Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 5: Wof 13 years old⑤

Out of place artifacts(OOPArt).

In my previous life, this term referred to artifacts that were products of technology that shouldn’t have existed in their time. Famous examples include the crystal skulls, golden shuttle figurines, and dinosaur-shaped clay figurines.

But in this world, it’s a little different.

Out of place artifacts amplify the power of relics. They are mostly weapons, armor, and accessories, and many are found as treasures in dungeons.

There’s still much unknown about them.

There’s compatibility involved, and not all relics can be amplified.

It seems that the possessor of the relic can feel this compatibility.

It’s like being guided or chosen.

It’s fate.

Out of place artifacts are rare.

They can sometimes be traded for high prices.

However, if an OOPArt cannot be adapted to a relic, it’s just a regular weapon or accessory.

An OOPArt is merely a medium.

Apart from that, there’s also a concept of Legacy.

These are items imbued with the power of a relic.

In terms of memories from my previous life, magic items might be the closest analogy.

These are items, but Legacies are all consumable.

Permanent types are called Legendary items.

Both are valuable, and thus, expensive.

“OOPArt, you say?”

“No doubt about it. I saw it with my relic [Appraisal].”

The Appraisal relic is a commonly known relic.

It allows one to identify the quality of weapons, armor, and whether they’re OOPArts.

“So you can’t buy it?”

“Wof, I’ll take this to the Explorer Guild.”

“The Explorer Guild?”

I furrowed my brows in confusion.

Arifa’s expression was serious as she continued.

“I saw a drawing of a ring very similar to this one in a search request. I’m taking it to check if this is the one.”

“And then what happens?”

“If this is the requested item, I’ll pass the request fee to you without any intermediary fees.”

“And if not?”

“In that case… there are a few people who want OOPArts. I’ll sell it to them and pass the proceeds to you without any intermediary.”

“Got it. Please take care of it.”

If I can sell it, I’m fine with whatever.

I handed over the ring and left the antique shop.

Four days later.

I enter the dungeon garbage heap.

I use the relics [Danger Detection] and [Fortune’s Wheel] as usual.

“…Hmm.”

One green light. Two green lights.

No yellow lights. No blue lights, obviously.

However, there’s a faint red point close to white with a yellow light… no, I’ll give up.

I want to minimize the risk of injury.

I head towards the first green light.

I climb the garbage mound and reach the target location.

“Hey, did you hear?”

“Hear what?”

“That forest. Another idiot tried it again.”

“Again? Even the 2nd-grade explorers couldn’t handle it.”

“They’re too reckless. They’re just asking to die…”

“Exactly. Even if they say there’s amazing treasure, how many explorers have already been sacrificed?”

“But how do they know about it?”

“I’m not sure, but apparently, a whistle kept in the guild rings when it’s triggered.”

“A whistle?”

“Yeah, apparently that’s how they know.”

“What’s that about?”

Their voices were clear.

I could hear them chatting nearby.

“More importantly, did you see it?”

“See what?”

Casual conversation while searching.

Two boys were talking.

“You know that 3rd-grade explorer party? They’re really beautiful.”

“Ah, Torquetum?”

“Torque… what?”

“That’s the name of their party. Torquetim.”

“Oh, you know a lot.”

“My old man found out when he went to the guild.”

So they’re called Torquetum.

“Your dad was an explorer, right?”

“A pitiful 5th-grade.”

“Didn’t he rank up?”

“He used to be passionate about it, but now he’s given up.”

“I see. The talent wall. I’ve heard it’s tough. Oh, an emblem.”

“That’s rare. Which party is that from?”

“The crows… Ravensaga. Do you know it?”

“No idea.”

“Figured.”

“Let’s go already.”

“Our harvest was six arrowheads, an undamaged pouch, and this emblem.”

“I got a broken bronze sword, a steel plate, and a rabbit’s tail.”

“Hey, that’s a lucky charm. Nice!”

“Really? Well, I didn’t think something like that would be lying around here.”

“…Yeah, you’re right.”

With that, they walked away.

It seemed like a pretty good harvest.

“Ah!”

I was distracted and my knife snapped.

It got caught on some metal embedded in a part of the leather armor I was trying to remove.

It caught awkwardly and the knife broke.

Well, that’s it. Ughhh…

“……….Haa.”

A sigh escapes me. It’s shocking. It’s shockingly empty.

I have no choice but to use the minimal [Vanish] to erase and remove it.

I didn’t want to use it in such an open place, but it can’t be helped.

“I’m so unlucky…”

It was a cheap knife, but I had sharpened it my way and used it as a substitute for a kitchen knife.

I was really attached to it. I had taken care of it in my own way.

It broke in half from the middle.

It seemed like the knife’s durability had reached its limit.

“…The knife… Haa…”

Another sigh escapes. It’s painful to lose it.

The knife is essential, and I can’t imagine being without one.

I had hoped that the green light under the armor would lead to a dagger, but what I found was a cigarette case.

It was made of bronze, simple, with no patterns or decorations, probably for commoners.

The tobacco inside was dried out and crumbled.

I throw away the crumbled tobacco.

The next green light turns out to be an hourglass.

This world also has a concept of time, and there are clocks.

However, the world operates on a 26-hour day, about two hours longer than in my previous life.

Well, so what?

The royal capital has a clock tower.

But generally, people know the time by the sound of the church bells.

The church bells ring once every hour from 6 AM to evening.

At night, they ring only once at 26:00 (midnight).

It’s not easy to follow, but the sense of time in this world is not very accurate and is rather rough, so this system works fine.

While there are no wristwatches, there are pocket watches.

However, they are finely crafted and are aristocratic items.

I’m not sure of the exact price, but they’re expensive.

Probably on par with modern luxury watches, maybe around 10 million or 100 million.

The hourglass serves the same purpose as in the modern world.

It’s used more like a kitchen timer rather than a stopwatch.

There are also water clocks and fire clocks.

Apparently, there’s even a relic that can accurately tell time.

It’s a small but convenient feature.

There are also Legacy clocks.

The price? Astronomical, or rather, a national treasure.

“A cigarette case and an hourglass, huh?”

The green lights are rare. But it’s not certain whether these are sellable items.

Being rare doesn’t always mean they’ll sell. The example of the super ultra-rare items that don’t sell is a good example.

Still.

I don’t feel like these will be bought for more than the two guys that were talking earlier.

But who knows, sometimes even strange items can fetch a surprisingly high price.

Now, time to get to work.

I think I’ll dig a little longer than usual today.

I need the money to buy a new knife.
