Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 185: Making Up

I wasn’t sure how much Yato-san had told her.
Maybe she had told her everything—or, knowing Yato-san, perhaps nothing at all.

“First of all… how did you meet Lady Yato? She was singing your praises for some reason, but I can’t really see what’s so charming about you, Sato.”

“I agree with that, so I don’t know why she praised me so much either. As for how we met—she collapsed from hunger, and one of my familiars helped her. After that, she seemed to like this place and started visiting often.”

“I see. So Lady Yato grew attached to you because you saved her.”

“Probably. She also really likes the food here.”

So, as I suspected, Yato-san hadn’t explained anything.
From Isabella’s perspective, it must seem strange that a famous dragon like Yato would be friendly with an ordinary middle-aged man.

“By the way, your familiars… I’ve been wondering since I arrived. The black bird flying in the sky, that grey lizard creature, the oddly colored slime, and even the goblins—are they all your familiars?”

“Yes, they’re all mine. You may have heard already, but I’m actually from another world, and I possess a special skill. Thanks to that skill, I can do all sorts of unusual things.”

“…That’s the first I’ve heard of it. Lady Yato didn’t say a word and just brought me here. Well, if you’re from another world, I suppose it makes sense that she likes you. You’re… a bit strange, after all.”

“Am I? I think I’m pretty normal.”

“Normal people don’t get excited by ears, you know.”

I had no comeback for that.
Still, I’m sure any fantasy enthusiast would be thrilled in my position.

While I was thinking that, Yato-san seemed to have calmed down and returned with Sheila-san. Isabella looked composed now too, so things should be fine.

“Yato-san, Isabella-san, please get along while you’re here. No fighting, okay?”

“Unu! I’ve calmed down now, so it’s fine! Isabella, forgive me!”

“I should be the one apologizing. I teased Lady Yato too much.”

After a friendly handshake, peace was restored.
That was a relief—after all, I wanted them to get along.

“Thank you for making up. By the way, Isabella-san, I heard a few things from you earlier, but did you have some particular reason for coming here today? Or were you just visiting for fun?”

“Isabella wanted to show this place to Rose, who has never left the country even once!”

“Right, she’s the high elf princess, isn’t she? You mean you plan to bring her here?”

“It’s not decided yet. But… Sato, you may be plain, but you seem like a good person. This might be a suitable first outing for her.”

So maybe Isabella’s attitude earlier was meant to test me.
If I had lost my temper, she probably would have judged this place unfit for Rose’s visit. That explanation fits perfectly.

Even though I’d just met Isabella, I could tell she genuinely cared about Rose.
Though, I doubt she expected Yato-san to get angry on my behalf.

“In any case, everyone is welcome here anytime. Please do bring her—I’d love to meet Rose-san.”

“Rose is shy! She might not say a single word!”

“Is that so? Then she might enjoy it here even more.”

After all, I had plenty of solo entertainment—manga, games, and the like.
Isabella didn’t seem to understand what I meant, though, and tilted her head.

“I don’t quite get what you mean, but I appreciate the invitation. If I do bring her, I’ll be counting on you.”

“Of course. So, how about we hold a little welcome party for you today, Isabella-san? The way we treat you might decide whether Rose-san visits or not, right?”

“That’s true, but… I don’t really need a welcome party. I brought plenty of supplies from the elf kingdom, so just lending me a place to sleep is enough.”

“What are you saying, Isabella! Sato is kindly offering a welcome party! …There’ll be delicious food, right?”

“Of course. I’ll cook up some special dishes from another world.”

“I only eat food from the elf kingdom—”

“Silence, Isabella! Just eat Sato’s food and be amazed! You’ll be blown away, I promise!”

Isabella didn’t seem very eager, but Yato-san insisted, and so the welcome party was decided.
Personally, I thought it wasn’t necessary if she really didn’t want it…

Still, the more reluctant she was, the stronger my desire to show her how good Japanese cuisine could be.
With that motivation, I decided to enlist Norman-san’s help and prepare a full-scale isekai banquet.

Fired up with determination, I headed straight for Norman-san’s place.
