Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 25: A magic ship in Elendil

Ren looks at the mallet that Verlich has placed on the floor and thinks.

(Was he going to attack Ulysses-sama with that thing? )

If so, it would be outrageous, but there’s no restraint between Ulysses and Werlich.

Ren thought that for the two of them, this might be in the category of joking around. I don’t think about the details.

“Oh. Do you two know each other?”

“The nice kid there gave me a lift home. He’s a good kid, unlike you, you spoilt brat, who always graffiti my house.”

“When are you talking about? When my father brought me here when I was little?”

“Oh, it was rooted to the spot! That’s why I broke the outer wall when I was cleaning it with too much force!”

Ad

“Oh, dear…. which one of us do you think is to blame, Ren Ashton?”

“Ulysses-sama.”

I thought that was enough and said without much concern.

Ulysses laughed happily and reopened the conversation by saying, “I think so too”.

Still, it seems that Ulysses was a naughty child in his childhood. It’s interesting to note that his past is quite different from the legendary figure of the Seven Heroes that Ren knows.

“So, what’s the deal? spoiled brat with the good kid —-.”

“My name is Ren Ashton.”

“—- Ren it is. What are you doing here?”

“Work. But just in time. If you know him Werlich, it’ll make things a lot quicker.”

“Work? Come on, you know I hate that word more than anything else in the world.”

“Were you forbidden to drink?”

“Yes! That’s why I don’t want to work!”

“Umm, what do you mean you don’t want to work when your least favorite word in the world is ‘No alcohol’?”

“If you want to do a good job, you can’t afford to drink.”

(You hate your job, but you’re serious about your work.)

As I thought the other day, this Werlich dwarf has a lot of energy.

Ren’s interest was shifting to how skilled Werlich was.

As if to answer his question, Ulysses spoke up.

“So, can you do me a favor? I want to ask you, Werlich, who struck the sword of the sword king, to do the work of Ren Ashton, to whom I am also greatly indebted.”

“U–Ulysses-sama! You mean to say that he struck the sword of the Sword King,……?”

“Oh, do you know about the lady attendant of the Emperor?”

Ad

“Yes, I know her! She’s a very strong person and you don’t mean to say that you, Werlich-san, struck her sword?”

“Oh, it’s me.”

The Sword King is one of the five most powerful people in the world.

The fact that he struck the sword held by one of them means that Werlich is a master craftsman beyond Ren’s imagination.

“He does other noteworthy work, too. But as I said, he hates his job. He has turned down medals so that word wouldn’t get out about his skills, and he lives his life by avoiding the limelight.”

Hearing the reason for his absence from the public eye, Ren nodded his head.

“But, I don’t want to work….”

Suddenly, Ren thinks back to the summer.

That’s what they were talking about as he was carrying Werlich on his back.

“Didn’t you say you were going to forge something for me?”

“I might have mentioned something like that…….”

Okay, I’ve got his word.

Ren made a clenched fist and rejoiced.

“I don’t mean to make excuses, but I have to admit I was a little drunk. A sword for a swordsman as good as you is a different story.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever shown my sword skill to Werlich-san.”

“I don’t need to see it. That’s the way it is.”

Ren looked at Ulysses next to him with a troubled look.

“Werlich is trustworthy when it comes to blacksmithing. And swords as well. But if he asks you to lend him money for a drink, don’t trust him. After a few drinks, he’ll forget he borrowed it.”

“Hey! Hey! It’s like you’re saying I’m a bad guy.”

“I’m glad you got my meaning—- But, Werlich, it’s not a sword I want you to forge. He says he doesn’t need a sword, so I want you to make him a suit of armor.”

“Even if it is, it won’t make any difference. If you don’t have materials that I approve of, I’m not going to make it. I’m not interested even if you offer me a pile of gold. I have plenty of money, you spoilt brat, so go find a material or two.”

“I know you say that, but you can’t always get the materials that you want with just money alone. To tell the truth, I’m not interested in mithril, either.”

“Then I guess you’ll have to give up this time.”

“Don’t get me wrong. I’ve got the material.”

“If that’s the case, you should have said so from the beginning…… So, what kind of material?”

As soon as Werlich raised the question, the door to this chaotic workshop was closed.

Edgar, who had come from outside, said, “No one is listening,” and Ulysses nodded in satisfaction.

“I know Werlich won’t accept if the item isn’t rare in its own right.”

“If you know that, then you should be prepared. I won’t accept half baked materials. Then the conversation ends here.”

Ulysses looked at Ren.

He thought that Ren should tell him what kind of materials he had secured, so he gave up that role.

Then Ren opened his mouth.

“I have the horns of Asval the Red Dragon, weathered as they are,”

Werlich’s eyes darted open and his mouth dropped open.

“—- that’s a different story.”

Werlich grinned and headed for the back of the house.

Soon he heard the sound of cleaning, and then he said.

“Let me know the details, and I’ll put you in touch with a legendary blacksmith for legendary materials.”

He suggested that he would take the job.

“You bastard, if you’re here, those horns must be real. So how much do you have in reserve? Big pieces?”

“Almost the whole thing.”

“Ho-ho-ho! Isn’t this a dream come true! Now it remains to be seen whether the material will be loyal to Ren or not!”

“Werlich-san, what do you mean by the material’s loyalty?”

“I’m not saying that legendary monsters have a consciousness in their materials, but there are times when they repel the user and don’t display their power. It means that the materials are meaningless. It’s a long-standing problem among researchers, though the exact reason is still under study.”

“Heh…… but you seem to be okay about that.”

“Oh?”

Then Ulysses spoke.

He talks about matters that are necessary to keep the matter of Asval’s material secret and also to process it as a material.

“Ren Ashton here defeated Asval and took his horns.”

“Oh? Are you saying that Asval came back to life?”

“It’s a long story. I’m sorry, but I won’t mention all those things. The only thing that matters to you, Werlich is the loyalty of the material, right?”

“Well, it must be. Then I will not ask you. What do want to do with it? I’ve only heard of it in old stories, but Asval’s horns are so big, you’d have a ridiculous surplus if you want to make an armor for Ren.”

“I, for one, would like to use it up somehow.”

“I agree with you.”

Both Ren and Ulysses can honestly not have enough of Asval’s horn.

If they were to continue to have them, they would either process them all anyway or throw them away because they don’t want them to show up in any way.

However, throwing it away would be outrageous.

It makes Ren want to find some other use for it.

“Shouldn’t we also make other people’s armor or swords out of it?”

“I don’t recommend it, but it’s not impossible. Even if you went to the trouble of making it, from the looks of it, it won’t be loyal to anyone but Ren. It would be much better to go to the Devil’s Continent and mine some sacred iron orichalcum and strike with them. The best equipment is the one you know how to use.”

If it is said by the one who struck the sword of the Sword King, Ren and Ulysses have no room to argue.

If that ‘s the case, the remaining materials will be wasted.

After all, they would like to find another use for it somehow.

“How about using it for a magic ship or a magic train? If Ren also uses it, the material might be more loyal.”

“I don’t have such a thing. I don’t even have the money to buy it.”

“Hmmm? Ren Ashton, you can get a magic ship any way you want.”

Is he speaking from his sense of value as a marquis, or is he aware of the wealth of the Clausel family?

But I don’t intend to force Ulysses to do anything.

He doesn’t say things with an impassive sense of value, and he’s very serious.

“No, I mean I don’t have money —-.”

“No, you don’t. The Clausel family is in charge of Elendil, right? Then they should have one.”

“If they had that, don’t you think they’d be moving around on that magic ship?”

“I don’t think so. The Clausel family’s magic ship that I know of is broken.”

Is broken? Ulysses looked at Werlich while Ren twisted his head.

He wasn’t lying or joking, after all.

“I don’t think Baron Clausel got rid of it. He must have kept it in the Hanging Gardens. So, Werlich, why don’t you use the remaining materials for that magic ship?”

Werlich shook his long whiskers.

“I see. Lemuria.”

He muttered and nodded with a faint smile on his face.
