Chapter 314: Dragon Palace Grudges, Part 2
Speaking of Li Xian— After the lightning struck, Li Xian only felt a flash before his eyes, and then he found himself in a place filled with rolling white clouds. This world was very familiar to him, though he hadn’t visited in a long time. It was his consciousness space—a mysterious place Li Xian found strange, expectant, and wary of.
It was here that he had obtained the Four Symbols Lightning Formation, and the secret of how spirit stones are formed. Half of Anyang’s current success could be attributed to Li Xian’s “daydreams.” But facing such inexplicable benefits, Li Xian remained very cautious.
Ever since the last dream in which he saw the origin of spirit stones, he had tried many times to re-enter this consciousness space but failed. Not even during his breakthrough to the Nascent Soul stage had he been able to return. Unexpectedly, this time he entered this strange and inexplicable space again.
Standing in the world of rolling clouds, Li Xian looked around, unsure which direction to take. After a moment’s thought, he didn’t dare waste time. Trusting his intuition, he walked forward. Regardless of what lay ahead, time could not be squandered; the time spent in the consciousness space was always limited.
Advancing through the swirling cloud world, Li Xian could not distinguish east from west, north from south, front from back—he simply pressed forward with determination. Time passed, second by second, yet Li Xian discovered nothing. Just when disappointment began to creep in, everything suddenly blurred, and he entered another strange space.
This was a world of lightning—nothing but lightning, everywhere. Li Xian stood at the center, surrounded by all kinds of lightning. There were bolts of varying size and thickness, and more unusually, lightning of many different colors—red, white, pink, orange-yellow, blue, bluish-white, purple, even black, and some with a swirl of three colors. Some lightning flew horizontally, others fell like waterfalls, and some surged upward like fountains—there were many forms beyond ordinary understanding.
This was a world of lightning: chaotic and complex.
Li Xian frowned. There was only lightning here—it didn’t seem like anything worth focusing on. Every time he entered this space of consciousness, he gained something, but he couldn’t see what he could possibly gain in this chaotic world of lightning.
Wait—something was off. He needed to observe more carefully! Suddenly, Li Xian noticed the issue—he was actually in midair! He had been focused only on the lightning and hadn’t taken time to observe his surroundings properly.
He was standing on a massive scale, something beyond description. The scale looked like a fish scale, but it gleamed with a metallic luster, had the smoothness of jade, and faintly shimmered with rainbow-colored light. The scales enveloped and protected Li Xian, while all around him, there was endless lightning.
Above, clouds churned—not ordinary clouds, but liquid spiritual energy, rising and roiling. These liquid spiritual energies collided, producing powerful lightning. The space around was filled with the circulating energy of the five elements, forming a unique, enclosed realm.
Below, black demonic energy and murky demonic aura churned. But beneath that, the land was lush and green, filled with countless unknown celestial herbs and spirit treasures.
The lightning formed in the high-altitude spiritual energy struck down at the rolling demonic aura, purifying it. After being purified by the lightning, the demonic and demonic aura would condense into rainbow-colored raindrops—rare and precious. It took countless bolts of lightning clashing with demonic aura to form just one drop.
Once these raindrops fell, plants absorbed them immediately and then grew wildly for a short burst.
“Holy crap—fertilizer! Super fertilizer!” Li Xian cried out.
Suddenly, a thick bolt of lightning struck the scale he was standing on. The scale tilted violently, and Li Xian cried out again as he plummeted down…
“Not again! I’m not willing…!” Splash—
Within the world of consciousness, Li Xian once again experienced the sensation of free fall.
Back in the real world, Li Xian suddenly opened his eyes. He found the Dragon King in front of him already staring at him, wide-eyed. Around them, faint lightning still crackled, but it was growing weaker.
The lightning swirled around the altar but caused no harm to either Li Xian or the Dragon King standing on it.
“Hey, why are you staring at me like that?” Li Xian asked, a chill running down his spine at the Dragon King’s intense gaze.
The Dragon King continued to stare at him for a long moment. Only when the last of the surrounding lightning was about to fade did he finally speak:
“You said you prepared 500 tons of liquid spiritual energy. Is it ready yet? I even brought a Qiankun Ring this time—don’t worry about 500 tons, I can carry 50,000 tons if needed.”
Li Xian was speechless. Damn it, are all dragons this greedy?! “I said I needed three days. It’s only been half a day—I haven’t even started.”
The Dragon King sighed, “Time waits for no one. No—time waits for no dragon. You don’t understand. In at most six months, the showdown with the Xuanhai Dragon Palace begins.”
“Only one Xuanhai?” Li Xian visibly relaxed.
“Yes, just one Xuanhai Dragon Palace.” The Dragon King repeated, but his tone held a hint of sarcasm and a strange heaviness.
Li Xian’s heart sank again. “Is the Xuanhai Dragon Palace very powerful?”
“Not just powerful—they’ve already annexed three other dragon palaces!”
“What?!” Li Xian’s heart skipped a beat. “They’ve annexed three? That means the Xuanhai Dragon Palace now has at least the combined power of four Yingzhou East Sea Dragon Palaces?”
“Alas…” The Dragon King sighed. “Yes.”
Given the situation—and having already mentally prepared himself—Li Xian didn’t sigh or lament. Instead, he calmly asked:
“Why are the dragon palaces fighting in the first place?”
A shadow crossed the Dragon King’s face. “It’s said that the ancient Dragon God had nine sons, meaning there are nine dragon bloodlines. But after millennia of inheritance, the bloodlines have long become tangled.
However, the dragon race has a secret method—if one can gather offspring of all nine bloodlines, and merge their blood and souls, they can obtain a trace of the power of the ancient Divine Dragon. With that as a foundation, it’s possible to forge a path to transcendence, pass tribulations, and ascend without issue. Some even hope to follow in the footsteps of the Dragon God himself, break through the heavenly barrier, and transcend the world.”
“The Donghai Dragon Palace of Yingzhou—is it one of these irreplaceable bloodlines?”
“No.” The Dragon King shook his head.
“Is it the weakest among your bloodlines?”
“Yes. King Xian truly lives up to his name,” said the Dragon King with a wry smile.
Li Xian narrowed his eyes slightly. “It can’t be that simple, can it?”
“Ha…” The Dragon King suddenly laughed heartily, though behind the laughter was a chilling killing intent. “Of course it’s not that simple. There are many conditions. One is that the younger the offspring, the better for merging dragon bloodlines and souls. And right now, Ao Han—the youngest among us—has the purest bloodline.”
“I see. But why wait six months instead of starting the battle now?”
“The dragon race has long been in decline. And beneath the seas lie many, many beings you cannot even imagine. That’s why internal chaos isn’t allowed—we must follow the rules in everything.”
Hearing this, Li Xian’s eyes suddenly sharpened: “Don’t tell me… the dragon race plays this kind of ‘game’ at regular intervals?”
