Chapter 135: Party Formation:
First off, the party of Lua, Joel, and Brittany was a lock.
They’re strong in terms of combat, and since they’re usually teamed up, there’s no need to break that group apart.
The real discussion came down to whether Portia and Royce should join that party.
Personally, I thought a five-member party would be best, and that those five would make the ideal team, but…
“Would it be alright if Royce and I formed a separate party?”
“Of course, that’s fine. But are you sure you don’t want to team up with Lua?”
“Yes. I want to try entering the dungeon without relying on her this time. I’d like to go with your familiars, Satou-san.”
Though Lua looked a bit lonely at that comment, someone else boldly stepped forward—Mash.
“Mash, are you going with Portia and the others?”
Mash nodded firmly at my question.
It felt a little sad, like Mash had decided not to come with me… but then Mash pointed to Sheila, Helena, and Yato, indicating that my party was already full.
“I see. So you’re stepping aside for others. You joined the expedition last year, so I imagine you’ll be acting as a leader—good luck.”
Mash nodded again and headed over to Portia and Royce. Moge followed suit, finalizing Portia’s party with four members.
As for Lua’s group, it seemed Rozzo would be joining them.
Brittany was objecting with all her might, but that group was essentially confirmed too.
“That leaves the rest of us. How should we split up?”
“I definitely want to go with Satou-san.”
“Me too! I want to be with Master!”
“Me as well!”
Three of them immediately raised their hands. Even Lime was hopping excitedly to show they wanted to be in my party.
Despite me being the weak link, they still wanted to team up with me—which made me really happy.
“I’m fine with anyone as long as I’m in the same party as Milady.”
“That would make it: me, Sheila, Helena, Yato, Ashros, and Lime. That’s… too many.”
Dungeon parties should be limited to five people at most.
And frankly, this group is overpowered, so it would be best to split us in half.
“Let’s go with two teams of three. That would be best.”
“Is there anyone who’s okay being in a different party than me?”
No one raised their hand.
It made me happy—but also left me stuck.
“Alright then. Let’s settle it fairly with rock-paper-scissors.”
“Huh!? I have to join in too!?”
“Yes, Sheila. We’ll do it fair and square.”
“Ooh, sounds fun!”
Discussion wouldn’t get us anywhere, so I decided to leave it to chance with good old rock-paper-scissors.
That way, there’d be no complaints.
“Okay, here we go… Rock, paper—GO!”
Everyone threw out their hands.
Only Lime expressed their choice with their body—but in the end, Sheila, Helena, and I showed rock.
Yato, Ashros, and Lime showed paper.
It got decided in a single round, which was nice. And Yato got paired with Ashros, which was probably for the best.
Also, Lime’s “paper” gesture was absolutely adorable.
“Alright, so it’s me, Sheila, and Helena. Then Yato, Ashros, and Lime form the other team.”
“Yay! I’m so glad! If I wasn’t with you, Satou-san, I probably couldn’t focus on dungeon crawling.”
“Master and I are bound by the red string of fate!”
“Nooo! I’m not in Satou’s party this time!”
“Dungeon exploration is fun no matter who you’re with. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.”
Yato looked like she was about to cry, but that’s just how it worked out.
Later, Shirei and Porter joined Yato’s party, and Thread joined ours.
That seemed to balance the teams well.
At the very least, all parties should have no problem clearing the first ten floors of the dungeon.
“We’ll stay behind. I’ll help the old man make booze while we wait.”
“Sid-san, thanks for holding down the fort.”
With Sid staying behind, there was nothing to worry about.
The ones remaining were Sid, George, Crow, Ash, and the goblin unit (excluding Shirei and Porter).
Surprisingly, the stay-behind group was quite large, so I want to find something useful for them to do during winter.
I couldn’t think of anything off the top of my head, so I’ll plan something before winter arrives.
For now, the party assignments were complete.
All that’s left is to wait for winter and then dive into the dungeon.
Even though I was dreading the winter season, now that everything’s decided, I’m kind of looking forward to it.
Everyone else seemed excited too, so choosing teams around the campfire turned out to be the perfect idea.
“Satou-san, are the baked sweet potatoes ready yet?”
“Ah, yes, they should be done. Let’s eat together.”
“Yay! Baked sweet potatoes!”
And just like that, the sweet potatoes were done.
This became both a team-building event and a baked sweet potato party.
Everything went smoothly, and personally, I think this autumn event was a big success.
