Chapter 88: Discovery

We finished moving the equipment for making magic potions and have completed a new long-term storage box. I can now say that I am ready to make magic potions whenever I want.

Let’s see what the newest equipment is capable of!

But it is too late to start working now. It is already dinner time. Even if I didn’t give any specific instructions, dinner was already prepared. As expected of the margrave Heine family. It seems that I only have to be present in case of emergencies.

“It's a little lonely, isn’t it?”

There was only me, Rosalia, and Mira in the spacious dining room. Mira seemed to be engrossed in the fruit that was placed in front of her and was eating it while covering her body with juice. This is the one that needs to be washed thoroughly in the bath.

“Yes, that’s right. It would have been nice if 8 could have eaten with the knights and servants, but that’s just not possible. Still, Mira has joined us now. It’s more lively than before.”

"Kyu?"

Mira, whose name was called, flew toward me. Stop it, my clothes will get sticky! Aaah, I knew it was no good.

Rosalia is laughing at the sight of me and Mira. I guess this distracted her a little, huh?

After the meal, it was time to take a bath. Rosalia comes in with Mira when I’m taking a bath as if it’s only natural.

Rosalia, earlier you said, “I will take mira and bathe with her!” You said that, right? This is not quite right, is it?

I used the shower to carefully wash off the sticky fruit juice from Mira’s body. This was quite tricky.

“Mira, can’t you eat a little cleaner?”

“Kyu?”

Mira tilted her head slightly as if she had no idea what I was talking about. Rosalia screamed  at that cute gesture and hugged her.

Hmm, that's no good. It would be better to make something like a bib just for Mira. No, better yet,  should I just go ahead and make her some clothes.?

After getting out of the bath, I asked Rosalia to dry Mira. Immediately, Rosalia took Mira to the cold/warm air blower she had made and began to dry her. Next to her, a servant was drying Rosalia’s hair.

I took the opportunity to return to my room. I locked the door to my room, activated my “Subspace” skill, and pulled out The book of magic potions that I had inherited from my grandmother. I spread the book out on the desk, feeling something slipping out.

I had glanced at the book when I received it, but this time I decided to read it thoroughly. Grandmother was one of the top five potions masters in the world. If this book was written by her, I would be able to clearly understand the various circumstances surrounding magic potions in this world.

I flipped through the pages. There is a heading, and the names of magic potions are lined up in a row. However, some of the names seemed to be written incorrectly, and some of the characters were unreadable.

The handwriting is definitely that of my grandmother. Did grandmother, a high-ranking Potions Master, make a mistake in writing? Even so, there seemed to be too many mistakes.

With doubts in my mind, I proceeded to read the page that contained the recipe for the first magic potion. There, I found instructions for making an elementary recovery potion. It was well illustrated,  and anyone who reads this will be able to make it.

The manufacturing method was... very similar to the one I know. At least, I didn't boil down the medicinal herbs like the old lady used to do.

That's strange? Also, there are some spelling mistakes. I can guess what is written from the text before and after, but I'm curious.

After that, the pages with the wrong notations continued. About two-thirds of the way through the book, I came across the table of contents again. This time the table of contents had no textual errors.

Fearfully, I turned to the page on how to make an elementary recovery potion, and there it was written the way the old lady had made it. It was the recipe for the geromazic (toxic) elementary recovery potion.

“What is this? What’s going on?”

I went back to the first page again. Then I noticed something.

The text used in the first half of the page was different from the text we were using.

The reason I was able to read it so smoothly was probably because of the in-game correction. In other words, I can read any language now.

The reason why there are some unreadable characters in the book is probably because the old lady’s copy was written incorrectly or she made a mistake in writing.

Lost ancient script ....... Apparently, along with it, the method of making magic potions was also lost. What the heck happened in that time period?

It looks like she made the potion after looking at the illustrations in the book that she discovered by chance.

On the page of the elementary recovery potion, there was a diagram showing herbs being put into a cup and then burned over a fire from below. She must have used this as a reference. But she couldn’t figure out at what point to stop the fire.

But if that’s the case, she could probably reach the right answer by trial and error.

No, wait.  father told me that other Potions Master would want this book. Then maybe there aren’t that many books that contain the ancient people’s instructions on how to make magic potions. If they were passed down only to their disciples, the improvement of magic potions would have been slow in coming.

In the end, the remaining one-third seems to be the recipe that grandmother actually used to make the magic potions. All of them were made in such a way that I had a headache.

It was truly a “thank you just for being able to save my life.”

“Oniisama~, Oniisama!”

“Kyu!”

Rosalia, surprised that the door didn’t open after turning the doorknob with a clank, let out a cry. Mira screamed in response. This is not good.

I hurriedly put the books in the safe hidden under the bed and opened the door.

“What's the matter, you two? Making all that noise.”

“What? Because the door to  brother’s room is ……”

“Kyu…….”

The servants heard the screams and came to see what was going on. I’m not going to have time to read a book. What should I do now?
