Chapter 133: A Great Success:

After that, I served the same dishes to Yato and the others, who had followed the scent, and that night, both Kurikara-san and Tia-san decided to stay over.

With more people than usual, we passed the time playing games and reading manga, and before we knew it, the day was over.

“They say seeing is believing, and it’s true. I suspected Yato might have been deceived, but spending this day here cleared up my misunderstanding.”

“I’m glad the misunderstanding was resolved. I had a great time with you and Tia-san, so please feel free to visit again anytime.”

“Indeed. The food was delicious, and the manga and games were enjoyable. I’ll definitely visit again. If there’s ever anything you want from me, just say the word. You’ve treated me well today, and you’ve been good to Yato, so I’ll basically do anything.”

“There’s really nothing I need, so don’t worry about it. The main reason I spend time with Yato is because I enjoy it.”

“Indeed! Satou and I are friends, after all!”

Yato quickly accepted that, but Kurikara-san didn’t seem convinced.

Yato had also brought a weird gemstone when we first met—maybe dragons feel they must repay others in some way.

“…No, let me think of a proper gift as thanks another time.”

“Really, you don’t have to. Your husband caused quite a bit of trouble, and after tasting that meal, we simply can’t leave without returning the favor.”

“No no, I truly don’t need anything!”

“Satou, you’re a strange human indeed… Very well. I’ll find something that you do want. Just wait and see.”

“If that’s the case… I’ll look forward to it. But just know—I won’t accept anything unless it’s something I genuinely want.”

“That’s fine. Hahaha! I haven’t felt this fired up in ages. I’ll definitely find something you’ll want badly.”

Kurikara-san suddenly became fired up with a strange competitive spirit.

Hopefully this doesn’t go in a weird direction, but at least I managed to get a promise that I won’t be forced to accept anything I don’t want.

So, after seeing Kurikara-san and Tia-san off in their dragon forms, I let out a long sigh of relief.

Their visit had been sudden, but I think I handled it well.

“To be liked by Father and Mother like that—Satou, you’re amazing!”

“They liked me—are you sure? Either way, I’m exhausted.”

“Father can be quite selfish. Thank you for doing your best for me, Satou!”

“I didn’t do it for your sake. I just wanted you to be able to visit again, so I did my best. Besides, I was just nervous for no reason—your parents were actually quite nice.”

“For Satou-san to call Tia-sama and Kurikara-sama ‘nice’—that’s truly something. I was terrified I might get beaten within an inch of my life… and yet, here you are, building a friendly relationship with them. I’m in awe.”

I started to get nervous after hearing Ashros-san say that. Still, even if I had messed up, I doubt I’d have been beaten half to death.

Kurikara-san didn’t seem that scary.

“Indeed. Me too! If you make Mother angry, there’s no telling what she’ll do!”

“Yes, even recently, Kurikara-sama upset her, and it was quite the ordeal.”

“…Wait, are you saying the truly scary one is Tia-san?”

“Yes. While she’s usually calm and gentle, she becomes terrifying when angered.”

“When Mother gets mad, it’s horrifying! I’ve made her angry once, and I still have nightmares about it!”

I’d figured Tia-san was the one holding Kurikara-san’s reins, but it turns out she’s stronger even in a physical sense.

I absolutely must never anger Tia-san.

“I’ll be sure to stay on her good side.”

“Don’t worry, she doesn’t anger easily. Besides, she’s taken a liking to you, Satou-san.”

“If you say so… but I’m still a bit anxious.”

“It’s fine! Anyway, now I can visit more often! I’ll probably come by more frequently, so take care of me, okay?”
“You’re always welcome. And I’ll be counting on your help around here too.”

“Of course! I love working in the fields—it’s fun! I won’t lose to the newcomers!”

With that declaration, Yato shot a glare at the goblin team.

She apparently saw them as rivals. And in terms of work speed, they were evenly matched.

They still couldn’t beat Shirei, but I hoped the others wouldn’t lose to her either.

“My rival is Helena-san. Her magic is incredible, so I’ll work hard to not fall behind.”

Looks like Ashros-san saw Helena as his rival.

With Helena’s powerful magic, it seemed like a hopeless matchup, but Ashros’s work ethic was nothing to sneeze at either.

They might end up becoming good rivals too.

Though the idea of farming rivals still feels a bit odd, as long as they’re enjoying themselves, that’s what matters.

One hurdle down, and life can return to peaceful days again.

I’ll continue building friendly relations with Kurikara-san and Tia-san, and do my best to keep improving things here.
