Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 22: Sunday Afternoon
As I continued teaching Nina-chan how to move her body, the “Siren” disappeared after about an hour.
Suddenly, “Body Enhancement” vanished, and my body felt heavy. My movements immediately became sluggish.
I stopped moving my body and asked Nina-chan,
“Huh? Where’s the Siren?”
“I can’t keep it going any longer. I’ll summon it again,”
So, Nina-chan began to gather her magic power to summon it once more.
Do fairies disappear after an hour? I pondered this newfound fact.
Is the duration of their existence determined by the amount of magic put into creating them? Or does “Fairy Magic” simply last for only an hour?
I should probably verify this somewhere.
With that in mind, I called out to Nina-chan,
“No, it’s been an hour, so let’s take a break.”
“…Mm, okay,”
Nina-chan said, exhaling deeply.
She sat down on the veranda and stretched lazily.
This was the first time I had seen Nina-chan let her body relax like this in front of others.
She must have been really tired.
Even though we had only covered the absolute basics of body movement together.
I sat down next to Nina-chan, and she lay down while speaking.
“Itsuki, you’re amazing. You don’t seem tired at all.”

“I’ve been doing this all the time. If you keep at it, you won’t get tired either, Nina-chan.”
“…Right. I’ll do my best.”
With that, Nina-chan gazed up at the sky.
Today was a cloudless, sunny day, perfect for physical activity.
While I was lost in thought, gazing at the sky with Nina-chan, she suddenly asked.
“Hey, Itsuki.”
“What’s up?”
“How do you think I can catch up to Mama?”
“Hmm.”
I hesitated a bit in response to Nina-chan’s question.

Certainly, in terms of ranks, Nina-chan and Irena-san were both at the “Fourth Rank,” which meant she had the potential to catch up.
But Nina-chan had various disadvantages. Her age, experience, and a traumatic experience with monsters.
So, I pondered for a moment before answering.
“If you work hard, I’m sure you’ll catch up someday.”
“When do you think that will be?”
“…”
I thought for a moment in response to Nina-chan’s question.
“It might still take a while.”
That was the answer I gave her.
Nina-chan didn’t say anything.
Perhaps she understood it better than anyone else.
She knew it, which was probably why she asked me.
So, I continued.
“But I believe you’ll catch up, Nina-chan.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, definitely.”
It wasn’t just flattery to encourage Nina-chan.
I genuinely believed it from the bottom of my heart.
Because Nina-chan had the strength to keep moving forward to achieve her dream.
I admired her for that, and that’s why I thought she would catch up to Irena-san someday.
It’s something I couldn’t say out of embarrassment.
I couldn’t say it, but I wanted to follow her example.
That was something I didn’t have in my previous life.
“To catch up, you’ll have to train hard.”
“I understand.”
Nina-chan got up as soon as she said that.
After getting up, she headed towards the garden.
“It’s okay now. Let’s continue.”
“Right. So, should we practice footwork next?”
As I got up and followed Nina-chan, she summoned the “Siren” again.

Just like before, the mermaid appeared and swam around us.
Then, she began to sing.
“Does this enhance monsters too?”
“No, it doesn’t. Only humans.”
“That’s convenient.”
So, does that mean it’s impossible to reduce a monster’s power? If there are buffs, then there should be debuffs too, I thought.
However, when I thought about it more deeply… I couldn’t come up with a use for it.
Even against monsters one rank higher than you, there was a thirty-fold difference in magic power. Even if I halved that, it would still be a fifteen-fold difference.
So, it wouldn’t be useful against stronger opponents. On the contrary, it would be the opposite against monsters with a lower rank than me.
If there were such a thing as “Debuff Magic,” it might be quicker to just exorcise weaker opponents if there’s a chance to use it. So, I thought that there might not be many situations where it’s useful, maybe only when facing monsters of the same rank as yourself.
With this thought in mind, I turned my attention back to Nina-chan.
Around noon, my mother called us for lunch. Nina-chan and I had our meal. While we were eating, the fixed-line phone in our house rang unexpectedly, and it was my father calling.
“Are you doing well, Itsuki?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. How about you, Dad?”
“We might be making progress with work here. The number of monster anomalies has decreased significantly.”
Ad
“Decreased?”
“Yeah, we’ve mostly dealt with the conspicuous monster anomalies. At this rate, I might be able to come back next week.”
I couldn’t help but frown when I heard that he might be working for another week.
Exorcists really work themselves to exhaustion.
“I heard that you met the theatre troupe actor. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. And I didn’t really see his form. He possessed a stuffed animal and came out of it.”
“More concerned about the vessel than the magic, huh? He’s using a pretty old spell.”
“Do you know about it?”
“Yeah, back in the day, exorcists used that spell to communicate over long distances.”
“Can you use it too?”
“I can, but… there’s no need for me to. A phone is more convenient.”
I quietly agreed with my father’s words in my mind.
It seemed that not everything was more convenient with magic.
In fact, there was a magic vessel that my father, who hardly used the internet and had the most minimal data plan for his smartphone, found more difficult to use than the phone. Just how troublesome was that vessel?
“Right now, other exorcists are searching for the actor from the troupe. They’re likely using ‘Conceal,’ so it’s proving difficult to find them.”
My father’s voice echoed through the phone.
“Hey, Dad. Is it possible that the actor from the troupe isn’t in Japan?”
“Outside the country? Yeah, there’s a possibility they’ve already left Japan, spreading monsters.'”
“…Is that so?”
“If that’s the case, we’ll have to pass the responsibility to exorcists outside the country. It’s important to exorcise the monster that creates monsters as soon as possible.”
I quietly sighed at his words.
It would be troublesome if they had escaped overseas, I thought.
After some casual conversation with my father, I hung up the phone. In the afternoon, I was considering practicing magic on the veranda when I heard the sound of rain and Nina-chan’s footsteps.
“Itsuki, it’s raining now. What should we do this afternoon?”
“Hmm… I was thinking of moving our bodies, but…”
As I said that, I looked outside the window.
Instead of the clear sky we had just moments ago, it had become an unbelievably cloudy day, with heavy rain pouring down as if someone had tipped over a bucket.
“How about we practice magic?”
