Chapter 43: Pizza

“Good work, everyone. Thanks to you, we finished all the tasks by noon.”

“Huh? We’re done already? Just when I was starting to get the hang of it!”

“Seriously! It was more fun than I expected, and I could still keep working!”

“I was prepared for it to be tough, but it ended up being enjoyable.”

Since we only worked in the morning, the four of them were still full of energy.

I appreciated their enthusiasm to keep working, but without using NP to expand the farm, there was nothing left for them to do.

Spending NP to expand the farm right before winter would be foolish, so there was no reason to continue for today.

“There’s nothing more I need help with, so feel free to take turns showering. In the meantime, I’ll prepare lunch.”

“I still can’t believe we’re actually going to eat Japanese food. It doesn’t feel real yet.”

“Me neither! I might even cry when I taste it!”

Seeing how excited they were, I let them head back inside first while I stayed behind to clean up and decide what to cook.

I could go with omelette rice or doria like before, but making them in large quantities would be a bit of a hassle.

That meant my options were somewhat limited…

“Sato-san, what dish are you planning to make today? Also… may I have some as well?”

“Of course. You’ll be eating with us too, Sheila-san.”

“Thank you! That’s all I’ve been thinking about today!”

“I would never leave you out, so don’t worry. As for today’s dish, I’m planning to make something called pizza. Does it exist in this world?”

“Pizza…? I’ve never heard of it. What kind of dish is it?”

“It’s made by placing sauce, toppings, and cheese on a dough base, then baking it.”

“Oh, that sounds a bit like ‘Bincott.’”

“I don’t know what Bincott is, but it’s probably something similar.”

There were probably pizza-like dishes in this world, and Bincott seemed to be one of them.

However, judging by Sheila’s unenthusiastic expression, Bincott might not be particularly tasty.

“I’m sure the Bincott—no, the pizza you make will be delicious, Sato-san. I’m looking forward to it.”

“It’s one of my favorite dishes, so I’m excited to eat it too.”

We exchanged smiles before finishing up the cleanup and heading to the kitchen.

By the way, I had never actually made pizza before in my life.

However, I had watched plenty of pizza-making videos, so I was confident I could pull it off… probably.

I started by making the dough.

I mixed strong flour, sugar, dry yeast, water, and olive oil in the right amounts.

Then, I added salt and kneaded it thoroughly.

I felt uncertain at first, but as I kept kneading, it started looking more and more like real dough.

Once the kneading was done, I shaped it into a ball and left it to rest at room temperature.

While waiting, I preheated the oven and prepped the toppings.

I kept it simple with just tomatoes, basil, and bacon.

Since the toppings were minimal, I decided to splurge a little on the cheese.

After all, cheese is the soul of a good pizza. By using plenty of mozzarella and Camembert, I figured it would turn out delicious even if other parts weren’t perfect.

By the time I finished prepping the toppings, the dough had rested nicely.

I stretched it into a round pizza shape, keeping the edges slightly thicker.

Then, I spread homemade tomato sauce on top, arranged the toppings, and piled on a generous amount of cheese.

Now, all that was left was to bake it in the oven.

It turned out to be easier than I expected.

Just looking at it, it already seemed incredibly appetizing.

As I placed it in the oven, a delicious aroma began filling the room before long.

The smell of sizzling bacon and melted cheese was mouthwatering.

Careful not to burn it, I took the pizza out at just the right moment.

The gooey melted cheese made it look absolutely irresistible.

There was no way this wouldn’t taste good.

Considering how smoothly everything went, maybe I actually had some talent for cooking.

“The pizza is ready. I’m going to bake another one, so you can start eating.”

“Whoa! This is really pizza! And it looks amazing!”

“Sato, you can even make pizza!? Even if I had the ingredients, I could never do this!”

“Just smelling this is making me emotional. Are we really allowed to eat it?”

“Yes, please go ahead and enjoy.”

“Sato-san, seriously, thank you. I’ll never forget this.”

After expressing their words of gratitude, everyone began eating the pizza all at once.

Yui-san was even shedding tears as she ate, and seeing such an emotional reaction was almost a little intimidating.

But thinking about it rationally, they had been eating mediocre food ever since coming to this world.

It wasn’t an overreaction at all—if I hadn’t been able to eat Japanese food regularly, I probably would have reacted the same way.
