Chapter 82: Fence Building

“Rozzo, keep your voice down.”

“Ah, my bad! I got excited remembering that DVD from yesterday! …Hey, Sato, did you pick out that spicy DVD too?”

“Yes, but let’s not say it too loudly with Sheila nearby. I got it because I heard Sid likes women.”

“Man, that’s amazing! I’ve never seen someone that beautiful before!”

“I’m glad you liked it. …But in the end, you two ended up sharing it, huh?”

I had discreetly handed the AV to Rozzo to avoid any awkwardness, but if they were just going to pass it back and forth, I guess I didn’t need to be so careful.

Still, I wasn’t wrong to be considerate. And despite claiming they didn’t get along, this just proved that they were actually pretty close.

“Rozzo kept pestering me about it, so I had no choice.”

“Come on, man! Sid was bragging about it every day—of course I got curious!”

“Well, in any case, I’m glad you two get along.”

“”We do NOT get along!””

They denied it in unison, but with how perfectly in sync they were, there was no way they weren’t close.

I didn’t have enough NP right now, but maybe one day, I could gift Rozzo a solar generator. Since they needed to charge the DVD player anyway, it would probably lead to even more brotherly bonding.

“For now, let’s get this charging. I’ll hold on to it for a bit.”

“Yeah, thanks a bunch!”

With that, I took the DVD player and started charging it.

While I was busy, the two of them were talking with Sheila, and from a distance, I could see them looking flustered.

“Hah… well, if you’re asking, I guess I can’t say no. I’m free anyway, so I might as well help out.”

“Yeah! Charging takes a while, right? In the meantime, I’ll help too!”

“Rozzo, Sid, thank you!”

As I walked over to join them, I overheard their conversation—it seemed Sheila had asked them for help.

That probably played a big part in their decision, but they also seemed willing to help without hesitation.

“You guys agreed to help with the fence?”

“I can’t say no when a beautiful lady asks me. Besides, making a fence is easy.”

“Exactly! Let’s knock this out real quick!”

“With you two helping, this will be a huge help. Just tell me what to do, and I’ll get to work.”

And so, we began building the fence with Rozzo and Sid.

Sheila and I handled transporting materials, Rozzo took care of processing the wood, and Sid handled the assembly.

Rozzo’s craftsmanship was impressive, but Sid’s construction skills were on a whole other level.

I hadn’t been able to see him build the house before, so I was mesmerized watching him work.

“Sato, you’re slacking off. If you don’t move, we won’t finish today.”

“Sorry! Sid, your construction skills are amazing. Are you using magic for this?”

“Yeah. I learned earth magic specifically for construction. My strength and magic work together to make this possible.”

Just as he said, he was using raw strength to carry the heavy wooden beams, then expertly using magic to secure them in place.

His precision was incredible—even the smallest details were done with care. No doubt he was the best carpenter in the royal capital.

As I watched the wooden fence take shape at an astonishing speed, I pushed through my exhaustion and continued carrying materials.

Unlike farming, this was simple physical labor, and my muscles were screaming in protest.

Still, thanks to everyone’s hard work, we managed to complete the fence in about three hours.

“Alright, that should do it. Sato, anything you want to change?”

“No, it’s perfect! The spikes are a great touch—it should keep out both wild animals and monsters.”

“Plus, we’ve got Crow watching from the sky. Lua and the others can fight during the day, and at night, we’ve got Thread, who’s now a Wight Holy Knight. No one’s getting through.”

“The defenses are solid. And you even built a proper entrance, so it’s easy for us to go into the back mountains when needed.”

“Glad you like it. We just helped out for fun, so don’t worry about paying us.”

“Yeah, same here! We did it ‘cause we felt like it!”

“Thank you both so much.”

For me, it was backbreaking labor, but Sid and Rozzo barely looked tired. To them, this really was just “light work.”

Still, I didn’t feel right letting them help for free, and there was still some time left before the DVD player finished charging.

Maybe I could cook up some simple Japanese food using the ingredients from Lua’s welcome party.

Even if the work wasn’t hard for them, a good meal after a job well done would definitely taste better.
