Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 35: Greeting
“U-ugh… I’m getting nervous…”
“Why are you getting nervous, Himeji? You’re not even appearing in the show today.”
“I know, but… with this many people, just watching makes me nervous…”
It was the day of the actual GalColle event.
We were in the waiting room. On the monitor, we could see the venue. The doors had just opened, and people were starting to come in.
“They say it holds 30,000 people at the National Stadium Gymnasium, and it’s packed to capacity. Just watching makes me restless.”
“Even overseas collections don’t get crowds this big—it’s kind of refreshing.”
For overseas collections, the audience mostly consists of brand representatives and buyers. Since the shows are meant for the sellers, there’s usually no entrance fee, and they’re rarely held at this scale.
But GalColle is a show targeted at Japanese consumers. It’s more like a big event, so the turnout is on another level.
“Mhm, it really lives up to its name as Japan’s biggest fashion show. Plus, with the online stream, I hear viewership will exceed a million.”
“Wait, a million concurrent viewers!? That’s amazing!”
Himeji-san reacted with surprise to Takarazuka-san’s comment.
“C-concurrent viewers? Oh right, that’s what they call it. I’m not really familiar with online stuff or those kinds of terms… Himeji-chan, are you surprisingly well-versed in that?”
“Um… a little, yeah.”
Noticing Himeji-san was getting uncomfortable, I quickly changed the subject.
“O-oh yeah! I heard there was some sign that a suspicious person had broken into the atelier. I wonder what that was about?”
Not long after I started using the atelier, I heard from the women there that someone had apparently broken in.
“If Tsumu-tsumu’s clothes had been stolen, there’s no way Keina would’ve forgiven them.”
“Exactly. But nothing was actually stolen. I figured it was just a thief after valuables, but apparently even that wasn’t touched. It’s odd.”
“In the end, no one knows what the intruder was after.”
Just like everyone was saying—it was a strange case where nothing was actually taken.
“In any case, I’m just glad no one ran into them. You never know what a suspicious person might do…”
“Yeah. Good thing it didn’t happen while everyone was here. But if it had, I would’ve protected all of you, so don’t worry.”
I’ve taken down a few suspicious people before, and I’ve kept up my training for just that.
“Go…”
“Tsumu-tsumu…”
“Sakasegawa-kun…”
“Go-kun…”
…For some reason, everyone was staring straight at me!?
Wait, did I say something weird? I mean, it’s normal for a guy to protect the girls, right?
…Maybe they think I’m not reliable enough?
“Amagasaki-san, this is a restricted area even for affiliated personnel. You can’t come in here…!”
“Oh, come now. Can’t I at least say hello?”
As we heard voices from outside, the waiting room door suddenly opened—without even a knock.
“Excuse me.”
Standing there was none other than the third daughter of the Amagasaki family—Mika-san.
Umm… is it really Mika-san?
She looks… quite a bit plumper than I remember…
“This is really a problem! The identities of everyone except for Keina-san have been kept secret until the show! And the brand’s designer is confidential even after the event! Please, you mustn’t be here!”
Next to her, Keina’s manager, Tarumi-san, was trying frantically to stop her.
“Greetings, Keina-san. Oh my, I came to catch a glimpse of the much-talked-about Kobe Keina, and what do I find? Why, Go, what are you doing here?”
“Mika-san…”
“Don’t tell me you’re a model in this show? Of course not. After all, you’re just a useless man—you can’t stand on the GalColle stage. So what is it, makeup or something? You’re still clinging to life doing tasks anyone could do, I see.”
“Heh… That’s right. Today I’ll be doing everyone’s makeup.”
Mika-san sneered down at me, speaking with scorn.
I brushed it off with a laugh and replied calmly.
I had requested to keep the identity of the brand’s designer hidden this time.
Partly for the mystery, but also because I just wanted to live a normal life—and they’d respected that wish.
Tarumi-san was clearly struggling, and I only agreed to participate because Keina had asked me.
It’s not about being in the spotlight. The show is for the clothes—I’m fine staying behind the scenes.
“A-actually! Sakasegawa-kun’s makeup isn’t something just anyone can do! He’s amazing at it!”
“Himeji-san…”
Even Himeji-san had raised her voice to defend me against Mika-san.
“Oh my, how sudden. You’ve got the looks and style, I’ll give you that, but you don’t compare to me. And I’ve never seen you in the entertainment world before. Sorry, could you keep your mouth shut, little nobody?”
With that, Mika-san glared sharply at Himeji-san.
“You’re the one who barged in without knocking! This area is supposed to be off-limits! And Go-kun is amazing—I won’t forgive anyone who insults him!”
“Why, if it isn’t Suzune Takarazuka. Are you one of the secret guests in today’s show? I used to think you were a remarkable person, but clearly you have no taste. To call him amazing… it really shows your low standards, doesn’t it?”
“What did you say!!”
“Now now, Suzu-chan, calm down, calm down.”
I held back Takarazuka-san, who looked like she was about to lunge at Mika-san.
“What are you even saying? Tsumu-tsumu may be doing makeup today, but his main role is as the designer.”
“K-Keina-san!”
Tarumi-san tried to stop her, but it was already too late.
“Ah.”
Realizing her slip, Keina quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
Despite her otherworldly appearance, she often acted childishly… and now she’d just accidentally revealed that I was the designer.
“Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my? This is the designer? I heard he was Celena’s apprentice, but it must have been a publicity stunt. Without my image, there’s no way any good clothes could be made. What kind of inspiration could come from a man like this? Maybe he just created some garbage shaped like clothing? Poor things, having to walk around wearing trash…”
“You’ve been noisy from the start! Just watch—Go’s clothes are incredible. We’ll show you just how amazing they are.”
“You’re Asuka from Asterisk, aren’t you? Clothes only mean something when there’s a model to wear them. It’s not about what you wear, but who wears it. Still, I’m very confident in today’s outfit. Just try not to fall into despair after seeing us. Now then, good day.”
With that, Mika-san swept out of the room like a storm.
“I’m sorry, Sakasegawa-san. I couldn’t stop her from getting in.”
“It’s alright, Tarumi-san. I had a feeling something like this might happen. Besides… thank you, everyone. I’m really glad you were all here. If I’d been alone, I don’t think I could’ve said anything back.”
I truly felt grateful that everyone was with me.
“No… I was just so angry I couldn’t help myself… but it is true that you’re amazing, Sakasegawa-kun.”
“Sorry I blurted out that you were the designer, Tsumu-tsumu. I just wanted people to know how great you are…”
“Yeah, you’re incredible. You should hold your head high. Honestly, I can’t believe that woman is your sister—not just her personality, but… also, um…”
Takarazuka-san seemed hesitant to finish her thought.
“Well, not to be rude, but she’s… gotten pretty fat. It’s been a while since I last saw her, and even I didn’t recognize her at first.”
“She looked really different from her recent magazine shoots and photostagram posts… They must’ve edited those a lot. Anyway, let’s see what kind of clothes she shows up in. But no matter what she wears, it won’t compare to Go’s.”
“Yeah… hearing that makes me happy.”
Mika-san and her team were set to open the show as the first act.
Since we had the superstar model Keina, we were going last to make her appearance the highlight of the show. That meant we had time to watch Mika-san’s brand strut down the runway.
She seemed so confident—just what kind of outfit was she going to try and win with?
And with that, we began preparing for the big moment.
