Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 190: The Cat Village
Soon after, Moji called me over with a little beckoning gesture.
It looked just like a maneki-neko—the famous beckoning cat statue—and I couldn’t help but think how adorable it was as I walked over to him.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Sato, and I live together with Moji.”
Just like I had done when I met Mash, I introduced myself politely. The Cat Mages responded with friendly meows.
Their voices were cute, and being surrounded by so many Cat Mages made me feel incredibly happy.
“Although he’s called a ‘familiar,’ I promise he’s never treated cruelly. Please rest assured.”
“Meow~”
Moji meowed in agreement, and the other Cat Mages seemed visibly relieved.
Just like Mash, Moji was clearly loved by everyone in his hometown, and seeing that made me very happy.
After that, our escort Lua-san and Mash—who had already greeted everyone—joined us, and we ended up having what felt like a small tea party.
It turned out that the other Cat Mages could use magic too; they skillfully used fire and water magic to boil water and brewed a special kind of tea for us.
Even from the size and structure of their little village, it was easy to tell that the Cat Mages lived in a way quite similar to humans.
The snacks they offered weren’t exactly delicious, but they had clearly gone out of their way to prepare them.
The tea, though, was genuinely good. So to thank them, I decided to give them something special—something I usually give to Moji.
I opened my tablet and ordered some Churu.
Churu is a type of cat treat, and it’s one of Moji’s absolute favorites.
I was sure the other Cat Mages would love it too, and I wanted to see their reactions.
“This is a gift from me. It’s very tasty, so please try it.”
“Meow!”
Naturally, the first to respond was Moji, who was already a Churu connoisseur.
It wasn’t meant as a present for him, but letting him eat first would show the others it was safe.
So I handed one to Moji.
He deftly tore open the package and began licking away enthusiastically.
The sight was unbearably cute.
Seeing that, the other Cat Mages started imitating him, cautiously at first, then eagerly once they realized how delicious it was.
Soon they were all lapping at Churu in unison.
Lua-san, who had earlier mentioned she was a cat lover, couldn’t stop smiling at the sight.
“I’m glad they liked it. I’ll leave a box here, so please enjoy it whenever you want.”
It was such a heartwarming scene. I was truly glad Mash and Moji had brought us here to their homeland.
When we first entered the forest, I’d been nervous about what we might find, but it turned out to be absolutely worth it.
“I’ll tell Moji too, but you’re free to stay here if you want. Even as a familiar, I’d never force you to work against your will.”
“Meow~”
Moji shook his head and meowed to say he wouldn’t be staying behind.
The other Cat Mages respected his decision and meowed supportively, wishing him well.
“Thank you, Moji. I’ll be counting on you from now on too.”
“Meow!”
“Well then, it’s a short visit, but let’s head back to the villa. Ash is waiting, and it’ll be dangerous if it gets dark.”
I would’ve liked to let Moji stay for a few days, but since Ash was waiting for us, we couldn’t linger.
Once night fell, we wouldn’t be able to travel safely by carriage, so we had to leave soon.
“I kind of wish we could’ve stayed a little longer,”
Lua-san sighed.
“Next time Moji and Mash visit their home villages, let’s come along together.”
I suggested.
“Yes, please do.”
She said, her eyes lighting up.
It was funny—out of all of us, Lua-san looked the saddest about leaving.
Moji, on the other hand, seemed perfectly content and was saying goodbye to the other Cat Mages.
“We’ll come visit again soon! And you’re welcome to come see us anytime as well.”
“Meow!”
The Cat Mages gave us parting gifts—some kind of fruit.
I wasn’t sure what it was, but it might turn out to be something quite special.
I gratefully accepted it and decided to have Norman check it out later.
With many Cat Mages waving and meowing behind us, we left Moji’s hometown.
“It really was a wonderful place,”
Lua-san said warmly.
“Mash’s friends were cute, but Moji’s friends were just as adorable.”
“I agree. And I’m glad both Mash and Moji were so warmly accepted. I’d have felt terrible if becoming my familiars had made them outcasts.”
“True enough. We were attacked by plenty of monsters in the forest—it wouldn’t have been surprising if things had gone badly. But they’re not just cute—they’re loyal and kind. It really warmed my heart.”
“Meow~”
Mash and Moji nodded proudly at Lua-san’s words.
At first, I hadn’t even known where the two of them were headed, but the experience turned out to be truly wonderful.
I definitely wanted to come back soon—next time, with proper gifts in hand.
With those thoughts in mind, we left the forest behind and returned to the villa.
