Chapter 75: Lua and the Others’ House

On the evening of the tenth day since Sid arrived at the villa—just as he had boldly declared—he completed the construction of the house.

“Sato, I’ve built the house just as promised.”

“You really finished it in ten days…! Thank you so much!”

“I should be the one thanking you. You gave me something great, and you let me recharge my device every day for the past ten days.”

“It’s no problem at all. Feel free to come by anytime.”

“Yeah, I’ll be back whenever my battery runs out. But first, check out the house. If anything needs fine-tuning, I’ll fix it on the spot.”

“Understood. I’ll take a look.”

Since this house was for Lua, Portia, and Lois, the three of us headed to the newly built single-story home together.

By the way, Lua and the others have been contributing greatly as a workforce, just as planned, taking care of the regular farmland.

Tasks like pinching off buds, pruning, and pest control are the same as in my skill-based farm, but soil preparation and weed removal are only necessary in tilled fields.

Despite the extra labor, it takes much longer for crops to grow. It really makes me realize just how superior the skill-based farm is.

Not to mention, I can convert the crops into NP and use that NP to instantly purchase whatever I need—it’s more of a cheat skill than I originally thought.

But anyway, Lua and the others have been adapting well despite being former adventurers.

I feel bad that I can only pay them a modest salary, so maybe it’s time to treat them to some Japanese food.

“This is amazing. You built such a fine house for us?”

“You’ve all been working hard. Feel free to use this place however you like.”

“Sato, thank you so much!”

“I’ll dedicate myself to working here until I die!”

“Please don’t say things like that. Life should be about having fun and taking it easy.”

Of course, work is important, but there are very few things more valuable than one’s own life.

Having experienced burnout before, my motto is to live happily.

I want these three to enjoy life without feeling burdened.

“Also, even though the house is built, you’re free to leave anytime. If someone else needs it, they can use it. Please don’t feel tied down—if you find something else you want to do, you can go whenever you like.”

“Sato, you’re practically a saint. Just like Portia, I feel like swearing my loyalty to you.”

“I’m not a saint. I’m just an ordinary person. And I really don’t need loyalty.”

Lua’s words were a bit over the top, while Portia and Lois looked like they were on the verge of tears.

I was only saying what seemed normal to me, though.

“…It’s a touching moment and all, but can we check out the house now?”

“Ah, sorry, Sid. Lua, Portia, Lois—take a look inside. If anything seems off, let Sid know. He’ll fix it on the spot if possible.”

“Got it. If we find anything, we’ll let him know.”

When we stepped inside and took a good look around, I was genuinely impressed—it was hard to believe this house was built in just ten days.

The framework was solid, and even though the foundation wasn’t concrete, it was still well-constructed.

For Sid and his crew of four to finish this in such a short time, it really showed not only his skill as a top-tier carpenter but also the sheer power of magic.

“There’s no draft at all, and it’s more spacious inside than I expected. I don’t see a single flaw.”

“Agreed. This level of craftsmanship doesn’t seem rushed at all.”

“Glad to hear that. Since the river is nearby, I was able to pull in water, so you’ve got a bathroom, toilet, and running water. The only downside is that it’s not very well insulated against the cold.”

That wouldn’t be a problem.

I could just buy a stove, and besides, they probably wouldn’t be staying here in the winter anyway.

Since they were adventurers, I was planning to have them delve into dungeons during the winter months.

By splitting into two teams—Sheila’s team and Lua’s team—we could double the earnings, and they’d get to experience the thrill of adventuring again, something they might not have fully appreciated before.

“We’ll handle the insulation on our end. Sid, thank you for the flawless work.”

“Glad to hear it. Let me know if you need anything else. I’ll build up to four more houses for free.”

“Really? Thank you. I’ll take you up on that offer.”

After expressing my gratitude to Sid and his team, I watched as they left in their carriage.

I was thankful not only to Sid for accepting the job but also to Rozzo for introducing him.

“Sato, thank you for building this house. I’ll work hard to repay this kindness.”

“Thank you!”

“Yeah, but remember to take it easy and have fun while you work.”

With that, I left the three of them and returned to the villa.

I had been spending a lot of NP lately on things like the DVD player, DVDs, and the solar generator, but since the house was finished, I decided that tomorrow, I’d throw a welcome party for the three of them.

Lua, Portia, and Lois had never had Japanese food before, so they’d surely enjoy it.

Excited to see their reactions, I headed back to the villa where Sheila was waiting.
