Chapter 154: The Cute Signboard
I had intended to just leave a message when I went to the royal capital, but Velvet-san seemed to have some free time and readily agreed to my request with no hesitation.
I don’t really understand the difference between “manga is not allowed” but “illustrations are OK,” but I was incredibly grateful that she accepted.
Velvet-san rode back in Ash’s carriage and, at the villa, she drew an illustration on the signboard prepared by Sid-san.
I already knew Velvet-san could draw since I’ve seen her manga work, but Sheila-san and the others were completely shocked.
After receiving lots of praise and looking very pleased with herself, I gave Velvet-san a thank-you gift—some sweets and the continuation of her favorite manga—and sent her back to the capital.
By the time I returned to the villa, the sun had already set, so the first day of farming ended with just signboard-making.
The Next Day
As soon as I checked the finished signboard, I saw a cute, stylized drawing of a monster that gave off a great impression.
It’s visible from afar, and with such a cute and easy-to-understand design, it shouldn’t put anyone on guard at first glance.
“It’s hard to believe this was made in just one day. I didn’t know Velvet-sama could draw.”
“She’s really good, right? When we start running the resort officially, I’d love to ask her to help with a lot of things.”
“Sounds great. I think she’d be willing too.”
While chatting like that, we began farm work.
My current task is training the new goblin squad.
Moji, Helena, and Thread—who works at night—have been doing land clearing, and the field is gradually expanding.
Since we’re not harvesting yet, everyone else is working on planting seedlings and watering them.
My goal now is to get the goblin squad ready to work by the time land clearing is complete.
Outside of farming, Sid-san and Rozzo-san are constructing the event hall.
Some of Sid-san’s former employees seem to be moving here as well, which should allow construction to progress faster soon.
Georges-san is still brewing alcohol as usual.
The drinks he served at the Christmas party were so good that now he’s experimenting to create something suitable for sale.
Well, even if he doesn’t sell it, with so many heavy drinkers here, we might go through it all ourselves—but I do hope it becomes one of the local specialties, so for now he’s working toward commercializing it.
Crow continues to patrol the area as usual.
When Ash has no specific work, he lounges around with Lime and his crew.
Lime and the others may not look like they’re working, but they handle waste disposal, which is actually super helpful.
Our numbers have increased, but everything is running smoothly. Once the goblin squad can be put into action, we’ll all be able to take breaks more easily.
Everyone has over 3,000 NP, so aside from Marshal, they all learn quickly. I think they’ll be ready for work in 3 or 4 days.
“Sato, got a minute?”
While I was thinking about all this and training the goblin squad, Brittany-san approached me.
By the way, she’s been helping Sid-san with construction and is doing great with the heavy lifting.
“Brittany-san, is something wrong?”
“No, I just wanted to talk about the upcoming schedule. Once the goblins you’re training are ready to work, I was thinking of heading out on another adventure. Would that be alright?”
“Of course! Thank you for adjusting your timing for us.”
“No need to thank me. Since the fields are expanding, I figured you might need me longer if things got tight.”
“We should be fine on that front. Once the land clearing is finished, Helena and the others will be able to work in the fields, and by that time the goblin squad should also be ready.”
Harvesting will probably begin around the same time, but we should still have plenty of hands.
Joel-kun and Lua-san were always working in a way that they could step away at any time anyway.
“That so? That’s a relief. In that case, we’ll go on our adventure without worry.”
“Yes, I’m looking forward to hearing about your results.”
“Yeah, I’ll bring back a fun story or two—count on it.”
I saw Brittany-san off in high spirits.
Looking at the schedule, I think the moment Brittany-san and the others return from their adventure, the Gourmet Hunter will arrive.
The upcoming schedule is:
- Train the goblin squad
- Take a day off and visit the town of Lanzole
- Hear the Gourmet Hunter’s story
That’s the general plan.
I wanted this third year to be fulfilling—and it looks like it’s going to be exciting right from the start. I can’t help but feel thrilled!
