Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 5: Family

Hyde lives while hiding the cheat skill that was bestowed upon him.

Since making that decision three years ago, Hyde has faithfully kept his vow.

By the time he turned five, he had completely adapted to living as Hyde Rugen.

His range of activities expanded, and recently, except for some restricted areas, he was allowed to freely walk around the grounds of the mansion.

Of course, a maid or butler always accompanied him.

On a certain afternoon, Hyde was lying under a large tree in a corner of the vast garden located at the front of the mansion.

(It’s peaceful…)

The sky was clear. In this world, where there are no cars or airplanes, there is no noise from vehicles.

The Rugen family’s mansion, true to its noble status, sits on a vast estate at the outskirts of the capital, the city being the heart of the domain.

Therefore, the bustle of people does not reach here.

What tickles the ear are the rustling of the trees swaying in the wind, the chirping of small birds, and the voices of the servants working in the mansion, as well as the sound of swords clashing coming from the training grounds.

For Hyde, who originally intended to live in the countryside, this environment was ideal.

Although, by the standards of this world, the area where the lord’s mansion is located would hardly be considered countryside.

“Young Master Hyde really does enjoy it here. The gardener was also pleased. Your father rarely comes to the garden, after all.”

One of the maids standing nearby said with a wry smile.

It was probably her who hurried to prepare a mat the first time Hyde tried to lie down on the grass.

He remembered feeling a little awkward and reluctant when the servant fussed over him, but now, if the same thing happened, Hyde had gotten used to the noble lifestyle enough to accept it without hesitation.

“My father spends all his time in the office or the training grounds at the back of the mansion.”

He recalled his father, Dolph Rugen, in this life.

Dolph, who dutifully fulfills his noble responsibilities, is also a serious person in real life.

When not attending to public affairs, he devotes himself to training and continues to fulfill his responsibilities as the leader of the people in the domain.

He’s a remarkable person. It’s no surprise that he has high support from the people.

…However, Hyde was a little uncomfortable around his father.

It’s not that they had a bad relationship. It’s not that there was a lack of paternal love.

It was simply a matter of temperament.

Hyde, who tries to live modestly while hiding his immense power, and Dolph, who continues to hone his strength, were simply too different.

(Unlike me, my father has a large heart as a person, so living a life where he accepts the people’s expectations and answers them suits him, I suppose.)

Hyde thought to himself that this was something he could never imitate.

As he was idly thinking about such things, he suddenly sensed the maids chuckling softly.

He looked up and followed their gaze, then understood what was going on.

“Big brother~!”

A two-year-old girl suddenly appeared, running out of the mansion.

Her silver-white hair, like Hyde’s, was neatly cut to shoulder length, and her jewel-like red eyes shone brightly.

She swung her arms wildly toward Hyde, trotting over to him. Behind her, maids were following in a flustered manner.

Yes, in these three years, Hide had gained a new family.

A cute, adorable little sister.

“Enju, you’ll trip if you run like that.”

Hyde slowly lifted his body and became concerned about his sister’s unsteady running.

However, Enju ignored her brother’s warning and continued running, throwing herself toward Hyde.

“Whoa, Enju, that’s dangerous.”

“Hehe, big brother’s so warm~.”

“That’s because I was in the sunlight.”

Without a hint of guilt, Enju smiled broadly, and Hyde gently stroked her head.

Little children tend to have high body temperatures, and Enju was no exception, radiating warmth beyond the sunlight.

“Where’s Mother? Didn’t she say she was going to read books with you?”

“She’s talking with Father right now. So, I came to see you!”

“How did you know I’d be here?”

“Because you’re always sleeping here.”

“Ha ha, I can never beat you, Enju…”

The surrounding maids watched the sibling exchange with smiles.

Once again, today, a peaceful time flowed through the Rugen family.

“Father, did you call for me?”

That night, Hyde, summoned by Dolph, visited his father’s office.

Dolph, who had been facing a pile of documents at the desk in the back of the room, looked up.

He was a middle-aged man with short, dark brown hair. His red eyes, like Enju’s, fixed sharply on Hyde.

“You’ve come. Sorry, but could you wait over there on the sofa until I finish with these papers?”

It seemed that his father’s work wasn’t finished yet.

Although it was rare for him to be home all day, Hyde figured it must be because the duties of a nobleman had piled up.

As instructed, Hyde sat on the sofa in front of the desk and absentmindedly watched his father.

(He’s just doing paperwork, but there’s such an overwhelming presence around him.)

Even without a sword, there was an air of tension throughout the office.

Dolph Rugen was a strict man—harsh on both himself and others.

After a while, Dolph put his quill down with a soft thud, looked up, and met Hyde’s eyes.

“Sorry to keep you waiting,” he said, standing up.

“I spoke with Cordelia earlier today,” he continued.

Dolph sat heavily on the sofa opposite Hyde, leaning forward as he began to speak.

“You’re five now. I thought it was about time.”

“About what?”

Dolph nodded deeply before giving his straight answer.

“Hyde, starting tomorrow, I will teach you swordsmanship in the afternoons. Be prepared for that.”
