Chapter 141: Cup Noodles

Even when it comes to cup noodles, there are all kinds of varieties.

The classic choice is of course the standard Cup Noodle, but I honestly question whether everyone would find it delicious.

Personally, it’s my favorite kind of instant noodle, and the nostalgia definitely adds to its appeal—I’ve been craving it since a week ago.
But I also know very well that liking something and finding it delicious are two different things.

For someone eating cup noodles for the first time, something like Raoh, with its fresh-style noodles, might be more palatable.
I also liked Donbei’s soba and udon, and UFO’s yakisoba too.

I can handle spicy food, so I loved the Mouko Tanmen cup noodles as well as Ippudo’s tonkotsu ramen.
With so many choices, the more I think about it, the harder it is to pick one.

Come to think of it, all the types I just mentioned are made by Nissin. That’s kind of amazing.

With this many options, I could easily give everyone a different type… but it might spark some arguments.
So I figured I’d keep things simple and stick to the standard Cup Noodle this time.

I decided to go with the three classic flavours: Soy Sauce, Seafood, and Curry.

Personally, I also like Chili Tomato, Tom Yum, and Miso flavours, but when it comes to the Cup Noodle, those three are the staples.

Eating cup noodles after swimming in a pool or the ocean was always the best—
With those memories in mind, I bought enough of the three types for everyone.

“Oh! Cup Noodle! That’s so nostalgic! I have to have Seafood!”

“I’m going for Curry!”

“Soy Sauce is the best, hands down.”

“I’m more of a Chili Tomato fan, but out of these, I’ll stick with Soy Sauce.”

As soon as I brought out the Cup Noodles, Ren and the others reacted instantly.

Even just among the four of them, the variety in preferences was clear—it really depends on the person.

“Is this something everyone knows from your world?”

“In the country we lived in, it wouldn’t be strange for literally everyone to know about it. I think you’ll really enjoy it.”

“I can’t wait! So, how do we cook it?”

“You just pour in hot water and wait. I already prepared the hot water, so we’ll be able to eat in three minutes.”

“You just pour in hot water…?”

“That sounds like lazy cooking!”

Everyone looked a bit skeptical at my explanation.

Which makes sense—cooking that only involves pouring hot water doesn’t really sound like real cooking, after all.

“Don’t worry. At the very least, I think this will be the tastiest thing you’ve eaten in this dungeon town so far.”

“Exactly! Sure, it’s lazy from a cooking standpoint, but the flavour’s perfectly balanced!”

“This world doesn’t have cup noodles, so it’s no surprise they’re skeptical if they’ve never even heard of the concept.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s reactions—just hot water, and voilà, a full meal!”

“Mmm… I’m jealous that only you guys know about this stuff.”

While the group of us who came from another world were getting all excited, Sheila pouted slightly, puffing out her cheeks in mock sulking.

Smiling at her expression, I went ahead and poured hot water into everyone’s cup noodles.

“So now we just wait three minutes?”

“But wow, it already smells amazing!”

“Some people eat it after two minutes, but the official way is to wait the full three.”

I also prefer firmer noodles, so when I’m alone, I usually eat them a little early.
But since we’re all together today, I waited the full three minutes like you’re supposed to.

“It’s been three minutes. You can dig in now.”

“Let’s eat together, everyone!”

“““Itadakimaaaasu!”””

With Yato’s energetic signal, everyone clapped their hands together and gave the pre-meal greeting before digging into the cup noodles.

Realistically speaking, home-cooked meals should taste better—
But man, Cup Noodle after all this time tastes absolutely amazing!

“It’s delicious! I thought it might taste like spaghetti or somen, but this is something completely different!”

“This really is curry flavour! To think you can make this just by adding hot water—Sato’s world is amazing!”

“It’s truly tasty. The quality is surprisingly high.”

“I still prefer Sato-san’s cooking, but for something you make with just hot water, it’s amazing! Easily the best food I’ve had in dungeon town!”

“Joel’s totally right. If cup noodles were one of the dungeon’s treasures, I’d be way more motivated to grind through it.”

It seemed to be a hit across the board—everyone was showering it with praise.

Meanwhile, those of us from another world were too overwhelmed with nostalgia to even speak, just quietly slurping away.

Since I can’t do any real cooking in this world, cup noodles were a compromise.
But still—this good? It was genuinely moving.

The only real downside is that each one costs 30 NP, which is pretty steep.
Still, if I treat it as a once-a-week treat, even for the whole group, it would only come out to just under 4,000 NP for two months.

Considering how much NP I’ve saved up, I could probably increase the frequency.
Cup noodles might just become the highlight of our dungeon-crawling routine.

With so many flavours to choose from, next time I think I’ll bring something other than the standard Cup Noodle.

With those thoughts in mind, I savoured every bite of my long-awaited cup noodle.
