headquarters.”

“Understood, Your Majesty.”

“Ensure that the commanding officers remaining in the headquarters are taken down without fail. Cut off their retreat routes. However, make sure not to chase the soldiers too far to Gonhillrim. In the previous attack, soldiers disappeared upon reaching the teleportation destination.”

“Yes! I will definitely achieve results!”

After giving an enthusiastic response and a triumphant bow, General Green left the room to issue orders to various units.

Elder Varyon, wearing a white sash, listened to the conversation, placing his hand on his chin.

“Hmm, the ‘Arrow of God’… a specialized unit composed of the King’s Royal Guards. Using it at this point… it might be a good idea to destroy their escape route teleportation magic circles ahead of time.”

“Right, cut off their escape routes and supply lines. Even if they have backup teleportation magic circles in their storage items, they won’t be able to use them within the barrier. Once we eliminate those outside the barrier, the war is ours.”

“However, the biggest issue is Demon King Enzo outside the barrier, isn’t it? Well, at that time, I’ll manage somehow.”

Elder Varyon smiled eerily while remembering something.

Afterward, we watched battles taking place around the world on screens set up in the Throne Room.

The unit led by Arthur, the strongest of the human race from the west, was being gradually diminished by our attacks, although they barely held on due to reinforcements from the north. But there was no need to panic. If we continue this assault, their SP will eventually run out. Without Arthur’s invincibility skills, he’s not much of a threat now. Mimura was indeed useful in this regard.

As for the demon race… it seems that the units from the south and east have converged.

Nevertheless, what a brute force tactic they are using. Intercepting and defending against the granate stones before they hit the ground. General Green seems to understand this as well. He minimizes the number of granate stones used in each attack to chip away at their SP while conserving the granate stones. Yes, it appears there’s no better strategy for these demons.

“King Cyrus, it seems the conclusion is just a matter of time now. What are your plans for after this?”

Elder Varyon’s expression showed confidence as events unfolded as expected.

“Hmm… first, we need to secure the demon race. We will reconstruct the magic reactors in the exile land and keep them there. Of course, all those with the blood of the Demon King must be executed… but wait. If we use them, we might be able to create even more efficient magic reactors. We need to consider that point…”

“And what about the humans?”

“We’ll need a gateway to accept people from other worlds. We can continue to use the adventurer’s guild as we always have to keep them under our control. We just need to send individuals who are likely to become our puppets as the new kings. The dwarves, their technological prowess is a threat. After taking Gonhillrim, it might be best to exterminate them all… “

“I’m relieved to hear that. It wasn’t a mistake that we chose you as our successor.”

Elder Varyon chuckled. When all is said and done, you two will have outlived your usefulness. You may think you’re manipulating me as the King as you please, but it is actually you who are being used.

Once this conflict ends, the two of us, me and Raythal, will guide the world to tranquility. I will eliminate all the seeds of conflict. Afterward, Raythal, you will rule over us elves and create a world where we can live in peace. You may oppose my methods now, but I believe you’ll come to understand in time…

The battle inside the barrier seem to be reaching a turning point. The defensive line of the Alliance forces is gradually retreating, which means they are running out of SP (skill points).

“It seems like the end is near. The demon race appears to be the first to run out of SP. How about having around 400 young demon races as livestock?”

“Yes, that should be sufficient. You there, send a messenger to General Green just in case. Make sure they do not exterminate them. Capture about 400 young men and women as prisoners.”

The “Arrow of God” hasn’t arrived yet. I hope Raythal watches this battle and gives up… No, no, I got lost in thought for a moment. What’s wrong? The two elders have been standing still, mouths agape, staring at the screen.

Is it the demon race’s screen? What has happened?

“What… What’s that massive barrier-like thing? The demons couldn’t possibly perform such a stunt. Someone explain!”

“C-Cyrus-sama, that appeared suddenly at the moment our attacks rained down upon the demons. That barrier-like thing is… different from our elven barriers. It’s also unlike demon magic. It might be a skill from the otherworlders… but to me, it looks more like a monster’s skill…”

“A monster? Are you saying they sent it in using teleportation magic circles? But that colossal barrier is not something that can be set up easily. I can’t see any powerful monsters around.”

I scrutinized the battlefield displayed before me, and then I noticed something strange.

“I see someone over there, Elder Sabia. I can see someone at the demon’s frontlines wearing clothes that look like those worn by otherworlders. Enhance that part.”

Elder Sabia, wearing a green sash, operated her device to zoom in on the demon’s frontlines.

“It’s a… child!? And they have ears growing on their head! Who is that?”

No one had an answer to that question. A beastman? Could it be that, at this moment, a new race we know nothing about has appeared?

Furthermore, what’s the meaning of that? The strength and range of that ridiculous barrier. It easily surpasses the limits of magic that an individual can handle…

“Cyrus-sama, it’s not just that young girl. Even among the demons… outside the barrier, there’s a dragon.”

“A dragon?… Could it be that the child is actually a monster in disguise!?”
