Chapter 102: Carl’s Squad Attacks!
Alexis knew that his defense was the team’s first line of barrier, a shield that could never allow the Nature Guardian to break through. Every motion, every stance, carried the weight of responsibility, for if he faltered, everything could collapse.
Behind him, Shirley stood with her hands raised high, her soft voice weaving the incantations of her buffing spells. Radiance shimmered around her like a brilliant star suspended in the sky. As her magic unfolded, a warm, golden light spilled over the team, enhancing both their offensive strength and defensive resilience.
“May the power of light guide you! Courage be upon you! Holy Light, protect us!” Shirley’s voice was like a gentle spring morning breeze—soft, comforting, yet imbued with unwavering determination. Her enhancement magic acted like a protective membrane, enveloping each teammate, lifting their spirits and fortifying their bodies, granting them renewed strength in the heat of battle.
Meanwhile, Dilia moved nimbly along the battlefield, her hands deftly handling vials of all kinds of potions. Intelligence sparkled in her eyes as she assessed the flow of combat with lightning speed. She knew the Wind Speaker circling overhead was a formidable threat and required immediate suppression.
“Come on, give me an explosion!” Dilia shouted, flinging a vial that shimmered with an eerie blue glow. It arced through the air, striking the target with deadly precision. Upon impact, the potion erupted into a thick frost mist, freezing the surrounding air instantly and slowing the Wind Speaker’s movements, forcing it into momentary hesitation.
At the front of the formation, Carl stood as the inheritor of the Sword Saint’s legacy. His blade gleamed coldly under the sun, runes etched along its edge faintly glowing with mystical light. He inhaled deeply, recalling the countless hours of swordsmanship training he had endured, his eyes igniting with resolve.
“I will find the opening to strike the Nature Guardian and the Wind Speaker!” Carl declared with steadfast determination, his gaze piercing forward like a sharpened blade. He knew that only under Alexis’s vigilant defense could the perfect opportunity for attack emerge.
With Shirley’s buffing magic in full effect, Alexis’s defense hardened further, and Carl’s attacks gained deadly precision. The massive silhouette of the Nature Guardian loomed ahead, swaying with formidable might. Carl adjusted his stance quickly, preparing to exploit the brief openings between its attacks.
“Now!” Alexis bellowed, raising his shield to intercept another blow from the Nature Guardian. Using the force of the strike, he stepped back strategically, creating the precise window Carl needed to strike.
Carl seized the moment, charging forward in a fluid motion. His sword sliced through the air in a flawless arc, aimed directly at the Guardian’s vulnerable points. His technique was meteoric in its speed, each strike carrying unparalleled power.
“Wind Blade!” he roared under his breath. Gusts of swirling wind erupted from his blade, colliding with the Nature Guardian’s bulk with a deafening crash. The force drove the creature backward, its massive form leaving deep gouges in the earth.
Above, the Wind Speaker was far from passive. It flapped its enormous wings, emitting a piercing shriek, attempting to tear Carl’s attack apart with violent gusts. Dilia reacted instantly, hurling another vial. It exploded into roaring flames in front of the creature, halting its onslaught and forcing it to reconsider its advance.
“Holy Light, hear my prayer. Bless the lost lambs, and grant us victory.” Shirley planted her staff firmly into the ground, gathering the radiant light once more. Waves of purifying holy energy swept across the battlefield, dispelling darkness and granting Carl and Alexis precious space to maneuver.
In this fierce clash, the four of them moved in perfect synchrony. Their coordinated efforts began to suppress both the Nature Guardian and the Wind Speaker. Carl’s sword was as swift as lightning, Alexis’s shield unyielding as stone, Shirley’s enchantments amplifying their power, and Dilia’s potions effectively weakening the enemies’ attacks.
The Nature Guardian, restrained and frustrated, let out an enraged roar, causing the very air around it to tremble. Its colossal body convulsed violently, sending shards of earth and jagged spikes surging toward Carl and his teammates.
“Dodge!” Alexis shouted, lifting his shield just in time to block one of the spears. Another shot came hurtling toward Carl. He reacted instinctively, dodging with a swift sidestep, but the spike grazed his arm, searing pain shooting through him as blood trickled down.
Grimacing, Carl rolled across the ground, quickly readjusting his stance, readying himself for another counterattack.
High above, the Wind Speaker spiraled menacingly, wings cutting the air with a shrill scream. It conjured a whirlwind, laced with countless razor-sharp wind blades, aiming to shred Shirley and Dilia apart.
“Holy Light Shield!” Shirley had anticipated this, her staff conjuring a luminous barrier to block the onslaught. The barrier shimmered under the assault of wind blades, flickering perilously under the immense pressure of the attack.
“The Holy Light Shield is breaking!” Shirley exclaimed urgently. She knew that without a timely counter, they would be trapped in a deadly predicament.
“Don’t worry! I’ve got this!” Dilia responded with quick resolve. She pulled a vial glowing green from her belt and hurled it at the Wind Speaker. The potion burst midair into a thick, aromatic mist, slowing the ferocious winds and weakening the cutting force of its blades.
Shirley exhaled in relief, refocusing on her healing magic. Her palms glowed with gentle, warm light as she brushed over Carl and Alexis’s wounds. The holy energy felt like a spring breeze, soothing and rapid, knitting their injuries back together.
“Thank you, Shirley,” Carl said sincerely, gratitude etched across his face. He knew that only by working together could they hope to overcome the corrupted Nature Guardian and Wind Speaker.
“We must find our counterattack!” Alexis gripped his shield tightly, determination blazing in his eyes. “Maintain the defense and wait for Carl’s strike!”
At that very moment, Shirley’s barrier shimmered, holding off the Wind Speaker’s final wave. Though powerful, the effort was beginning to take its toll on her.
Standing tall, she raised her staff, and radiant orbs of light gathered around it like miniature suns. Chanting the final words of her spell, she pointed toward the Wind Speaker.
“Holy Light Missile!” Her voice was like the first rays of morning, clear and commanding. The radiant orbs streaked gracefully through the air toward the circling enemy, forcing it to alter its flight path in a desperate attempt to evade the sudden attack.
“You’ve been chirping and screeching long enough—time to teach you a lesson,” Dilia muttered. She unleashed a torrent of green potion onto the ground. Seeds planted across the battlefield sprang to life under the magical elixir, rapidly twisting into thick, serpentine vines that surged toward the Wind Speaker. The growth was so swift and overwhelming that the creature could barely react, its wings ensnared by the entwining tendrils, leaving it clumsy and hindered.
