Chapter 176: Magic Tools

A week had already passed since the mock tournament.

Since it was right after a festival, the atmosphere had been unusually laid-back and fluffy, but now that mood had begun to settle down.

I had planned to focus on farming for a while… but just earlier, Page came by to let me know that the magic tools I had requested were finally complete.

If the magic tools were finished, of course I wanted to see them as soon as possible. So I decided to head over to Rozzo’s place to check them out.

“Rozzo-san, I came after hearing from Page.”

“Oi! Get in here quick! The magic tools are ready!”

With his permission, I stepped inside Rozzo’s house.

It had been a while since I last entered, but the place looked completely different.

Tools and materials with a strong artisan feel were lined up everywhere, and in the living room several magic tools were neatly arranged.

I had assumed it would just be the underwater breathing tool, but among them were several devices whose functions I couldn’t even guess at by sight.

“These are the tools I requested? There’s quite a variety here.”

“Yeah! You only asked for the underwater breathing tool, but if you’re planning to hunt aquatic monsters, I figured you’d need more than just that. So I ordered extra! Of course, that’s why it took longer to make, though!”

“I see… So what kinds of tools are these?”

There were four magic tools in total. Other than the helmet, which was clearly the underwater breathing device, I had no idea what the others were for.

I decided to ask one by one.

“This black fin-like thing is a tool for underwater movement! Lets you swim faster underwater! And this here is a weapon for underwater combat! One-touch and a blade shoots out from the tip, and pressing the other button lets you retract it at high speed!”

They were even more useful than I had imagined.

With these tools, it looked like we could actually fight freely underwater.

“And lastly, this one is an escape tool! Different from the swimming tool, this one lets you move at super-high speeds. It’s not just for combat, but also as insurance in case the other tools fail!”

“These are all amazing. I hadn’t even thought about an escape tool, but after hearing your explanation, I realize it’s absolutely essential.”

“Right? With these, you’ll definitely make it back alive!”

“Thank you so much! I’ll take good care of them.”

With this, the risk of losing lives had become vanishingly small.

Once they’d tested the tools a few times, we could finally begin hunting aquatic monsters for real.

“Of course! And this time, I’ll cover the cost myself! …Well, in return, though…”

“New DVDs, right? Of course, I’ll send you some.”

“For real!? Thanks! Feels like all the effort I put into designing these was worth it!”

Rozzo celebrated with a fist pump.

I’d been giving him new DVDs regularly as gifts, though he’d been using the same DVD player I’d given him back when Sid built his house.

So far it seemed to be working fine, but maybe it was time to gift him a new one.

This time, instead of just a built-in monitor type, I wanted to prepare a proper set—generator, DVD player, and monitor all together.

Both Rozzo and Sid had helped me out so much; a gift like that still wouldn’t be enough to repay them.

And now that I had some extra NP to spare, I definitely planned to do it soon.

“You and Sid have built so many things for me already. A gift like that is the least I can do.”

“Man, I’m really glad I stuck with you, Sato-san! It’s just plain fun, and the rewards are insane! I’ll be counting on you!”

“And I’ll be counting on you too. I’ll definitely be asking you for more things in the future.”

“Hell yeah! And don’t forget—I’m looking forward to those DVDs! …The extra spicy kind, got it?”

“Leave it to me. I’ll make sure to pick out ones that hit the mark for both you and Sid.”

We shook hands, and that concluded the explanation about the magic tools.

Now all that was left was to deliver them to Lua, Brittany, and Joel.

I’d already explained in advance that I wanted them to hunt aquatic monsters, and they had all readily agreed.

I didn’t know when they’d be ready to act, but I was really looking forward to the day they could go out as gourmet hunters.

Just the thought of discovering unknown ingredients was exciting—and if they came from monsters, even more so.

There was no doubt some truly delicious ingredients were waiting to be found.

If possible, I wanted not only Japanese ingredients, but also tasty monster ingredients to become specialties of this village.
