Chapter 140: Seating Arrangement

It’s been a week since we arrived at the dungeon.

We’ve been diving into the dungeon every day, but so far, not a single person has been injured. Judging by our pace, everything is going smoothly.

Yesterday, we successfully conquered the 19th floor, and today, we even managed to defeat the floor boss on the 20th floor.

The boss was a monster called the Gold Orc, a golden-haired version of the classic fantasy orc.

Orcs are iconic in fantasy worlds, but this was my first time seeing one here.
According to Sheila, the regular orc species is slightly smaller but looks quite similar.

The fur color wasn’t all that clear inside the dungeon, so the difference didn’t seem too big.
Even though it was a bit intimidating that it wielded a long spear, our team was just too strong—
We were able to defeat it almost as quickly as we did the Minotaur on the 10th floor.

Our goal for this winter dungeon expedition was to reach the 20th floor, but to think we achieved it in just one week—it was a pleasant surprise, to say the least.

Time-wise, we still have room to dive deeper, so I’ll be reassessing our goals soon.

And today, just as promised, we’re all getting together to eat cup noodles.

Since the first day, everyone’s dungeon schedules have varied, and we haven’t had any group meals.
Looking forward to hearing how the other parties have been doing, I headed to Ren’s inn, which we designated as our meeting place.

“This inn looked big from the outside, but it’s really spacious inside too.”

“It’s the biggest inn in the dungeon town. As heroes, I’m sure they’re earning plenty of money, so they can afford it.”

“Master! I want us to stay here someday too!”

Honestly, I’d like that too. But even after reaching the 20th floor, if we stayed here, we’d barely break even financially.

No—maybe we’d earn a little profit, but just a little isn’t worth the dungeon effort.

Since our main goal is to earn currency in this world, we’re sticking with the cost-efficient inn we’ve been using.

“Yeah, staying here would be a bit difficult for us… Oh, looks like we’re the last to arrive.”

We reached the room Ren had told us about beforehand, and everyone else was already gathered.
Apparently, they’d reserved the dining hall, and we could see them chatting happily inside.

“Ah! It’s Sato!”

“You’re sooo slow! We’ve been waiting forever!”

I don’t know if it’s animal instincts or what, but as usual, Yato was the first to notice me.
Then Mika joined in, and I entered the hall, apologizing.

“Sorry. But technically, I’m not late…”

“You’re not late, but we’ve still been waiting forever! Now hurry and sit!”

There were empty seats between Yato and Mika, and they were calling me to sit there.
But before I could, Helena sat down in one of them.

“Why is Helena sitting there?! That’s Sato’s seat!”

“Exactly! Helena, you sit over there!”

“Master will sit somewhere else.”

Helena replied calmly, while Yato and Mika continued their protests.
I was hoping Sheila might intervene, but she just gave a thumbs-up—so I pretended not to see and sat in one of the empty seats elsewhere.

I ended up sitting between Brittany and Joel.
Sheila sat beside Portia and Lua. For now, the seating arrangement was settled.

“Hmph. You’re pretty popular, Sato. Though you don’t really seem like the type to be liked.”

“Really? I moved in because I liked Sato’s personality!”

“Well, I like Sato’s character too.”

“Thank you. I like both you and Joel as well, Brittany.”

It made me happy to hear such kind words from Brittany and Joel.
As the three of us exchanged compliments in a relaxed mood, I felt a sudden gaze and turned to see…

Yato, Mika—and for some reason, even Helena—were glaring at me with deadpan eyes.

I could understand Yato and Mika, but Helena? That one was beyond me.

Anyway, I decided to completely ignore their stares… and moved on to the cup noodle preparations.
